Breeder friends... On my two peas...I'm using sudocream every three days, if not Bepanthen cream. Having to be toilet nanny and reaction to meds they are ingesting, they have sore botties. They get washed in very diluted salt water.

I can't use isaderm/betafuse as it'll counteract with other kitten meds. Any thoughts...sorry for graphic photos.

Tonight we gave them some floor time. It helps them get excersise, helps moves their Bowles, builds their will to thrive and reconnect with mums and other kittens.

Today was a good day.

It’s actually really a HUGE step forward. As I’m usually the toilet nanny… so this is independence and signs of normal health. You got to take the positives when they come.

I’ve been hand rearing these two since they were just over 2 weeeks old. They have been through the mill, vets think mums colostrum was not good enough as a 1st time mum. So they just dipped and we’re fading we think either viral set in with bacterial infection… swabs are still with lab. Which happens.

A week in they were 250gms now 340gms nearly 3 weeks after. This week the girl started eating on her own, by herself. The wee boy I still have to line feed into his tummy. They started on milk but we are now moving onto more solid style ingredients-that can go into a feeding tube.

They were too weak to go onto mum besides she and others had rejected them, mum cats tend to reject anything that does not smell healthy or is not fit. (That’s normal) They will wash them, then turn away. Sad harsh reality.

It’s been the hardest experience nursing these two round the clock - taking every inch of my experience, wisdom and more. A full team of vets have run down Rabit holes of academic paperwork to reinvent neonatal feline care with me, throwing new concepts. Even Dr Addie visited them all the way from France.

They are supported by a new cocktail of meds, food and oxygen therapy, without which they would not be here.

Tackling a low immunity with no mother’s antibodies, we are no way out of deep water.

But today I decided it was time to share my two peas in a pod. Just because I’m proud they have fought so hard to get where they are.

Last weekend our ceiling in the office/ICU room decided to identify as the floor.

While we are renovating our home, it was an opportunity to review the design and turn it into something more useful. It’s now our pets kitchen and ICU room with en-suite bathroom/ utility room. Stay positive during challenges.
