Signs of Dehydration in Dogs 🐶💧

It’s crucial to recognize the signs of dehydration in your dog, especially during a heatwave. Look out for:

• Excessive Panting: 🥵 Rapid and heavy breathing can indicate overheating.
• Dry Nose and Gums: 🐕 A dry, sticky mouth is a warning sign.
• Lethargy: 😴 If your dog seems unusually tired or sluggish.
• Loss of Skin Elasticity: ✋ Gently pinch your dog’s skin; if it doesn’t snap back quickly, they might be dehydrated.

Tips to Keep Your Dog Safe 🌡️🐩

1. Hydration is Key:
• Always ensure your dog has access to fresh, cool water. 💦 Carry a portable water bowl during walks.
• Offer ice cubes as a cool treat. 🧊
2. Walk During Cooler Hours:
• Schedule walks early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are lower. 🌅🌇
3. Avoid Hot Pavements:
• Hot pavement can burn your dog’s paws. 🐾 Test the pavement with your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your dog.

Sadly, one of our very long time clients has unexpectedly passed away today 😭 Jannette was a beautiful, laid back black lab in Haverhill and we would walk her 7 days a week.
