Posted • When a tow truck driver responded to an abandoned vehicle in El Cajon, he was surprised to find that a family of cats had been abandoned with it. Our Humane Officers were called to the scene, and when they opened the passenger door, they were greeted by Caddy and her four tiny kittens. The family was brought to our El Cajon Campus for vaccinations before being sent to a foster home where Caddy could raise her babies in a quiet, low-stress environment. After spending two months with their foster, Caddy, Austin, Celestiq, Lyriq and Nova were spayed, neutered and ready for loving homes of their own!

And it’s all thanks to friends like you! Support from our community ensures we can Stay at Zero euthanasia of healthy or treatable shelter pets despite being one of the highest intake shelters in the country.

Chihuahua, 10 Years Beautiful 

Koko is a beautiful example of how a little love and positive reinforcement can transform a dog’s life, turning a timid pup into a vibrant, affectionate companion. Koko was surrendered to the OC Shelter along with 8 other Chihuahuas when their owner was no longer able to properly care for them all. Lionel’s stepped up to rescue 4 of the 8, while the other pups were placed with other rescues. It was a team village effort to see that all 8 beautiful pups found safe landings. 

Koko and her sister Lulu were placed together with a foster, and when Koko first came into foster care, she was understandably a bit shy and unsure of her new surroundings. But with patience and the right kind of nurturing, she has blossomed into an absolute gem. Her transformation is a testament to the incredible power of kindness and encouragement. Now, Koko is not just a good girl, she is a super smart, loving fur ball with a zest for life.

A Love Bug in every sense, Koko’s personality is truly something special. Her foster reports that this sweet girl is super easy and very loveable! She especially enjoys cozy belly rubs. Her affectionate nature makes her an ideal companion for someone looking to build a strong, loving bond.

Miss Koko is quick to pick up on new commands and loves engaging in fun, interactive activities. She’s a petite 9 lbs lovebug who loves kids, gets along with other dogs and is housetrained. Meet the worlds sweetest and most easy going girl, Bella! She is around 3-4 years old and around 55 pounds. Her small size makes her look like an eternal puppy! She’s a former mom dog and her whole litter is happily adopted. Bella is a perfect princess and mellow companion, and a great apartment dog. She is fully house trained and can be trusted at home for a full 8-9 hour workday without accidents or messes. She almost never barks, and she has been able to get over her fear of elevators. Her two favorite things are cuddling (she will sit and get pets for hours if she could) and sniffing all the smells outside. She is a curious girl and will approach other dogs and humans to say hi.  She does great in public and can be taken to dog friendly restaurants, etc. where she will lay next to your feet and just watch everything that’s happening. Her coloring is beautiful and with her fluffy hair she prances like nobody is watching!  She is submissive and obedient, smart as a whip.  She would be a wonderful addition to any family unit.

Beautiful Drax and Professor are both adoptable from Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter!

Drax is a LARGE black German Shepherd that has been at Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter for a while. He would require a special home that does not have any young kids and a shepherd savvy owner who is knowledgeable about the breed. Also Drax would require a home with lots of cookies, hand fed to him of course, and an extra large squishy bed to help combat his hip dysplasia. Drax likes his people, though it doesn't take him long to warm up to strangers, and likes to spend his days either following you around or lounging in his bed. He receives injections for his hips every few months and seems to be doing well with those. An interesting fact about Drax is he can be annoyingly smart and knows how to opens all sorts of doors and gates so will need somebody that is the kind of person who remembers to turn off the lights when they leave. If you're looking for a lazy buddy to spoil give us a call today!

This beautiful 8 year old feline named Professor came into Camp Pendleton as a stray. He is an affectionate stud who does well with other cats and loves the attention! He loves head scratches and loves to nap! Adopt this stud muffin today!

Kittens?
Siamese kittens anyone???

I think it’s pretty obvious if you follow this page that I love Siamese. Last week we got a message from a rescue friend who is very good at bringing dogs and cats over from Mexico. She asked if we wanted a very prego Siamese (maybe mix) mom who got dropped at a veterinarian.

Well now we have 7 carbon copy kitties of the mom who you can see is very beautiful!

I’m hoping that they remain healthy, and we get them up for adoption in 7 weeks.

Hello, my name is Shadow and I am a black and white mutt who is 10 months old. I am full vaccinated and spayed. I have a very funny personality and love to go on nature walks, play in the hose, and tug of war with my ropes and toys. I am crate trained and sleep all night. I love my daycare and have been in training to socialize better with other dogs and people.

I still have stranger danger and will need someone who understands my dog anxiety better. I am very sweet with all the people I am comfortable with but will still need help on my walks and meeting new people with a professional trainer. I am extremely food motivated and will do almost any command for a good treat. I can’t wait to meet you and find my forever home.

This sweet girl through no fault of her own found her self alone on the streets seeking whatever shelter and food she could find. A Good Samaritan got her to a vet and assessed a leg injury that must have been from a fight with another dog. She is doing well but will most likely have a permanent limp. Linda is safe and cared for now but will need to get into a foster home soon.

Born on January 20, 2022, I’ve overcome a lot but never lost my zest for life. Abandoned in Mexico after an accident, I had a rough start, but I’m thriving!

I’m neutered, fully vaccinated, and potty trained. I get along great with dogs (with proper intro) and kids, and I’m a snuggle expert! I love walks, adventures, and just being your happy companion. I’d prefer a single-story home with non-slippery floors and some room to play.

Adopt son Louden and his mom Lydia!

---Louden is a super-sweet 4 year old boy who is cautious on first meeting until he settles in. He is quite content once he gets to know you and can appreciate your affection... and will be your forever best friend as long as you keep his yummy soft food available! He doesn't hide from calm visitors and will be out and about, but he's more comfortable with his known circle of humans, animal friends and his Mom, Lydia. Curious and lively, Louden never wants to miss out on a game; he loves all cat toys, and is Johnny-on-the-spot when you bring out a wand toy. If you load a cat entertainment app onto the TV, he'll play "catch" on the screen! For games of solitaire, crinkle balls and catnip sticks fill out Louden's repertoire.

---Lydia has mastered the art of lounging around and letting go of stress (she'll help you relax, too!). With no more worries about finding food, she is enjoying and appreciating the comforts of a happy human home. Lydia loves being a pampered kitty and is a very calm, easygoing, and sweet five year old cat with a soft meow and gentle green eyes. She likes to cuddle in your lap and share a soft blanket with you. Lydia's one odd blind spot is her own tail: she sometimes forgets it's part of her body and feels the need to give the strange twitching thing an occasional thrashing. She's smarter about Kitty TV, and will dart behind the television in pursuit when an electronic bug goes off screen.

---Louden's world revolves around his mom, and though he has his own play interests he always circles back to check on her and gets depressed when they are separated. They are constantly grooming and cleaning each other, and it is so precious to watch their close relationship!
They MUST be adopted together.

Lydia and Louden are comfortable with other cats and have also lived with several dogs. They have done well with older children of 10 and 12 who have been taught to respect kitties.
