If you are giving away free kittens, with no adoption process, you are taking a HUGE risk with your kittens‼️All you want is a “good home” for them, but here are your obstacles:
1. PEOPLE WILL LIE TO YOU. 😕
I’ve done it myself to get kittens out of a bad situation! AND it was easy, because the right questions were not being asked.
2. PEOPLE WITH BAD INTENTIONS LOOK FOR FREE KITTENS. 😭
These folks will DEFINITELY lie to you, often having someone more trusting pose as the adopter instead of themselves. Snake food, dog fighting, abuse, etc. Is this the majority? I don’t think so, but these people DO exist and it’s important to ask the right questions to potential adopters to be able to spot them.
3. YOUR KITTENS DESERVE MEDICAL CARE. 🤒
If you love your kittens, you want to be sure that they are dewormed, flea-treated, microchipped and vaccinated at the proper ages. You also want to be sure that your adopter will be able to afford to have them spayed or neutered before they reach sexual maturity (around 4 months of age) or be able to handle an emergency vet bill should one arise. If they can’t afford a small adoption fee, there’s a good chance they won’t be able to afford proper vet care the kitten NEEDS.
4. KITTENS MAY BE RETURNED. 🐈
As an individual, you are not accustomed to rehoming animals everyday. Take it from shelters and rescues… animals are returned for a variety of reasons. Where shelters and rescues have the ability to take them back, you, as an individual, may not. This is a bad situation for the innocent kitten as no one wants it.
If you do not have your mama cat spayed ASAP and you are giving away free, unaltered kittens, you are linking yourself to the huge overpopulation crisis that shelters and rescues are working so hard against everyday. ❌ You HAVE to look at this with a different perspective… the problem is so much bigger than just you and your litter of kittens.
