We are a group of volunteers that works with local shelters for any pet that's down on their luck on the journey home. Dogs and cats most often do not show well in a kennel environment and some get continuously passed up because of this. Having worked in rescue for years, our team knows these dogs just need attention and a lot of love! We spend time with each pet to capture their true nature's thr

ough photography or video and share them on social media. Creativity is key to getting pets noticed and sometimes getting noticed in a timely manner can mean the difference between life and death for an orphaned animal. Our team is dedicated to doing everything we can to help these pets through professional photography, video biographies, and marketing the heck out of local dogs and cats in need! Do you know a dog or cat that needs some "extra oomph" to find a home? We will work with any shelter or rescue in and around the Akron-Cleveland Area. Free to use for noncommercial promoting of the pet pictured in photograph without modification. "The Shelter Pet Studio" logo must remain on the photo and not be cropped out, covered, blurred or otherwise altered in any way. We want to spread the word and help other pets so please don't remove or cover up our logo. If you have a special project with a pet you're trying to get adopted that requires this... let us know and we'll work with you to get you what you need!!

Meet Cleveland, a sweet and affectionate boy estimated to be around 4 years old and weighing 42 pounds. Despite dealing with flea dermatitis, which has left his skin needing some extra care, Cleveland’s spirit is as strong as ever! 🐾

Cleveland is a powerful guy who can be a bit much to handle at first, but once he gets to the play pen, he’s all about blowing off steam. He’s a bit particular about his toys, but we’ve noticed he’s got a special fondness for the Kong Wubba. 🧸

This handsome boy loves scratches and is incredibly affectionate. He’s also treat-motivated and takes them gently, showing off his good manners. Cleveland knows how to sit and lay down, but we’re sure he’d love to learn more in his forever home!

Cleveland is a happy, laid-back yet playful pup just waiting to enrich a lucky home. Bring your whole family (cats in a hard carrier) for a meet and greet, and see if Cleveland is the one for you! 🏡❤️

Meet Gordy, a handsome 3-year-old, 68-pound ball of fun! 🎾 This guy absolutely loves tennis balls—we got a great game of fetch going, and he would eagerly drop one ball just to chase after another! Gordy thrives in this cool 70-degree weather, but he does overheat easily, so that's something his future family should keep in mind.

Though our time with Gordy was short due to the shelter being full, he seemed pretty laid back and well-mannered. Bring your whole family (cats in a hard carrier) for a meet and greet and see if Gordy is the perfect match for your home! 🏡🐾

We love this dog’s wrinkles and happy personality 😍 Meet Rita, an adorable and extra sweet girl estimated to be around 5 years old and weighing 48 pounds. 🐾 She might have a mix of boxer, shar pei, and pit, which gives her a unique and lovable appearance!

When Rita first gets out of her kennel, she’s a little jumpy and full of energy, but after a bit, she settles into a nice loose-lead walk. She absolutely *loves* squeaky toys and enjoys running off her energy in a fenced-in yard. Her tail is always wagging, often in a full circle, showing just how happy she is! 😄

Rita is treat-motivated and takes them ever so gently. Right now, she seems to know how to sit, but with her playful and forever-puppy personality, she’s eager to learn more! She also reacts well to other dogs passing by the playpen, showing her friendly nature. 🐶

Rita is not only playful but also cuddly, frequently looking up to show the whites those sweet eyes! She loves love 🥰 If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and loyal companion, Rita might just be the perfect fit! Bring your whole family (cats in a hard carrier) for a meet and greet and see if this happy girl is the one for you! 🏡❤️

PLEASE SHARE FAR & WIDE 🙏 ALL the dogs currently at The Dogs at the Stark County Dog Warden from longest resident to shortest! Dogs we've met have a biography. Others we've just listed to get them out there. Hold dogs are NOT available for adoption yet. They are either still under stay hold, waiting to be spayed/neutered, or under medical hold. Potential adopters need to inquire with the shelter.

