Welcome to Rebel Farm! Here at Rebel Farm, we pride ourselves on keeping and raising animals that are healthy, happy, and friendly!
(5)
We are currently raising Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Shetland Sheep, Kune Kune Pigs, and several varieties of Rabbit (Silver Fox, Rex, Californian). We also are home to several horses, a mini horse and a donkey, chickens, guineas, and muscovy ducks, livestock guardian dogs, and our barnyard cats. Many of our non breeder animals have been rescued or adopted, but we now have to be very careful about bring
ing in anyone new, for the health and safety of our current furry and feathered friends. Now for my real passion... I LOVE to talk to people about my animals, and I love to teach what I know. I don't ever claim to be an expert, but I do the best I can to be knowledgeable about the animals in my care, and I love to share that knowledge with both adults and children. Having said that, we are getting ready to open up for farm visits. Currently, we are scheduling independent visits on a single family or very small group basis. Please keep in mind that we are brand new to this, and are working on various projects around the farm to make things run smoothly and be more guest-friendly, while still focusing on the health and well-being of our animal family.

Merry Christmas from Rebel Farm! We just got one of the best gifts ever... success story and pictures from one of our livestock guardian clients! It makes us so happy to see this little girl fitting in so well! I can't wait to see the last four find their perfect fit!

Edit: Mus-Tasha has found her person and farm!
Our three girls that are looking for their place in the work force!
Mustasha will gladly take an ear rub if you give it to her, but would really rather be out scouting if she had the choice!
Wednesday is one of our smaller girls. She will gladly hang out for a quick training session or some attention, but is definitely happy to be left to get own devices, as well.
Tuesday is going to be one of the easier pups to keep the attention of. She will sit all day with me if I give her some love! Tuesday is also the biggest female in the litter.

Update: Forest and Quizlet are still looking for new jobs! Pugsley is headed to his new farm with his new boy!
Forest loves everyone, ands is super quick at learning and adapting! He is a lot like his Daddy!
Pugsley seems to be a lot like my old guy, Lex. He's not the bravest puppy in the lot, but he might have the biggest heart! Anytime we can't find a puppy, it's usually Because Pugs has found a quiet place to take a nap.
Quizlet is up for whatever you throw at him. He tends to just roll with it. He is happy to get some attention when it is offered, but just as happy to just keep exploring and figuring out the world around him.

Booth went to learn his new job with his new family today! We are sad to see him go, but so excited to see him grow!

Puppy update! I will share more pics in the comments! Still looking for great new jobs in new pastures for most of these guys!

Considering having a shearer come in the spring... Anyone else that want to haul in for it? My current price after splitting the site fee across each sheep is looking like $14 ish per sheep, it goes down with the more we do at one place.

After some serious contemplation, I will be offering a deep discount for remaining available puppies that can be picked up this coming week to approved homes only. I am willing to let them go for $600 this week only, in the interest of getting them into permanent homes before everyone gets busy with the Holidays, including myself.
I am going to start working on some serious training with those that are left, and would prefer to get my numbers down before then. Once I start training, prices will go up!

Quizlet is so unique with that eyebrow, always looking like he's trying to figure you out! He is going to be a big boy, and has shown that he will be great with everyone. He would likely do great in any situation! He will learn whatever job you give him pretty quickly! If he is what you've been looking for, shoot me a message!
17/11/2023
The only real difference in two of the female brindle puppies is that one had no white on one that one front foot. The other was Wednesday. I was forever picking up this little girl and stating, "not Wednesday," so she became Tuesday!
Tuesday has shown that she is very personable, will likely take to training and her new family very well, and could easily go any direction you want her to go. If you need Tuesday in your life, send me a message!
17/11/2023
Wednesday is my oldest daughter's favorite puppy, but we can't keep them all! She also tested highly independent, but her "backup" scores show that she will also be fairly easily trained. Wednesday will likely thrive in almost any situation, given the right support to take her in the direction you want to go. Let me know if she is the missing piece for you!
17/11/2023
Forest is going to be someone's best friend! He scored great on his aptitude test, telling us he will be great with everyone, easy to train, and a great option for someone just getting into LGD's! If you are looking for a buddy to help watch over your home, critters, and/or family, he is it!!
17/11/2023
Update: Cinnamon has found her person, and will be sticking VERY close to home. Nothing better than Grandma's love!
Cinnamon is such a sweet, quiet girl. She has tested as highly independent, and from experiences here, would probably do best in a home without a lot of extra people bustling around. I have a feeling she will bond very closely with her person or people, and would be great as a working dog, but will likely not be very social otherwise, as a crowd makes her a little nervous. If she sounds like she could be your perfect fit, please let me know!

