As we are all aware, the plastic side release clips that are on our rugs for neck closure, have a tendancy to break, crack etc. And of course every single one is different and it is hard to get the mate to one if only half is busted. So on my travels getting supplied I came across METAL ones, so will use them when replacing clips, hopefully they will stand the test of time. 🤞

Winter is upon us, and have had some rugs come in to be fixed, dehaired ready for the cooler months ahead. Nice to have cooler weather now can sit and sew without dripping lol. Still as always will take any feed bags still in decent condition just leave at drop points and shoot me message to let me know. Have a good weekend everyone 🐎💖

Hi all, I'm putting out a call for clean and in decent shape chaff bags or the smaller oat bags. I use them to make hay bale bags and I've now run out. What can you say.... Worm for bots around end of April early may this will catch them and break cycle. Learnt this from another article. Never seen this but makes sense with them scratching legs.

Just finished making a nose sunshield for customer that attaches to halter. The halter is put across the front and secured with velcro while under the halter the fleece sits against horses nose. If you look at light blue halter piece in second and third pic you will see concept.

Hi everyone. So just an update, I have now confirmed with Elders Produce that it is fine for repair drop off point. As always please let me know when you have dropped repairs off, will still be using Norco if that is your preference but also let me know so I will go there for pickup. So to recap the repairs points are now

Hi all, I have decided to finally sell on the rugs from my old girl. I have 3 rugs which are as follows-
A-Weatherbeeta synt combo thin fill. $30
B-Generic std canvas lined $30 sold
C-Saxon std rainsheet no fill with belly bands $30 sold
D- x2 custom made face masks. I made them for my girl however they are more COB size than full. $20 each.
E- Wildhorse insect mesh, hooded. Size 5.0 $30
All above are clean and without tears etc any have already been repaired. In good working order and can drop to local rug drop points ie Norco coffs etc. If wanting to post then will be done at buyers expense.

Well it's dehairing season, just finished doing one of my guys rugs. Need to almost dehair myself lol.

So finally got my girls facemasks repaired.

The stable rug all put back together. I used binding to seal the raw edges so they don't fray anymore, the binding also helps keep the repair strong.

Just about to start repairing a stable rug that has been on a naughty nag hahaha. Basically the rump and side all torn. And I was surprised when I remembered the quilted material I had used a few years ago to make a saddle cloth, pulled it out and couldn't get a closer match to colours, yes it isn't thick wool feel but only way to perfectly match is to have actual rug material it was made from on hand. But I think I got a pretty good match, not as dark of course but as close as I can get. I will post pics after I've finished repair. Stay tuned😋🐎

ODE TO THE RUG DESTROYER

As horsey people we all know how even the toughest rug can be brought undone by a simple branch or even our nag having a roll. Lets face it, we all put rugs on our kids for different reasons and we are not impressed when they damage them,or as is the case for my lot, walk up with 95% of the rug missing. Rugs are costly, even when we get them on special, and when they rip them we sometimes dont want to simply throw it away as it is either new or is a rug that fits so well that you dont know if you can get another one like it. I was given an industrial machine, a 1932 Singer, many years ago. I used this machine to do simple repairs for my own rugs but this machine was not built to do the heavier rugs, so I was left to repair them by hand which kills the fingers. A few friends found out about my repairing rugs and asked if I could do some repairs on theirs, so I did and found that I had a knack for it. So fast forward to a few years later and I now have a Brother Industrial sewing machine, which tackles all but the thickest of rugs and an industrial overlocker which I use to hem patches and also if possible seal the raw tear edges on rugs before patching. I have built up a supply of light canvas, a small supply of mesh and some winter canvas for patches along with lining and spare parts. So with the repair of rugs, I also do repairs to other items such as dog coats, face masks, saddle cloths, halters and any other accessories, with the inclusion also of repairs to material on hoof protection boots. This last one was an out of the blue request, but am able to do repairs to certain extent.

I have tried to keep pricing in reasonable realistic range, but remember this is for repair and if the repair cost or damage to exceeds the replacement of rug, then of course I will not repair but will gladly take for spare parts. The price list covers the most common repairs found to be required, however if there is anything you wish repaired that is not listed then dont hesitate to contact and ask, I may be able to repair.
