Oh goodness, it's summer already. Between getting married last September, pet sitting and renovating a house, I haven't posted on here. Yes I'm still pet sitting after over 30 years! I can't give up my babies and my pet therapy, lol!

After 30 something years of pet sitting I am changing things. I want to spend way more time with my babies and not run from house to house. I'm telling you there's no better feeling than sitting on an over stuffed chair with 1, 2, 3 puppies or kitties.

Got an A plus from the doctor today and can go back to regular pet sitting.

Hello everyone. Surgery went great and one month out I'm recovering nicely. Still can't walk big dogs and I'm exhausted by night but it takes time. Taking the day off March 17 when the city will throw my mom a huge birthday party.

22/12/2021

.....and so the BIG pet sitting schedule starts now until January 3! I am thinking about just how in love I am with all the babies I get to sit with.

16/12/2021

Just finished my Christmas and New Years schedule. Now to put it permanently in my book. Working on sending out notices letting clients know that because the cost of gas is killing me I am going to have to slightly go up on pet sittings. Also reminding clients of my surgery date and politely asking them to have their friends and family sends gifts AFTER they've returned home, especially if it's food that needs to be refrigerated. YES, after 4 years we are still waiting for our house to be raised so also gently reminding Christmas gifts to be something that can be used or eaten within a month. Yes, trying to lose weight but can still enjoy holiday goodies with a cup of cocoa, lol!

16/12/2021

Just about finished with the holiday schedule for Christmas and New Years. It's a big undertaking having to make a list and double and triple check it. Also sending out notices to let clients know that my surgery is scheduled Jan 31 so I cannot work for two weeks, AND that my prices unfortunately after all these years are going up slightly. The price of gas is killing me. Lastly just reminding clients NOT to have things sent to them during the holiday and to gently remind friends and family that they wont be home so to mail stuff, especially things that need to be refrigerated AFTER they get home. We are still waiting, yes 4 years later, to have our house raised so asking once again for Christmas gifts that can be used up within a month or something to eat.

05/12/2021

Christmas list finished! Now it will take me time to write up the schedule and we are full, full, full. As I would guess with most pet sitters we are booked for the holidays a month in advance.

One thing I dislike about holiday pet sittings is having to run from house to house. Doesn't give me hardly any time w my babies. Also am thinking of going up on my prices cause the cost of gas is killing me.
Having said that, let me share a few suggestions for the person that's taking care of your pets so you can be with family.
1. Give even $10 more if you can. Gas is killing us right now.
2. If you have an awesome pet sitter that does something extra, like when they clip your pets nails how bout rewarding them for it ? Otherwise you'd have to load the pet in the car to get the vet to do it so it's a win-win for you both.
3. Lastly, let friends and relatives know NOT to send you packages because you wont be home to receive them. Not only do you not have to worry about having them stolen but if it's food your pet sitter wont have to worry about rearranging your fridge to fit it in there.

It's always cute when people tell me I clean up nicely. Surely you cant go pet sitting in a suit and make up. Dogs dont care when they gotta potty.

For about 15? years I fed this 17 year old cat. Started out with a bunch, even his sister Sandy which we have no idea what happened to her. This was Goldie. He belonged to a client of mine that passed away but still paid me to feed him everyday. Has always been a community cat with a benefactor. Yesterday I was allowed to make the decision what to do with him. The vet and I both decided it was better for him to be euthanized. He was very sick. Thank God before the benefactor died he gave me a little bit of money for feral/community cat emergencies on Tybee only. Almost all the money went towards this cat but we tried. Rest in peace sweet Goldie, I will miss calling your name every night.

I am so honored to get to babysit these three. They keep you on your toes, that's for sure. Never boring at this house. So glad their mom trust their care to me. Love you Kelli!

Had a quiet holiday pet sitting this year. Normally for pet sitters, their holiday money helps in Jan and Feb when business is usually slow. But hey, hold on pet sitters! The minute the public gets their vaccinations they are going to be traveling like C-R-A-Z-Y!

Christmas reservations for pet sitting are half full now. Hopefully you've already called and got your name on the list.

Whew! I was so tired from Thanksgiving pet sittings that I slept almost 10 hours. In less than a month Christmas will be here and I start all over again. Normally I am used to it after doing this job for 30 years but with Covid and me not doing my usual 20 something a day in the summer, it's like I am starting all over again, LOL! Thank God I love my job!

22/11/2020

Pet sitting for Thanksgiving is full. I unfortunately received 3 last minute requests so I am posting this now. If you remotely even "think" you need Christmas pet sitting, CALL NOW! I didnt send out my yearly notice cause I didnt go on vacation and I didnt think honestly that people would be traveling. Boy was I wrong. I dont want your actual dates but I do need your name on my list. Sorry if I have to turn you down but I'm letting you know NOW.