Mus-Tasha just left for her new farm! She seemed to know who her new person was from the moment she saw her, it is so cool to see these connections being made! I believe that from here out, she is being called Keeper, and it totally fits!
Mus-Tasha had such unique markings, I called her the Mustache Puppy for so long that it just kind of stuck. Her test scores were very close, with the category labeling her as Ms. Independent coming out on top. She thinks she would be just fine, with or without human interference. This is completely normal in LGDs, by the way, just slightly more prominent in this beautiful little girl. Her next two categories, however, peg her as being very people friendly, so my guess is she will be happy to have whatever attention she can get, but also perfectly willing to work on her own. She would probably do best in a working home of some capacity.
17/11/2023
Bitsy went home with her new little boy and farm family!
Bitsy is the tiniest one, and she loves everyone! Her badger markings will likely fade out quite a bit as she grows, but her personality won't! Her test scores show that she might have a little extra energy, but will otherwise be very easy to handle and train (well, as easy as you can expect from an lgd!) Probably would be better for someone with at least some dog training knowledge, but doesn't necessarily need to be extensive. If you already know the basics of training, she would probably be great for you to take in any direction!

Update: Pugsley went to his new farm today... I think he and a certain little boy are going to be best buddies! We can't wait for updates!
Pugsley is one of our favorites! He is the biggest puppy, and his fluffy butt is usually one of the first to greet us, and is always ready for a food, which should help make him super easy to train, and his test scores agree! He scored high in two categories... the first being that he will be an amazing pet, super obedient, and great for a first time lgd owner! The second category did show that he might be a little more fearful than some others... HOWEVER, he was also one of the last puppies we did, and it was starting to get dark out. I honestly think he may have been a little better at this otherwise.
Pugsley will be one of my more pet oriented, more easily trainable pups from this litter, and would do well in a working home, pet home (with plenty of room to run), or just as a farm dog. If this sounds like a good fit for you, let me know!!

