🐾Stache Update!🐾
I am sorry for the delay on his update! We have had a lot going on in the rescue the last couple of weeks and all of us have been going non stop!
Stache had an HCT of 6.9 (normal is 26-47) on the 27th when he was at his worse. He was completely anemic and jaundice. He was very lethargic, not eating on his own, had very bloody stool. His foster mom brought him to the Cottonwood ER that night for help. The doctor there told us Stache's prognosis was very poor, he said Stache most likely had FIP (no where in the bloodwork showed signs of FIP), he recommended euthanasia. He said they could keep him overnight for $4,500 - $5,900 and put a feeding tube in and possible blood transfusion. We didn't feel comfortable with the situation. We had been in contact with our friends at Angel Paws during this time and I am so thankful that we were.
Placing a feeding tube would have most likely killed Stache. A blood transfusion was too risky. One of the amazing doctors at Angel Paws recommended to take him home, start him on antibiotics, steriods, force feeding etc. It was still a risk, but he had a better chance with that than being treated at an ER with a doctor who was diagnosing something that wasn't and risking his life by anesthesia.
Stache has been back to Angel Paws multiple times since. On Friday during his recheck, his HCT count was at 20!!! He isn't near as anemic, he isn't near as jaundice. His foster mom no longer needs to force feed him. He is active, eating, purring, and being a happy kitty! He won't need another recheck for a while, unless something happens, but he has shown incredible improvement and keeps improving every day!
We are so grateful for the support from all of you, from the incredible team at Angel Paws, and for his amazing foster mom who has given her all to Stache. ❤

UPDATE 02/05 - Unfortunately Kermit's veterinarian at Mountain West recommended euthanasia for our sweet boy. He was battling more than FIP and his prognosis was very guarded. Thank you to his amazing foster family for taking such great care of him and giving him all the love he could have ever dreamed of. Thank you to those who donated for his care. We are still behind on hundreds for his bill that we need to have paid later today, so if anyone could help out, we would be so grateful. We are going to miss our Kermit. 💔
We've been treating Kermit for FIP for the last month and he took a turn for the worse today. We aren't sure what caused him to go downhill so fast, but his foster mom is heading to Mountain West ER now. Our initial estimate will probably be close to $1000 for the first night stay and testing. Please help if you can! Anything and everything helps! Kermit needs us right now! This poor guy has gone through so much in his short life.

I wanted to share this video from one of our amazing adopters, Katie. Katie adopted Molly (previously Sherbet) from us in 2016. Molly was my personal foster and I absolutely adored her. When we rescued her in 2014, she was on the euthanasia list at a local shelter. Katie happened to see Molly at one of our adoption events and she just fell in love with her. Molly had some chronic medical issues, but that didn't matter to Katie. She gave her the best home she could have ever asked for. Katie loved Molly with all of her heart. On April 13th, Molly gained her wings. We are so grateful for all of the love and kindness that she received over these years.
Rescue is so hard emotionally and physically. We are all volunteers and have our own lives and jobs outside of the rescue, but we give the rescue everything we can, even if that means us losing out on things ourselves like sleep, money, time spent with family/friends, nice "things". We take on foster after foster, we see devestating cruelty cases, our hearts get broken from the ones we lose. Our minds and bodies are always just exhausted. Stories like Mollly's are the reason we keep going. We work so hard to make sure we save as many as possible and that they end up in loving, furrever homes. Homes with people who treat them like family. That's exactly what Katie did with Molly and I will always be grateful to her.
RIP Molly aka Sherbet. You will always have a place in my heart. ❤

This is Thackery Binx’s way of asking for cuddles 🥰. This lil boy loves to be held, and given lots of attention. He is available for adoption, and would love a home with another very fun playful kitty and friendly dogs would be a plus.
Pixie and Leeloo were so hungry when they came to us last night! Pixie didn't want to share. She decided to hover the bowl of food all night long! We are so happy that they got to go to sleep with a full tummy and warmth. See our last post to find out more information about these two! 😺🐱😸🥰

Thackery Binx is one of our newest foster kittens. He was brought to us by a wonderful lady, who found him outside. He came to us with a bad upper respiratory infection, however is healing up beautifully. As you can see, he is a sweet cuddle bug.
Tsunami busy making biscuits, one of her favorite afternoon activities.
Tsunami is excellent at subduing feet at bedtime. She’s also the shiniest mini black panther you will ever see 🐈⬛. If you are interested I knowing more about this girl, please email us. Her foster mom has had her since she was 4 weeks old, so can answer anything.