Fish’s last video got lots of attention but no one has come to save him 🥺 Volunteers are reporting he is depressed and does nothing but lay in his crate and stares at nothing 😭

There’s nothing Fish-y about this guy! Fish is a sweet youngster who loves humans and treats 😋. He’s a little bonkers when he first gets out due to excess energy, but we think he’s just trying to get eye level to show his love 🥰. Fish already knows several commands and would do basically anything for a treat, so training should be a breeze!

Poor Fish is displaying some neurological issues. It’s unclear if he was born with them, kept in a crate too small, or possibly had head trauma. He tends to walk in circles, but volunteer Shayna says he’s improving 🙌. Fish does some high steps with his feet and got “stuck” on the agility equipment, needing to be led down with a treat. It doesn’t seem to bother him or hinder him in any way, so we think he’ll live a happy life with a patient owner 🥰.

We hope Fish’s special needs don’t scare off potential adopters - he’s just a little wonky 😆. He still knows how to love and do tricks for treats. If you're looking for a loving companion who’s a bit unique, come meet Fish and see the joy he can bring to your life! 🐾❤️

Meet Manor, a tall drink of water with legs built for the Olympic high jump—we're pretty sure he'd take home the gold! 🥇 As a young shepherd mix, Manor is bursting with energy and might seem a bit cuckoo when he first comes out of his kennel. He's jumpy, bonkers, and has the attention span of a cornflake, but don’t let that fool you! Once we burned off some of that energy with tricks and toys, Manor showed off his super smarts. He already knows sit, paw, and down, and he’s eager to learn more! 🤓

Manor is a natural on the agility equipment, climbing and jumping with enthusiasm, especially when there's a treat involved. After some playtime in the pen, he was a dream to walk—barely pulling, except for that one time he spotted a french fry on the sidewalk! 🍟 He even posed for us, showing off his nice manners. Manor also showed a healthy interest in other dogs outside of the pen, so please *always* bring yours in for a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Cats are unknown, so they’ll need to be brought in a hard carrier.

This boy is bursting with potential! With some brain games and training, Manor is sure to become a polished gentleman. 🧐 Don’t delay—he’s ready to go home today!

Life is getting rocky for this young bundle of joy… he hates being kenneled! Who could blame him 🥺 Can you rescue him?

Looking for a fun-loving, loyal buddy? 🤩 Look no further than Rocky, a shepherd mix estimated to be about 3 years old looking for a family to be devoted to! This boy comes barreling out the gate at 100 mph, ready for action. Weighing in at 60 pounds, Rocky is looking for someone who understands the needs of a shepherd: plenty of exercise and structure 🙌

Rocky is still learning how to be a dog. He was on the run for weeks and was initially very nervous 😥 But he’s since opened up to everyone! He LOVES playing tug with a rope toy and running in the big pen. However, he doesn’t yet know his size and needs to learn not to jump up or plow into you, making him a bit too much for small children. He will need training but he comes with two free training sessions through our friends at Hopebridge RTA to get you started! 🐕

Toys can be overwhelming for Rocky when he first gets out, but we found that mental games like “find it” with treats work wonders. He’s SUPER gentle when taking treats, showing his sweet side. In his calmer moments, Rocky walks well on a leash and really hams it up for the camera. He already knows sit and lay down!

With an owner who understands Rocky has SO much potential ❤️ Come meet him, give him some time to burn off his excess energy, and you’ll see the same diamond in the rough that we see 💎

You must hate to hear it by now but Lumpy too is struggling in the shelter with self chewing 💔 PLEASE SHARE & VOLUNTEER!

VOLUNTEER FAVORITE 😍 Meet Lumpy! 🐾 This sweet boy, estimated to be around 5 years old, knows what’s expected of him and is eager to please. 🐶 Lumpy walks well on a leash once his initial excitement wears off, making him a great companion for strolls. Currently underweight and losing more due to the stress of the shelter environment, Lumpy has also shown signs of self-chewing. HE NEEDS A HERO 🦸‍♂️

Lumpy loves toys and shares them so well, showing his gentle nature. He’d be quick to pick up on fetch. This boy will probably need a home without other dogs as he’s spent a long time in the shelter and he seems sick of dogs. Bring your whole family to meet this boy who is happiest when he’s with people. Once his cooped-up energy dissipates, he’s an incredibly calm, affectionate boy, offering endless love and companionship. 🥰🏡✨ Don’t wait!

