6/28 UPDATE: Clinic is FULL with riders being accepted for the waitlist!

📣 Julie Norman Eventing and Dressage is excited to announce a dressage clinic with John Mason on August 6-7 at Holly Hill Farm. 📣

WHO: John Mason is a German Equestrian Federation (FN) licensed dressage trainer based out of Tex-Over Farms in Conroe, Texas. John grew up riding various disciplines in south Texas before moving to San Antonio at the age of 16 and finding dressage while riding with Austin based trainer, Richard Howard. While working with Richard, John quickly moved up the levels with his personal horse, Gdańsk, bred by the Howard’s, from Training level to Intermediare I in two years. John and Gdańsk were members of the 2009 Region 9 Young Rider team. After graduating high school that same year, John made the decision to move to Germany to further his dressage education. John was accepted to the prestigious ‘Bereiter’ program with international Master dressage trainer, Johan Zagers. During the three year apprenticeship program, John moved up the ranks in the barn becoming barn manager in 2012. John completed his two week Bereiter testing in Warendorf, Germany at the German Riding School in November of 2012 with high marks in both dressage riding and instruction. John and his now wife, Rachael, moved to Texas in 2013 where John accepted the position of head trainer at Paul Kathen’s Tex-Over Farms. Since his return to the US, John has been successful both in and out of the competition ring. John has been invited to the Dressage Finals six times and was the US Dressage Finals Training Level Open Champion in 2018, Reserve First Level Champion in 2019, and Reserve Training Level Champion in 2021. John and his business partner breeder, Mary Nuttall, are currently campaigning a Seven Year old Danish WB stallion, True Temptation SWF, where they have been USDF Horse of the Year three times in a row. John has won numerous Region 9 USDF/GAIG Championships from Training Level through Intermediare I as well as being the 2019 Region 9 /The Dressage Foundation’s Teaching Excellence Award recipient. John regularly clinics with Conrad Schumacher, Tom Noone, and Dinah Babcock. He has had the privilege of working with Isabell Werth, Charlotte Dujardin, Klaus Balkenhol, Janet Foy, and Volker Moritz.

John’s focus is clear: To train horses and their riders in the classical German art of dressage in a way that is competitive for the modern sport, while maintaining a happy and healthy horse and rider. Being able to enjoy the sport and grow together in partnership with horses is, and always will be, the most important aspect of John’s training.

COST: The cost of the clinic rides will be dependent upon how many rides per day are booked. If there is a minimum of 10 rides/day, the cost would be $113.00 per ride. Sunday’s rides will be limited to 10 rides so John can catch his return flight to Houston. Auditing is welcomed and free!

I know it’s going to be hot, but this is an amazing opportunity that shouldn’t be missed! And the covered arena has those big fans!

CONTACT: Please contact Amy Rokaw at 318-393-5714 or [email protected] to reserve your clinic spot or for any questions you may have.

This is a first come, first served reservations.

Holly Hill stall fee and RV hook-up fees are $35.00/night. There is no fee for haul-ins.

Looking forward to a great clinic!

We had too much fun this weekend at the Texas Classic Dressage Show in Tyler TX!

Congratulations to everyone on great rides. Yevette Harrel earned her final score for her USDF Bronze Medal aboard her lovely grey gelding Paddy. Sarah Daigle moved up to Training level for the first time at a recognized show. Pat Willcox and Kidd competed in their first recognized dressage show coming home with a win! Brooke Schafer and Kulik Bear competed in the gelding’s first off property show and first recognized event with two lovely tests.

Regis Webb coached Aimee Hughes, Gretchen Reeks, and Jennifer Lewis who all had great rides at their respective levels!

It was a fun weekend filled with great food and a lot of laughs. Thank you to Renee Murphee and Drew Daigle for all of their help this weekend!

JNE had such a fantastic time at the Gator Bayou Pony Club show! We had several horses and riders compete for the first time and some veterans stretch their legs over bigger fences. Saturday hosted the hunter riders while Sunday was our quick footed jumpers. It was an excellent prep for the upcoming Holly Hill Horse Trials. Thank you to all who attended! We were fortunate our JNE photog mom was on hand to capture so many great photos!