Why do we temperament test?
I'll be completely honest, I didn't put a lot of stock into this "paper test" when I first heard about it. It's kind of like a test from a teen magazine... 10 quick questions, scored one through 6, mostly 1's is... mostly 2's is...
You get the picture.
But the breeder I bought my first two LGD's from depended on those results, and let me tell you what happened.
When we went looking for Lex, we didn't have a ton of animals. I had 5 little kids, plus 4h at my house every other weekend, no lgd experience, no older dog to help him out. I told Alina at Cornerstone Acres Farm that I needed a dog that would guard, but needed to be good with kids and other people, and would likely be highly treated as a pet. He is all that, and so much more... I'm tearing up writing this because my guy is now 9 years old, and I can't imagine life without him. I will say, he was not bonded with the stock (my adult stock wouldn't allow him at the time), and doesn't really care about them, but he protects our space, and he watches EVERYTHING on this farm, with not a mean bone in his body. He will bark to warn things or people away, and then he will come get help.
When we got ready for Raksha, I went straight back to Alina and told her I wanted one a little more towards a working dog, a little less stranger friendly, a little less people dependent. She delivered again. Raksha is amazing with us, and with kids, and with people I introduce her to, but she is much more reserved around anyone she doesn't know is OK.
I will never not test my pups. I want them to end up in the homes they are meant to be in, and that means setting them up for successful lives in homes they will excel in. Keep in mind, these breeds are bred to be independent and watchful, so they should all lean that direction, but they also have their own personalities and instincts that play a part.
Having said that, let me explain the testing a little...
OFFERING VOLHARD PUPPY APTITUDE TESTING
This test helps you get the dog you want and the dog you are most well matched with, we use the Volhard test which is amazingly accurate in predicting inherited behavioral tendencies and how the puppy will turn out as an adult. This test is performed at 7 weeks of age as recommended.
Available to those waiting on the puppy list and breeders looking to place their puppies in forever, well matched homes.
The tests are as follows:
1. Social Attraction - degree of social attraction to people, confidence or dependence.
2. Following - willingness to follow a person.
3. Restraint - degree of dominant or submissive tendency, and ease of handling in difficult situations.
4. Social Dominance - degree of acceptance of social dominance by a person.
5. Elevation - degree of accepting dominance while in a position of no control, such as at the veterinarian or groomer.
6. Retrieving - degree of willingness to do something for you. Together with Social Attraction and Following a key indicator for ease or difficulty in training.
7. Touch Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to touch and a key indicator to the type of training equipment required.
8. Sound Sensitivity - degree of sensitivity to sound, such as loud noises or thunderstorms.
9. Sight Sensitivity - degree of response to a moving object, such as chasing bicycles, children or squirrels.
10. Stability - degree of startle response to a strange object.
These are quick, easy little tests, done by a person they don't know, in a place they don't know, to test their basic instincts and skills. We do things like call them to us, pick them up under their belly, roll them over, throw a paper ball, and open an umbrella in front of them. Nothing super strenuous or scary to them, just actions that test how they react to these things.
Afterwards, they all got lots of love and reassurance, and a nice warm meal before mom came back in to love in them as well. I got one more tool in my toolbox to help them find their forever homes and jobs.
16/11/2023
Temperament testing has been completed, and my goal is to share each puppy with their personal results and my own notes on each over the next few days. They get their shots next week and will be ready to go!

Livestock guardian puppies! Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees. Working parents, working lines, raised around goats, sheep, horses, chickens, cats, ducks, donkey, and more, and already great at letting us know what is going on. Well socialized with kids and adults both, and full of personality! Born 9/24/2023, will be up to date on vaccines and ready to learn their new jobs after 11/22/2023.
25/10/2023
Puppy profile shots! I will add the rest as I get them!

Puppy update! 3 1/2 weeks old, they got their first puppy mush today, and they are so cute! Already showing guard tendencies (barking when doors open, etc) and growing like weeds! I wish I could keep them all, but sadly, at least 9 of them will be guarding other pastures in a couple months. They are 66.5% Anatolian Shepherd, 32.75% Great Pyrenees, and 0.75% Akbash... that equals 100% amazing genetics for a livestock guardian! Short hair, so low grooming, but still thick, so able to keep themselves warm on the job! Working lines, working parents. I am accepting deposits!

Chip's Social Visit
Just a quick video for those of you that think Shetlands, or sheep in general, aren't friendly. This little girl is being 100% dam raised. We spend a lot of time with them, and it doesn't hurt that both of her parents are very loving, as well.
Momma Muscovy brought the babies to visit!
This momma Muscovy duck has been keeping her babies well away from the barnyard and the main flock, but this morning she decided to share them with us! Also, it occurs to me that Momma duck might need a real name... Any suggestions?
Miss Mollie's baby kicks!
Woo! Look at those baby kicks! Miss Mollie didn't kid when everyone else did in April, but she's getting close now! Anyone want to take a guess on what she'll give us? First person to guess correctly will win a prize!
Our Barn Rabbit
Last year, this little girl bunny almost didn't make it. I was ready to give up on her, but Brailyn wasn't, and I caved. As part of a last ditch effort, I turned her loose in the barnyard. (we did not just leave her to fend for herself... She has always had full access to the barns, hay, and feed) Today, we caught her laying on top of and grooming the pregnant mommas in the barn, and decided she has reached a point where she needs a name. Brailyn suggested Alice, like Alice in Wonderland, because she goes down the rabbit hole. So... Meet Alice! I have a feeling she is going to have many adventures to share!