The shelter is still battling extreme numbers of stray dogs and is over capacity trying to accommodate them all. The stress is really taking a toll on Bruce Tank, Fry, and Caroline—three sweet dogs who, despite arriving at different times, are all struggling from the lack of human interaction and the mental and physical stimulation they desperately need. Because of this, they’re clawing at and destroying their kennel doors 💔. While they do improve with walks and pen time, it’s heartbreaking for volunteers to put them back, knowing that progress won’t last long. These dogs need to be rescued from this nightmare. Can you save one of these deserving dogs? 🐾💞🏡 If not can you please share?

Does this mean that these dogs will destroy your home? We understand people’s minds may jump there. We certainly can’t make promises as we don’t know the histories of these dogs but we can say none of them acted this way when they first arrived. Kennel induced stir craziness can happen in as little as a day or take months to appear. Don’t forget every dog comes with 2 free session with Hopebridge RTA should you need them. *~* SPECIAL SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT *~*

Today we are highlighting an extra special dog that needs a little extra help.

Meet Frisky 💞 this friendly girl is in need of a rescue or a very patient and understanding adopter. She has already been returned twice, and we’d like to see her go to rescue for assessment and treatment. First off, Frisky has a back leg that broke at some point and has healed incorrectly. She tends to drag it when she gets going which is causing open wounds to the top of her foot. On top of that, Frisky is also incontinent. She often messes in her kennel and then drags her leg through it. Kennel staff try to clean it often to keep her from sitting in her own excrement but with almost 70 dogs in their care, they can’t do it as often as she needs. 💔

Frisky is a young pitty mix, and has LOTS of energy. She loves to run and play in the playpen, not giving her disability even one thought. She’s so soft and super funny and just needs someone who will understand she has some extra needs. She is reportedly good with kids but may possibly need a home without other dogs. It is imperative that any family members come to see her to make sure everyone is compatible (cats in a hard carrier).

We understand she is a hard sell, but we also hope there is someone out there that can help her live her very best life 🙏🏼

Don’t forget every dog comes with 2 free session with Hopebridge RTA should you need them. Adopters should research post-adoption decompression and the rule of 3: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home.

Today marks one whole year since Tikki arrived at the shelter 💔 A first in our 6 years at SCDW for a dog to wait this long. We know you’ve shared her so much, but we’re asking again to PLEASE SHARE far and wide 🙏 Her home needs to come soon for her! She’s waited long enough 🥺

BIO: Tikki was adopted briefly and returned after an effort to introduce her to a home with other animals. Though it didn't work out, we learned some valuable things about her. She needs a home with NO other animals. She loves having her own space and has a prey drive around small animals. But she does good with the “leave it” command and ignoring others and can even be in the same vicinity as dogs when leashes are involved. When it comes to humans, she absolutely LOVES them! She wants to be a lapdog, soaking in all the love, cuddles, and kisses 🥰

A secure, fenced-in backyard would be perfect for Tikki. She loves to play, run, and lounge in the sunshine ☀️. She walks well on a harness and loves to explore!

There has to be a perfect home for Tikki! Please share her posts so they can find her 🥰. Tikki has been looking for her happy ending since August 17, 2023 💔. This breaks our hearts because Tikki is clearly used to a home and family. Estimated to be about 5-6 years old, she has the perfect balance of energy! She loves to have fun but also settles down well 😊 Tikki has trouble deciding between cuddles and playtime when she first gets out, but ultimately, the zoomies take over! She enjoys playing in the playpen and takes good care of the toys, sharing nicely too!

If you’re ready for a fun, mature, and affectionate companion, Tikki might be the perfect fit for you 🥰❤️.

