Rory is well on his way to becoming a Very Impressive Puppy!

For the next two weeks, Rory will be a VIP guest in our home. During his stay he will receive house training, crate training, proper socialization, manners training, confidence building and so much more.

If your puppy is between 8 to 16 weeks of age, we can help him or her become a Very Impressive Puppy through our VIP Stay & Learn Program.

Ande has come such a long way!

A few weeks ago, she would bark and growl at strangers in her home, especially if they were moving around. Back then, Chan couldn’t even wiggle his toes without sending her into a frenzy!

Today, she was mostly relaxed, even when we stood up and moved around. We still have more work to do but overall she has made amazing progress.

Congratulations to Ande and her mom!

Charlotte County will open two storm shelters in Port Charlotte at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 25. Evacuations have been ordered for barrier islands, low-lying and flood-prone areas along the coast, canals and rivers, manufactured homes and any homes that may not withstand high winds such as those that may be comprised from previous storms or that historically flood. This includes those living on the barrier islands of Don Pedro Island, Knight Islands (Palm Island), Little Gasparilla Island, Gasparilla Island, and Manasota Key, as well as residents in any zone living in mobile homes and trailers.

It is advised you stay with friends and family members who live outside of evacuation areas or flood zones, in a well-constructed home. If you have no place to go, shelters are last resort. If you are planning to go to a storm shelter bring the following supplies for each family member and pets (all Charlotte County shelters are pet friendly).

The following shelter locations are open:
• Kingsway Elementary School 23300 Quasar Blvd., Port Charlotte
• Harold Ave. Regional Park Recreation Center 23400 Harold Ave., Port Charlotte

Leash reactive dogs who desire access to other dogs need to be rewarded for the absence of barking, lunging and growling. To help Louie achieve success, we had him walk past his buddy Charlie, after a brief play session. Successful behavior modification requires an incremental plan that starts out easy and then gradually gets more difficult. Next time Louie will walk past Charlie after playing with another dog. If that goes well, we will introduce novel dogs and push back on the pre-play parameter.