16/11/2020

Not going to repeat this too many more times. I am TOTALLY booked for dogs for Thanksgiving. Taking cat appts that can be fed at any time during the day. Christmas is also almost full for dogs that cannot go in and out by themselves. If you need pet sitting you need to be calling NOW!

Been a crazy start to the weekend. In between pet sittings I had to help catch a cat that they were trying to catch since last Sunday. It had a chunk of it's face missing, probably from a cat fight. Then the next morning the same thing. Went to put an outside cat in a carrier for a client because it also had a face wound from cat fighting. For that one I expect cookies, lol! Then spent an hour and a half cleaning the beach. I dont know if this is good or bad news but I only got between 20-30 cigarette butts in my usual 200 butts area. I really think most were swept out by the ocean.

Pet sitting lately has been all cats. 3 in one house to keep me calm and relaxed. I miss my foster cat and kittens. Was head on since March but now very quiet. I dont miss getting up every 2 hours to bottle feed but I do miss seeing little lives grow and get their own personalities. I always say I get paid to play with other people's babies and it is a very calming job most of the time.

The virus has been crazy messing with people's jobs. Thank God pet sitting is picking up this week. I am looking at this time to get stuff done that I never had the time to do before, spending more time with family and my only very small inner circle that I can hang around. I also have been blessed to foster a mama cat and 3 kittens, and at least 3 singletons.

After 30 years of pet sitting this is the first time EVER that I only have ONE, yes one pet sitting for Memorial Day Weekend. It's on Wilmington but thank goodness it's cats in case I am late or get stuck in traffic. Anyways, got work to do but being held hostage by a tiny sleeping creature on my chest, snoring and purring at the same time.

Hope everyone is doing okay. We have from 1-2 pet sittings a day right now up until May. We all have no choice but to try and ride this thing through. Spending a lot of time with my mom since she' refused to leave the house for about 2 weeks now which I feel is a very wise decision. Today is her 84th birthday but we can celebrate when this is all over. Love to all. A cute picture of my foster kitty to put a smile on your face.

Been a very trying pet sitting week. Not only is my own cat sick with blood in his urine from cystitis but have my friends dog not feeling well and pet sitting a dog that is supposed to be leash walked up and down stairs 4 times a day. My cat doesnt want to take his meds, my friends dog is so sweet it's hard for me to see her sick and the leash walked dog refuses to go potty on a leash, just wants to be submissive and roll over, get up, walk 2 feet, roll over, get up, walk 2 feet, well you get it.

WHEW! Have spent the last few nights in the freezing cold trying to find a friends cat that got out thru a malfunctioning elevator during a storm. Thank God tonight I found her. Even though I dont get to pet sit her that much because my friend had hired another pet sitter before she knew me, I still had to look for his precious girl. Love her owners, love their kitties, love how they take care of community cats at their condo. Poor kitty was shaking and hungry! Glad we are both home, warm, fed and ready for bed. Thank you again precious Lord for bringing this baby to me tonight!

The commercial where they say that dogs dont want to watch TV apparently dont know Liesl! She loves to watch TV and goes crazy when there's another animal on the big screen!

This is hilarious. All last week it was rainy and cold and I had a lot of doggie pet sittings. This week it's warm and sunny and most of my dog pet sittings end Wednesday. I love sitting outside with my babies letting them enjoy the sunshine. Going to go metal detecting with my free time this week!

18/01/2020

Most pet sitters use their December money to get through January and February which are mostly slow. I am only so blessed that my house got paid off so I can recover from foot surgery without worrying about paying my bills. But believe me will be back to full work since I just discovered my home insurance and flood insurance is almost $5000 together. Havent even added taxes in that equation yet.

26/12/2019

Oh my! Was at a clients house this morning and heard some weird screaming going on. Turns out it was a mouse that ran from behind the cabinets to behind the fridge with 5 cats in the house. I left the front door open while I fed the cats hoping it would be smart and make it's escape. These are indoor/outdoor cats on a dead end road with their own cat door. Oh goodness, what to do?

25/12/2019

Woo Hoo. Made it home from morning pet sittings. While I am driving around it gives me lots of time to think. Last year I got rid of some clients that were a pain in my backside or didnt take care of their pets. Am so thankful and grateful for all the wonderful clients I have had all these years and continue to have. Am very thankful that I can pick and choose who I want to pet sit for. So many blessings! Love my clients and "our" babies!
