Lena is home. We appreciate everyone who has reached out and loved on us through this heartbreaking time.

Tonight we said goodbye to Lena. Our hearts are broken but we know it was the right decision. Her little body was shutting down and as much as we tried to convince ourselves that she was fine, she wasn't fine. She was down to 59.5lbs tonight and looked like skin and bones. We want to thank all of our family and friends who have been visiting her and checking on all of us over the last couple weeks. Thankfully, we have the best vet. Dr. Nicole made the hour long trip tonight and cried with us as we all loved on Lena as she crossed over. We love you Baby Girl. Thank you for being our goofy, lovable pup.

Her brother brought her a treat on Saturday! Part of the sandwich and eggs in the morning were all we could get her to eat that day.

Lena’s body is no longer absorbing protein and she isn’t interested in eating. She’s losing a pound a week and she is so thin that every ribis showing. It’s so hard to let her go but we love her too much to let her suffer. We’re going to love on her and spoil her even more than usual over the next couple days as we prepare to let her go to the rainbow bridge. This is the hard part of being greyhound parents. 💔

Tonight, we lit a candle for Blue's extended family for . Tens of thousands of Galgos (Spanish greyhounds) and podencos are bred each year to be used and abused for hunting in Spain. February 1st marks the end of hunting season, and the beginning of the torture and slaughter of thousands of these beautiful dogs. Hunters 'dispose' of Galgos in the most horrific ways imaginable ... hung from trees, thrown into wells, starved, beaten to death or abandoned. Like greyhounds, many locals do not consider these gentle dogs as 'pets.' They are forgotten and discarded. They desperately need help.
