Thanks to our grantors at The Grey Muzzle Organization, we continue to serve as a source of intake diversion and keep senior dogs with their families.

💕 When this 9-year-old terrier mix’s health declined and he was diagnosed with a life-threatening splenic mass, his loving family was heartbroken and faced with an agonizing decision—stretch their already limited finances for life-saving treatment or say goodbye to their beloved “baby boy.”

Thankfully, with help from Max's Helping Paws Foundation and a Grey Muzzle grant, Bochy got the surgery he needed. He’s now on the road to recovery, continuing to bring love and joy to his family’s life. đŸŸ

No pet should suffer because of financial hardship. Together, with donors and partners, we can ensure more senior dogs like Bochy receive the life-saving care they need to recover and thrive.

Thank you to our incredible supporters for helping us keep pets happy, healthy, and home. 🙌

Together, we continue to ensure that No Pet Suffers and No Family is Forgotten. Above is Wiz before help from Max's Helping Paws and after. Read more here:

When Wiz's original owners packed up a U-Haul and told AJ, a kind neighbor, that they were leaving this sweet 2-year-old kitty behind, AJ couldn’t bear to see that happen. He took Wiz in the same day they moved out, and within just a week, Wiz became part of his family.

When AJ brought Wiz to the vet, he learned Wiz was suffering from Feline Entropion, a painful condition where the eyelids fold inward, causing irritation and risking blindness if untreated. Surgery was urgently needed to relieve Wiz’s pain and save his vision, but the cost was overwhelming.

Living on disability and facing financial hardship, AJ managed to contribute $150 and gather small donations from neighbors, but it wasn’t enough. Desperate for help, he turned to Max’s Helping Paws.

Thanks to your support, Max’s provided the critical funding needed for Wiz’s surgery. With help from the caring team at Toro Veterinary Clinic, Wiz underwent the procedure and can now see clearly again, free from pain.

“Wiz scared me... He’s moving around more, and we’re scheduling his post-op appointment this week. I’m so grateful for everyone who helped save my sweet boy.”

During the MC Gives! campaign, your donation can ensure pet families like Wiz & AJ get the help they need and deserve.

Flaco, a 7-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat, is Elizabeth’s beloved companion. Found as a stray, Flaco has been a cherished member of Elizabeth’s family for nearly four years. He’s more than just a pet—he’s family.

Recently, Flaco began experiencing troubling symptoms. It started with lack of energy, constant sleeping, teary eyes, and sneezing. Then, Flaco had his first small seizure, leaving Elizabeth scared and unsure of what was causing his condition. She’s determined to get him the care he desperately needs before the symptoms worsen.

Elizabeth and her family are struggling financially. Her husband, Jose, has been unable to work due to an injury, leaving Elizabeth as the sole provider for their household. Most of her income goes toward rent and food, leaving little room for unexpected veterinary expenses. Despite their challenges, Elizabeth is doing everything she can to ensure Flaco’s health and well-being, even offering what little her family can contribute toward his care.

Elizabeth turned to Max’s Helping Paws Foundation for support, knowing it’s her only hope to get Flaco the urgent care he needs. Max’s Helping Paws exists to ensure no pet suffers because of financial hardship. Thanks to compassionate supporters, we can provide a financial lifeline to families like Elizabeth’s during their most difficult moments.

Your donation to the MCGives! campaign makes it possible for us to help pets like Flaco stay healthy and with the families who love them. Together, we can prevent pets from suffering and ensure no family is forgotten.

From our grantees at Max's Helping Paws Foundation

This is Micho, a 5-year-old mischievous, yet cuddly kitty. He is so deeply loved by his owners, Maria and Miguel who live in rural Monterey County. After Micho was outside exploring, he came back with an unknown injury. His family could visually see an abscess forming and knew that Micho was in pain. Unfortunately, Miguel is no longer able to work and is disabled. Finances are extremely tight and they rely on many low-income programs to make ends meet.

Upon their visit to King City Animal Hospital, the estimate was way out of their reach. What were they supposed to do next? Luckily, they were referred to apply and approved for Max’s Helping Paws. Thanks to the support of Doris Day Animal Foundation and Max’s Special Supplemental Program, Micho received the urgent treatment and medication he needed to heal from his injury.

Pets are family. Since last weekend, you helped us save Simba and several more pet families since then. Simba was one of 535 pet lives you have impacted in 2024. We couldn't have done it without you.

It is with a full heart to share with you that Simba's emergency surgery went as planned to remove a foreign object. Without this surgery or the outpour of support for this family and Max's mission, Simba would have faced a different fate. After recovering in the hospital, he is now home with Jose and the rest of his family. He is expected to fully recover.

"I thought I was going to lose him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and for the blessing of being able to keep my fur baby." - Jose (on behalf of his whole family.)

Our work doesn't stop here! In 2025, we are projecting over 650 families to need our assistance. With your continued help, Max's Helping Paws will continue to be a lifeline for pets, their people and this entire community.

Will you help us, help more "Simbas" and ensure that No Pet Suffers and No Family is Forgotten?

URGENT HELP NEEDED TONIGHT!

This loving three-year-old tabby is Simba. He is pictured above with his "brother" and best friend, Jose. Jose lives in Salinas with his parents and two younger siblings. His mom is a labor worker with an agriculture company and his dad is a loader for sheet metal company here in Monterey County. "Simba is part of our family," said Jose.

Jose explained he rescued Simba three years ago, when he was likely only a week old. He had walked to the store and seen him in the streets on the way. On his way home, Simba, was still there alone so he decided to bring him into their family. "I love him so much but I think for some reason he loves my dad the most," joked Jose. "He is such a caring cat."

When Simba started vomiting, Jose knew something was wrong. His abdomen was painful so he rushed him to the local vet.

Simba has been diagnosed with a foreign body, an object stuck in his intestinal tract causing his pain and vomiting.

We need to raise a minimum of $4000 to help Simba by tomorrow to save his life.

Help us, help Simba, Jose and the next pet family in need.

Donate now at www.maxshelpingpaws.org/donate with "Simba" listed as the Honoree.

Rebel doesn’t live an ordinary life. But like all the pets we help, she is very loved. Her family lives a transient lifestyle in Monterey County and as they told Max’s, “Rebel isn’t a pet, she is our daughter”. Life is different everyday as they continue to apply for jobs and seek assistance including shelter through the Salvation Army. One evening, while Rebel was out to go to the bathroom, she was tragically hit by a car. Her parents were distraught and felt helpless. Upon reaching the hospital, they were referred to Max’s Helping Paws. Given multiple circumstances, their application was quickly reviewed and they were approved for help. Rebel was injured but would be okay.

Without Max’s Helping Paws, it is unclear where Rebel would be now, likely the shelter tearing this family apart, or worse. Thanks to the Doris Day Animal Foundation (DDAF) and the support of our Special Supplemental Program, Rebel was treated and is on the mend. We wish the best for Rebel and her family.
