Spotted a lab/retriever type white dog on 9G on the way to Red Hook. Eating garbage by side of road, tried to coax into car but it was too shy and kept retreating. On the chubby side, white fur, wearing black harness. Ran off into woods near the address of 4045 NY-199 outside Red Hook on the opposite side of street.

Swimming is a great way to keep animals cool in this heat! But please be mindful that not all animals are able to jump right in and start stroking! So throwing Fido in at the BBQ may result in a downed doggy!!!! Take the time to practice water safety with your companions, just as you would with your children.
And don't forget to keep an eye on pads and skin - chlorine can dry them right up.
