We volunteered at Butterworth Hospital tonight and here’s a pretty awesome story… a younger woman came up to us almost in tears and a huge smile on her face. She had a crocheted type bandana on, maroon joggers and dragging behind her was her IV pole that was beeping from a low battery. Lulu instantly popped up to meet her with a wiggling tail and a puppy smile that seemed to spread through her entire body. It’s as if she instantly connected with her. Lulu’s greeting was different with her than any of the other 84 people we met tonight.

The woman said she had a dream last night that she would meet a big red golden retriever today and that it would be near plants. I about lost it like she was! I was literally sitting on a bench surrounded by green plants in the middle of the welcome center lobby. I don’t know about you but I do believe some dreams are prophetic and from God. It was meant to be that we were supposed to meet tonight and slowly she began to open up to me about her story. Through conversation I learned she just finished a round of chemo and had a stem cell transplant which she got the good news this afternoon it was successful! Which means she didn’t have any cancer detected in her bone marrow! Getting chocked up she said they have been waiting to hear good news and they finally got it today! I threw my hands up in the air and celebrated saying wahoo so loud that people looked at us! She also mimicked my gesture and we both celebrated such amazing news. I congratulated her and said how brave she was to keep fighting.

In two days she gets to go home to her family and two other dogs that she missed dearly. She showed me a picture of her two pups on her phone and she couldn’t wait to snuggle them. During this time Lulu tucked her head in between this woman’s legs begging to be snuggled and petted with her tail wagging a way causing her entire body to say back and forth. Then the paw came up as if it was a high five.

Tonight was just the best experience and what a gift to share Lulu with other people. I love hearing other peoples story and watching how God intersects our paths with random people (well I guess maybe not random). 💕

While mom had a weird day at work, Lulu had a great night volunteering at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital & Butterworth Hospital meeting 48 new friends!!

Everything gets put into perspective when you meet people from all walks of life and have different stories. From delivering a new baby, to a broken leg, to a new cancer diagnoses. All of it puts into perspective how little your problems really are.

Ready to try again tomorrow and have a great day!!

We had so much fun tonight at GVSU!! Lulu met over 100 students (yes someone counted) in the library while they cram for final exams. She was in heaven! ❤️
