Day 2 of our dog sport weekend consisted of the GSDCSD agility trial. Got to hang out with Jackson again!

I ran 16” open standard preferred and 16” open JWW preferred. No Q in JWW, I was running clean but then missed my weave entry. Standard went well though and I qualified with a 1st place, and earned my title!

It’s a Dog Sports kind of weekend…starting off with Valley Center Dog Dock’s first NADD trial of the 2025 season. We had a great day! I earned my Dock Senior Excellent title after qualifying 55 times in the Senior division (jumping between 15’ and 19’11”) .

Brother had two solid jumps in the Senior division too, and then surprised us all with a personal best of 20’ and earning his first Q in the Master division! Good boy brother!

We also had fun hanging out with Klyckit (not pictured) for her very first Dock Diving trial, Brady the whippet, and our standard poodle buddies Jackson & TBD.

Tomorrow, I compete in an agility trial and then Sunday, Rumble is participating in a demo for a group of Navy families.

We participated in a Detective/Master Interior trial this morning and came away with 2 new Q’s! Unfortunately we NQ’d in both our Master Interior searches, but Mom was thrilled to earn 2 new Detective Q’s.

We were only one of two dogs who qualified in the first Detective search, coming in 1st place. The second Detective trial had 9 dogs qualify, and we came in 2nd place.

We are halfway to our Detective title! Now if we could only earn a couple of Master Interior Q’s! 😆

I ran in Novice Container, working towards my Novice Container Elite title. Rumble competed in Master Container, but his handler called a false alert so no Q for him in that.

We also competed in Novice Handler Discrimination and both qualified! I came in First Place and Rumble came in 5th. There were only 6 dogs who qualified and 5 out of 6 were from our club! Congrats to all!

Huge thanks to our judges: Steve, Sally and Debby and to all the volunteers who helped make it a successful trial!

The dogs were good this weekend! We had such a fun weekend of Agility with our friends.

In the group shot, Lumi (left) went 4 for 4 this weekend, earning his Novice Standard and Novice Jumpers title.

I was qualified in both my Open Standard 16” Preferred runs, but NQ’d in both my Jumpers runs. Those darn weave poles got me both times. Only need one more leg for that Open Standard title!

Jackson (the Standard Poodle) Q’s in 1 out of 2 of his Standard runs, earning 1st place! He looked awesome, hitting all his contacts and listening to his human well.

Wiki Wiki (MAS) qualified in 1 out of 2 of her Standard runs, earning her first Q’s towards her Novice title. She looked great too, running confidently and super connected to her human.

Thanks to the for hosting a fun trial!

Agility trial this afternoon - hosted by the

It was my first time running in Open! The courses are harder and there is less room for error at the Open level. I competed in Preferred Standard and Preferred JWW.

Ran my Jumpers course first, and, oops! came out of the weave poles early, so we didn’t qualify. It was a fun course though!

Then we ran our Standard course. Mom knew the dog walk would be a tough obstacle to keep me off of, but I was able to run the rest of the course clean and qualify in my first open class. Even earned a first place, with a score of 95!

We are back tomorrow for another try at both the Standard and Jumpers courses. Fingers crossed we Q!

Hey, look at that! I’m the number 1 Lagotto in the 2023 rankings for FastCAT…which means I earned an invite to the 2024

Slow poke brother made it in to the top 20 at least. He needs to do some more speed drills 🤣

Unfortunately we won’t be able to attend, , since they are holding the invitationals in Ohio and that’s a pretty long drive. Still cool to make the cut though!

Guess we need to start doing more FastCATs again this year so we can at least get ranked for 2024!

We had a much anticipated vet visit with Miss Coco this morning.

When she was with the family who adopted her, she dislocated her hip. From what we were told, one of the adults had bathed her and was towel drying her on their lap, when she tried to jump down. They grabbed her back leg to stop her, and her hip was dislocated. 😢 They took her to the vet, but the vet was unable to get her hip back into the socket, so they ended up having to do a FHO. This means they cut off the femoral head (the ball that fits into the socket) and remove it and as the dog heals a “false” joint is formed. Not an uncommon procedure, but when she came back to us she wasn’t using her leg at all and it was very painful.

