Me!
On Feb 13 I was looking thru my FB and saw an ad for an AKC reg 18 mo old female standard "good for breeding" it said. My heart sank, I knew at the low price they had her listed at she would go to a puppy mill for sure. I went to bed and tossed and turned all night thinking about that dog and what kind of life she had ahead of her, I got up on Valentines day and told Jim I am going to get that dog and find her a good home. He knew better than to argue when it comes to a poodle in need and just said "ok Amy". My friend Denise and I headed to southern Ohio to pick up Shasta, when we got there we found her living in the backyard because they claimed she was not housebroken. She was so dirty you couldn't tell what color she was or that she was a Parti poodle. We brought her home, I cleaned her up (it took 4 baths to get her clean), gave her a groom, vaccinated her and made a vet appt. She weighed a mere 35 lbs, full of fleas and worms. I was working on a fabulous future home for her with a previous puppy buyer when it happened...my husband fell in love with Shasta. Well that was not my plan but I have to admit she wiggles her way into your heart wether or not you had planned it. She has not had one accident in the house, has learned what toys are and has gained some weight. She is amazing with the other dogs even the small ones. This week she was spayed and is now recovering. Sometimes things are just meant to be I guess!
My daughter had this made for me several years ago, I found myself looking at it today as it hangs in my hallway, most of them are gone now and each one took a piece of my heart with them, not gone just gone ahead, the rainbow Bridge is gonna be crowded when I get there, until we meet again kiddos ❤️🐾
Who was listening when I sent your puppy home (this is not one of mine) when I told you no matter your age make arrangements for your dog if something should happen to you-this is why, poor baby.

Luna will be celebrating her 16th Christmas this year! She turned 16 in October and had her yearly checkup and bloodwork in November and all was looking good! . A little hard of hearing, eye sight not quite what it used to be and despite some arthritis she still keeps up with the younger crowd when she goes outside for a run! I actually have to hide the ball or she would chase it non stop! She has been such a joy since she became part of our family 12 yrs ago. 💕
Happy Thanksgiving
This is SOOOO ME
Had to share this one, all true. When I was still breeding I would get numerous calls of families who bought a doodle because they were told "hypoallergenic" only to find out their family member was allergic to the doodle because unless tested YOU CANNOT GUARANTEE HOW MUCH OF ANOTHER BREED IS IN THE MIX! The beauty of owning a poodle is that you can groom it to look any way you like-so why doodle when you can poodle ❤️🐾
Taken from another post but was too good not to share:
❤️food for thought....All three of these dogs look like a doodle...right? A non-shedding, intelligent, trainable pet that looks like a teddy bear & without the “fancy poodle” look. Guess what my friends... these 3 dogs are poodles ... purebred, standard poodles with a teddy bear cut.
🧠Intelligence=poodle
🧹Non Shedding = poodle
🎓Easy to train = poodle
🐻Teddy bear Cut = Groomer
🛑People spend 2.5x (plus) the price of a purebred poodle, for a mixed breed dog that comes with no papers, typically no genetic testing & zero knowledge of the genetic history and pedigree. Please realize that doodles are popping up in rescues in crazy amounts due to unforeseen behaviors and physical traits that the breeders had no idea of knowing.... ie: shedding. It’s rare that you will find a well bred poodle in a shelter... why? Because reputable breeders take their puppies back if you can’t keep them.
⭐️Wally Conran was the first to breed a doodle and to quote his thoughts "I opened a Pandora's box, that's what I did. I released a Frankenstein. So many people are just breeding for the money. So many of these dogs have physical problems, and a lot of them are just crazy.”
💰Just because someone stuck a high price tag on the product, doesn’t mean the product is worth the price.
Buyers also don’t realize the slim chance that the puppy will not shed, or may not get the good behavior/intelligence of a standard. Wally Conran tested a litter of 10 doodles, 3 were non shedding.
Goldendoodles are a cross between a golden and a poodle. How can ANYONE guarantee non shedding when golden’s shed? Even if it’s 5th generation doodle, how can you guarantee non shedding unless genetic testing is done to guarantee that the golden gene didn’t make its way down through the gene pool? They can’t!!!
Poodles come in MANY different colors too! And yes you can get a cream/Appricot/red poodle that is the same color as a golden.
I Love this. Don't ever let someone shame you for owning a purebred. Responsible breeders are not the reason the shelters are full.
Update 8/13 He has found a wonderful home! Pictures to come soon!
This handsome dude is still looking for his perfect home. Thirteen weeks old, current on vaccinations, deworming, microchipped, fully health tested and titled parents. This guy would excel in a performance home or with an active family/person. He is the most congenial guy. Loves to snuggle, very handler oriented, intelligent, and incredibly sweet.
Then there is the algae blooms....
Because I have not reminded you in awhile and our yard is covered with all the rain we have had...

The Poodle is a multi-faceted dog that performs many functions. Poodles are standouts in the show ring, as hunting dogs, as therapy dogs, and more.
What have I been doing since I retired from breeding? In 2017 I opened a small boarding kennel, and over the winter 2022/2023 we put in a brand new building, still small and personalized but that's exactly how I designed it-I wanted to be able to give each of our canine and feline guest individual care, do I miss breeding? Yes at times, but the kennel keeps me very busy!

Remember those miniature red poodles I took in from a hoarder situation 5 yrs ago? Well all 17 are in amazing homes and Miss Ginger was a runway model in New York City this year and even in Dogue magazine. Talk about a rags to riches story!

Look what popped up on my memories! Baby Shannon just after we picked her up at the Baltimore Airport, she road in cabin with her breeder who was coming in for the Poodle Club of America National Speciality show, I still remember her tiny self trotting thru the airport like she owned the place saying hello to everyone along the way!

Emotional day here at O'Kaylyn Farms, my daughter Kayla turns 25 on this sunny St Patricks Day and Shannon, the last of my breeding girls is being spayed, the end of a 35 year span of breeding poodles, I will cherish the years I had bringing puppies into this world and will be forever addicted to puppy breath! I will never be without a poodle in my life and those of you who have had the opportunity to love a poodle know there is none other that can compare. Had a great weekend camping with the boys and running Lure, I didn't get pics of Tristan running because I was too excited with how well he did!😀
It is frigid outside and no end in sight for a week but I needed to get these little guys outside so we could check that off our list, we only stayed out about 5 minutes but they seemed to enjoy helping clear the sidewalk in the dogs yard!
Stacey came by to help me with puppy baths and pictures today (I think she just wanted to play with puppies tho!)😁
No worries, Treasure is on the job as the official puppy sitter as usual, she is 11 1/2 yrs old now ♥️
Here is group one, I have them divided into fours so I can better monitor who is eating etc plus this group is just slightly smaller in size. I have them coded- girls have shaved faces the boy has a moustache! First time outside in the sunshine!
Rescue Report...the babies have arrived and I saw them this morning-and again to anyone who does rescue full time my heart goes out to you! Puppies are various shades of reds, a couple may be light apricot in the end and there are males and females-the numbers and sexes are completely wrong from the original report of course. Right now they are underweight, loaded with worms, loaded with fleas and appear to be younger than she originally reported or it could be poor nutrition holding them back. I am leary about them being where they are for the next two weeks but that is out of my control right now. :( I held one tiny little girl here with me as she appeared to be in the worst shape, she is in Amy's hospital ward AKA my living room on a heating pad and with her very own froggy for company! Prayers everyone that they all make it, I am worried at this point.
