Reunion Rescue No-Kill Refuge Build it and it will happen.... With all of the funding, donations and grants allocated, animals are dying in larger numbers than ever. We have a dream.

Every day, all day, we see the emails and postings for California and other dogs across the United States who are dying in shelters. We want to establish a no-kill refuge for dogs in the San Francisco Bay Area, California on a grander scale than our current facility in Austin, Texas. We are currently raising funds to annex our existing sanctuary and rescue facility in Austin, Texas in Northern Cal

ifornia. Currently 99.5 percent of the pit bull breeds are being killed in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin County. Reunion Rescue can change these odds and show high kill shelters a better way to let the animals live. This will happen. Reunion Rescue has been rescuing pit bulls and other animals across the US for 15 years. Many times, we've been overdrawn at the bank, but still found a way to save that dog (or cat or small animal). The story of Reunion Rescue is told in "Pit Bull Nation," a tell all book about what really goes on when the shelter doors slam shut. All proceeds from sales of this book go toward saving animals. Reunion Rescue has a plan. We have created a safe haven for former death row dogs here at Reunion Rescue Refuge. Animals here undergo the Reunion Rescue detox and rehab plan get ready for that forever home. Our refuge houses:

1. a holistic space where our secrets can help other animal lovers
2. a training facility
3. a doggy day care and boarding kennel
4. a raw feeding holistic place where bodies can begin to heal
5. a refuge for previously unwanted dogs
6. an on site spay/neuter station

Please help us realize this dream by contributing and crossposting. We yearn for the day when no dog is left behind to hear the slam of that shelter door.

Happy Pit Bull Awareness Month from Slappy...a Reunion Rescue dog

Slappy was at San Francisco Animal Care and Control when saved by Reunion Rescue but it started a war that still goes on to this day...a "green volunteer" sprayed Slappy with a fire hose when she was jumping up and down right in front of Mark and Rachel - her Reunion Rescue adopters.

The next morning, Slappy who'd just been spayed the day before was found by Ann Bennett the SFACC vet tech..Slappy was covered in blood as well as her kennel floor..her intestines were all over the room. Ann took pictures (wisely which we still have today) and forced SFACC to take Slappy to Pets Unlimited for trauma and immediate surgery where five feet of her intestine were removed.

Director Carl Friedman and Deputy Director Kat Brown not only fired Ann for her life-saving efforts but banned myself and Reunion Rescue who's saved hundreds of pit bulls scheduled to be destroyed by San Francisco Animal Care and Control and San Francisco SPCA after being turned away by the 1994 SFSPCA/SFACC Adoption Pact.

Slappy was adopted by Rachel and Mark and went on to live a wonderful healthy life and even moved here to Texas with her family. Reunion Rescue has gone on to save tons more dogs and operates a never kill refuge where all pets are raw-fed and holistically treated.

SFACC San Francisco pit bull watcher still kills pit bulls for space and bans good rescues like Reunion Rescue

Angel Divine with Marty
...that time I found that pit bull...we were living over in the Ingleside district in San Francisco when I first saw her..she didn't have a name and guess what..I didn't like pit bulls! The next time I saw her, she was dripping blood and I began to call around to find out who saved dogs..nobody. It started me on my life's journey up against the brick wall where pit bulls are concerned ... here she is with her dad Marty who saved her and named her...Angel Divine....kicked off our tradition of saving the world, one dog at a time.

Wow..Pit Bull Nation has sections devoted to this person who's now claiming to advocate for wildlife..I am remembering the two baby pigeons who died of exposure when Kat Brown refused to allow me to transport them to Marin Wildcare. That and a ton of other horror tales like the time Brown used her position of Deputy Director at San Francisco ACC to threaten a fellow rescuer....told her she would kill all dogs of the breed this person rescued if she didn't divulge private information.

These are only a couple of the stories of the many instances where animals met with disastrous fates at SFACC. Now all of sudden she's an animal advocate with a book? That's imagination!

Meet Chase---Chase is a wonderful dog....he has all the physical characteristics of a Belgian Malinois...lanky and graceful...but not the high prey drive bred into this breed. Have you ever wanted to share your home with one of these magnificent dogs, but not the intense qualities that are chosen for drug detection work by the FBI. Chase is happy playing ball or going on a nice walk and then curling up to watch the FBI on tv with you, not engaging in going after criminals in real life.

He is gorgeous and fun, a super lovable lean and attractive doggy. Chase has glowing reports from his foster home. He loves car rides, is fully crate trained, quiet for a GSD breed! Super people and dog friendly. Chase came from Palm Valley where he was shutting down after being relinquished to the high kill shelter by his family. Like so many beautiful dogs, Chase did nothing wrong to be let down by his humans.

We have an excellent foster program which allows us to help another dog from another high kill area. Please consider sharing your home with our boy, Chase.

Dog stories for dog lovers...

The best thing about rescue work is getting to tell the stories. Each dog has such an amazing narrative to share. If we'd only listen.
