We have made a New Years resolution to learn how Facebook works. We have not been neglecting those of you who have contacted us through Facebook. It's a matter of ignorance. We just don't get it, but figure if we use it more, we will learn along the way. And, if you can help us with our learning curve, we would welcome that help.

The Lewes Mayor and City Council unanimously approved the concept of a dog park in the City Monday night. Mayor James Ford commended the efforts of our group saying this initiative has followed the best practices of other citizen-lead projects in the City. But the work continues to find an appropriate location for the dog park, design it, fund it, and ultimately build it.

Thanks to everyone who made a pledge during our February Pledge Drive!! It was a wonderful success. We waited a few days into March as a few more pledges came in putting us over the $11,000 mark. This makes a powerful statement to the City about our members' resolve to bring a dog park to Lewes. Now, it's on to City Council meeting on March 12th.

We did a phone interview yesterday with the Coast Press. The story will be in their February 29th issue, just as we are wrapping up our February Pledge Drive.

How do you show your favorite, fuzzy, four-legged Valentine you love him or her? Make a pledge to LewesUnleashed.org It's better than giving your pooch a smooch. Nothing says 'I love you' more than giving your Valentine many happy hours of running, playing and sniffing with friends, off leash, in a safe and clean dog park to call his own.

We are closing in on our goal of collecting $10,000 in pledges during the month of February before we go in front of Lewes Mayor and City Council in March. Please help us reach, or exceed, our goal. Send no money now. Make your pledge now at http://www.lewesunleashed.org/ and track the progress of the pledge drive. And, don't forget to 'like' us on Facebook.

Thank you for your support, and happy Valentine's Day!!

Thanks to Dawn Nanz and Penny White for coming out on a coooold day to gather names and pledges at Barkfest today. The parade was called off because of the weather, but there were plenty of dogs and dog lovers on 2nd St. We gathered $440 in pledges and 24 new supporters. These new supporters take us over the 1200 mark, and we are closer to our goal of $10,000 by the end of February. Thanks too to Caryl Williams for the creative artwork which helped to highlight our pledge drive.

It looks like the weather for Barkfest tomorrow may not be the best, but we will be there in front of Citizens Bank with pledge cards for Lewes Unleashed, and supporting the Georgetown SPCA. The February Pledge Drive continues. Keep track of our progress on lewesunleashed.org. If you haven't already made your pledge, you can do it online at the site. We are also making strides in formalizing our organization in anticipation of becoming a charitable entity.

We need your help this weekend at the Winterfest Barkfest in Lewes. The day is to benefit the Goeorgetown SPCA, and it is a dog festival in downtown Lewes. We will have a table in front of Citizens Bank where we are hoping to collect some pledges. If you can help man the table for a period, please let us know.
