And where it began...well something I inherited from my mum, was the “rescuing bone”. Animals in need always seem to find me (no matter how fast I run), they have done for as long as I can remember. And then I met himself and he also seemed to attract a line of needy ones. Furthermore, they stick around waiting for us to heal them and find them the home they have spent their life – long or short –
hunting for. We’ve had wild birds, hedgehogs, a weasel (!!!!) and possums. Seems we are just missing the elephant and the monkey to be honest! We’ve seen some horrific things, we’ve held some animals in various states of distress – some bad enough to make us chunder, or cry in sheer desperation that nothing can be done and that we can’t fix the world. We have picked up that many road accidents and buried them in unmarked graves, our hearts ache for them and their families who will never know what happened to them – even though we advertise the fact we have them. A wee bonus is that along the way, we had three human children and each has also inherited that rescuing bone so the animal world has won. So somehow these guys have to eat, be desexed, wormed, deflea'd and medicated...and we kinda have to feed ourselves too! So, we have taken to making bird, chinchilla and rodent toys in our spare time whilst watching the good old tele. They are made from items collected, aged and dyed by myself and the family. Many of them are one off’s and when purchased, it’s almost like rehoming a Fuzzie! There's also a recipe book, some bug breeding books and another recipe book on the way! Emma & Garry Clegg