Who loves PUPPIES?! We do!! And The Dogs at the Stark County Dog Warden has 2 sets available for adoption. 🐾

First up we have two adorable coonhound puppies, Bert and Ernie. They are nose to the ground, howling dogs and are all the hound lovers’ dream! These boys were available until Bert came down with Parvo 🤒 but the shelter staff acted fast and both pups are now clear! They have been at the shelter a long time and are beyond ready to leave the shelter life behind them.

Next, we have a trio of shy, sweet sisters. These three are petrified but we can see their yearning to trust. They are getting braver by the day but will need a gentle, loving hand to gain confidence and learn their basics. We have no idea what is in their mix but two are #19 and one is #27!! The vets aren’t sure how big they will get but they are only about 6 months old. Don’t make them wait too long, they deserve a home to flourish in! (Thank you, Forever In Our Hearts for the collage!)

Don’t forget every dog comes with 2 free session with Hopebridge RTA should you need them. Adopters should research post-adoption decompression and the rule of 3: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home.

Also please remember - puppies are a HUGE commitment. They need supplies, series of shots, training and food. They will live to be 10+ years old and you should be sure your lifestyle can accommodate that. ❤️ they are SO worth the effort!!

Roxy checking in to let you know she’s still available 🌸 This happy wiggle butt just wants to be loved and get the attention she never had before. 🥰 Roxy is a 4-year-old, 40-pound sweetheart who is ready for her happy ending with a family that will spoil her and never leave her alone in the streets again. 🌈

Roxy is Lyme positive and starting treatment, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying life to the fullest. She reacts well to other dogs passing by, so bring your whole family in for a meet and greet! 🐾

She loves toys and playing, and while she can be rambunctious when first out of the kennel, she calms down after about 15 minutes of playtime in the pen. 🎾 Roxy is treat-motivated and knows how to sit. What else can you teach her? 🦴

This lovely, beautiful girl is down to do whatever you want as long as she’s near you. So very affectionate and ready for her forever home! 🏡❤️

🐾 Meet Coco! 🐾 This big, beautiful husky mix is estimated to be 3 years old and just under 75 pounds. 😍 Coco is a playful girl who loves her time in the pen and knows her basic commands. She’s also a decent walker for her size, making her the perfect companion for outdoor adventures! 🚶‍♀️

Coco was adopted a year ago, but sadly, when the shelter tried to reunite her with her owner, they were not interested in claiming her. Now, she’s looking for someone who’s truly committed to giving her the forever home she deserves. 💖

Coco is positive for Lyme and anaplasmosis and is starting treatment. It’s not contagious and preventable. She’s a strong and positive girl who’s ready to move on to a brighter future. 🌟

Bring your whole family (cats in a hard carrier) for a meet and greet to see if Coco is the right fit for your home! 🏡

UPDATE: ADOPTED 🐾 Meet Low Rider! 🐾 This stocky, short-legged cutie is about 3 years old and weighs around 48 pounds. We knew he’d be adopted quickly because he’s so cute, but unfortunately, it was the wrong family for him, and he was brought back the same day. Focusing on the positive, Low Rider had lots of interest, and we’re hopeful he’ll find the forever family of his dreams soon! 🌟

Low Rider is a very happy and social boy who loves being the center of attention. He’s fun, playful, and always ready for a good time! 🎉 He loves that everyone wants to stop and pet him and tell him what a handsome boy he is 🥰

He is dominant with other dogs, so meet and greets are a must to ensure he’s the right fit. He’s likely not suited for a home with cats, but you can try with a meet and greet by bringing them in a hard carrier. 🐾 This strong boy will need some training, as he has a bit of a leg-humping habit. With time, consistency, and training from his future family, this behavior should stop. He also just got neutered within the last week.

Please go meet this handsome ham, but only commit if you’re ready for a forever relationship! 💖

Don’t forget every dog comes with 2 free session with Hopebridge RTA should you need them. Adopters should research post-adoption decompression and the rule of 3: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine and 3 months to start to feel at home.