Mom was able to get X-rays from the vet who did the procedure, but as you can see in the one X-ray (the one with the towel clamp in the image)…the femoral head was cut off but still visible in the hip socket. Mom tried to find out if this was an Intra-op X-ray, or a post-op X-ray and the vet kept saying it was post-op. That was concerning!!! The femoral head should not have been left in the hip socket after it was cut off.

So today she had new X-rays taken, to confirm if that actually was the case…and good news, it wasn’t! The X-rays that were being called post-op, were in fact intra-op.

Over the month and a half that she’s been with us, Coco is slowly starting to use that leg a bit more…but the muscle is still pretty atrophied. So the next steps are to see if there is anything surgical that could be done to help her recovery or if she just need some rehab and PT to strengthen that leg and build some muscle. Our vet is going to consult with a surgeon to see what they recommend.

In the meantime, she will be started on a supplement called Myos, which will help start to build that muscle while we wait.

Fingers crossed she won’t need another surgery!

Brother decided the view at was better from on top of the picnic table.

Plus, it was closer to Mom’s treat stash and thought he might have a good chance of sneaking a few treats when Mom wasn’t looking.

Spent the day with friends up in Huntington Beach at a element trial. Brother got to run in Level 1 Containers and qualified in 3 out 4 of his searches…earning him a “leg” towards his L1C element title.

I ran Level 1 Interior and qualified in 4 out of 4 of my searches, earning my L1I element title!

It was a super fun day, a well run trial, and the weather was perfect! Big thanks to all the volunteers and the judges for running such a smooth trial…which was hosted by

Miss Coco had to come along for the ride, since we were going to be gone ALL day long. She was a super trooper and such a fabulous traveler! She was even snoring super loud on the way home, so Mom had to snap a picture. 😂

We had a great day at the Let’s Luau trial today.

I jumped a new personal best of 21’3”!

Only 2 more master distance jumps for my Dock Master title.

Rumble earned his title (30 jumps at the Senior distance) and we BOTH earned our Novice titles!

Fun fact: I swam Hydrodash first, which means I earned my title first and am the very first Lagotto EVER to earn an HD title!

Miss Fergie KitTON had a bit of an unexpected adventure today. She decided to sneak out the back door when the dog walker stopped by….without the dog walker knowing. She ended up spending about 7 hours in the backyard. This is a 14 year old cat who has only ever been outside for about 10 minutes at a time, and only when Mom is right near by. She is strictly an indoor feline.

Thankfully, me & brother notified Mom that a “critter” was hiding out in the backyard. Mom thought it was our neighbors kitty at first, but then realized it was Fergie!

Thankfully she was fine, and let’s be honest…even if the dog walker had noticed her sneaking out, Fergie is a super grump and would never have let herself be picked up by a stranger!

Hopefully she learned her lesson and won’t try her shenanigans again!

Recheck vet appointment for Brother, and Mom decided to take Miss Coco along to get an official weight on her. She only weighs 15 lbs! Such a wee little thing.

The vet was very happy with Rumble’s recovery. We will stick to a low fat diet and low fat treats for now, and maybe in the future try to wean him back on to his raw diet and see how he handles it.

Guess who’s back with us!

Remember our foster from earlier this year? Well, we are sad to say Coco’s new family didn’t work out, thru no fault of Coco’s. They messaged Mom today asking if they could return her, and of course Mom said absolutely!

So, Coco is going to be with us for a little while. She is already settling in nicely and once Mom feels she is ready, we will start the hunt for the perfect family.

We are so glad Brother continues to feel better and better. He is pretty much back to his usual self, eating great…no vomiting and his 💩 is getting back to normal too. He’s still on very low fat food and treats, but lucky we found that meets that criteria and he gobbles it up.

He goes back to the vet on Thursday for a recheck, so we will keep you posted!
