When we built our new stable block beneath a towering gum tree back in 2017 I always thought the tree would outlive all of us.

Sadly the summer storms that have impacted so many also proved a bridge too far for our tree, which suffered a fatal lightning strike on December 19.

RIP to our gentle giant and thanks to Above The Rest Tree Care for their expert service 😊

The South Coast ag show season is in full swing and Diva and Pie have jumped some lovely rounds at Berry and Nowra Shows in the past 10 days as I get used to doing these shows as the rider rather than the strapper!

Can see why Jack and Jasmine enjoyed their jumping years, is a lot more fun being in the ring when the bell rings rather than standing outside and watching!

Thanks to all the sponsors and organizers that make these shows such great community events and we look forward to Milton Show on the first weekend in March!

I've taken Jack and Jasmine to a lot of elite jumping shows over the years, but had never ridden at one myself until last week when Pie and I put the finishing touches on our Equimillion quest with a couple of rounds in Ring 2 at the 4CYTE Willinga Park Grand Prix Show.

Back to Berry last Sunday for their Jumping championships and super proud to have Breednet sponsoring Ring 1 at this great local event run by Berry Riding Club.

Diva and Pie jumped their socks off and am starting to get my mojo back in the ring after 10 years of strapping for Jack and Jas. Thoroughly enjoyed all those years and the adventures we had, but now I get a turn on two amazing horses that love their job.

Great to take horses out on Sunday for first outing in new float to Berry Riding Club jumping comp! Pie and Diva looked after their mother and coach Jack was happy with our efforts! Thanks to everyone at Berry Riding Club for a fun and well run day.

Mirrabooka Cup show was not entirely as we would have liked, but that is the sport of showjumping. Horses jumped well though with some rosettes and pretty rounds to take away and head into our next show at Berry! Lovely pics from Govern Images

Summer Classic was the last show of the year for us and Pie and Andy jumped some lovely rounds.

Jack has jumped in some of the biggest Young Rider classes (1.30 to 1.40) in the country this year and Andy has risen to the challenge taking him around safely every single time, so it's been an interesting and enjoyable year.

All good things come to an end and next year the Daybreak Farm truck will be sold as we downsize back to a float, expressions of interest on the truck contact Tara on 0425 311313

Nowra Spring Show last weekend was more about our horses that didn't go to Melbourne and that was darling Diva, who gave her very rusty mother a couple of lovely rounds and the problem child Dream, who finally made it to a show.

A son of champion sire So You Think, Daybreak Dreamliner has been a work in progress for a long time with us now, but between Covid, wet weather and his endless run of niggling issues, this was only his second show.

He saved his best behaviour for while he was in the jump ring and we can only hope his attitude outside of it improves with experience, time will tell.

Just returned from the 2022 Australian Showjumping Championships at Boneo Park in Victoria and it was certainly an experience to enjoy... yes the weather was wet and cold and there was a lot of mud, but hey, that has been our normal at Daybreak Farm for months!

Horses jumped super and while Jack and Andy narrowly missed their Young Rider final, Pie pulled out his A game to grab fourth in the Opal Series Final, a great effort with a starting field of 99 in that class which unfolded over three rounds before Finals Day.

We also managed a quick side trip to Cape Shanck lighthouse, 15 minutes drive away and well worth the visit... if you've ever been to Cornwall in the UK, then you'll have some idea of the magic of Cape Shanck!

Liv Sakeld of Elegant Exposures took some stunning pictures at Willinga Park over the weekend. Jack and Andy clear in 1.35m on Sunday for a win!

In racing terms, it was a nice barrier trial before we go to Melbourne in November.

Willinga Park showjumping is our home town show so it was a busy few days of back and forth given we live just 40 minutes from the best equestrian centre in the Southern Hemisphere.

Horses jumped super for Jack over the show with a win and placings for Diva and Pie in Ring Two, some terrific rounds in the tough Young Rider classes for Andy at 1.35 and another successful show for ES Ella ridden by Rhys Stones.

Ella had a crack at the Mini Prix at 1.40m on Sunday jumping a beautiful round with just one pesky rail down.

Thanks to Terry Snow and his amazing team at Willinga Park for a great show and looking forward to next year!
