Meet Annie

Annie is a 15-year-old beautiful chestnut mustang born in a Nevada holding facility. In 2016, we drove to Connecticut and rescued her along with another mustang, Summer (who was trained and rehomed in 2018). Their owners had moved away and left their herd of five mustangs behind. They'd never been trained or properly cared for.

Three of the mustangs were adopted by other people and the two most wild ones were left behind. It took a team of people and almost two hours to herd Annie and Summer into the trailer.

In the beginning, Annie had severe separation anxiety from Summer. But, with a lot of love and care, Annie became more independent. In 2018, she, too, was rehomed to a well-known mustang trainer in Georgia who wanted Annie as a companion for a pregnant mare.

Less than a year later, the word emerged that this reputable trainer was starving her herd. The mustang community bee-swarmed to take care of the surviving horses. Annie was one of them--the pregnant mare and foal had starved to death. It took a while to get Annie's health to the point that she could travel back to us. Our vet came and said she was practically a ZERO on the Henneke scale of horse health and was shocked that Annie had survived.

Today, Annie is thriving with her small herd of sanctuary mares at CZ Mustangs Sanctuary. She is a permanent resident here so that we can ensure she never has to suffer again.

Big news for OMG!!!!! We will be switching from rescue to rescue and sanctuary with the emphasis on sanctuary.

With so many dogs and cats rescued, vetted, and rehomed, we have been very successful in our first 12 months.

Unfortunately, the demand for rescue far outweighs the donations to support the effort. And too many dogs either have been returned (Jackson, Waffles, Momma, Jellybean, Willow) that I cannot take in more rescues right now.

Momma is going to have big medical bills. Our recent influx of kittens need to be fixed. I am hoping that some of you might help by donating...even $10 helps. We have medical bills from Ruthie (RIP), Lil Nugget (tail amputation), and Jackson (run over by car) plus the upcoming bills. 🙁

Ok friends. We have a quest! 😬

This gal is in the running for Youth Fan Favorite of the KY Extreme Mustang Makeover. Ashlyn is a remarkable young woman and I’m very proud of her. Not only did she train this wild yearling in 90 days but she did this while rehabbing not one but TWO of the Boyle County KY starvation case mustangs. She spends every waking moment working with and caring for these horses.

I know from first hand experience how much sacrifice is involved from teenage girls who choose responsibility over sleepovers and parties and hanging out with friends.

Rescue Chance...hanging poolside. He’s doing fantastic and is one of our sanctuary dogs. Scheduled for euthanasia because he was classified dangerous and could not return home, OMG is the only place that would take him. Legally we cannot adopt him out. But after four+ months here, there isn’t a dangerous bone in his body. The story that tore him from his loving parents was a lie—confirmed by doctors—which only makes the story sadder. But he’s loved here at OMG HQs. Isn’t he gorgeous?????

It’s a tough job being a doggo at OMG HQ!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Dogs live life large and love with their whole being. This doggo, Waffle Hut, is my shadow —along with a few others. I’m never alone.

Consider adopting a dog. Miami-Dade Animal Services has tons available. We can always help find transportation.
