I don't know if you remember me, but we adopted Tink 10 years ago. She was the runt of the litter and she was so teeny. She could walk under our chihuahuas tummy.
Well let me tell you...she has been the light of our lives. She goes EVERYWHERE with us and she is slowing down but she's our baby.

Wally was born on 3/8/2024. He is an adorable French Bulldog and Boston Terrier mix. Wally was named, because he is wall eyed. This just makes him extra special. Wally for wall eyed or for baby walrus, because he’s a short chunky puppy. Both make him so much cuter. Wally has the best and sweetest personality. He is such a cuddler, gives kisses, and loves to sit with you. He will sit right next to you and put his paw on you. Wally loves other dogs. Loves to play chase and wrestle. He will chase butterflies and leaves in the yard. He loves water and loves to play in the sprinklers when they come on. We are working on crate training and potty training; it is a work in progress! Wally is looking for a home willing to put in the work to show him how to be a good canine citizen.

MOLLIE IS LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME IN SOUTHERN CA

Mollie is a 3 year old Fluffy French Bulldog. Mollie is a gorgeous fawn color. She’s always happy and in a good mood. Mollie didn’t have the best care in her past. She came to us with double ear infections, a large cyst and an old injury in her eye that went untreated so she has no sight in that eye. Everything has been treated and she is on the mend now.

With all that, she is still the sweetest and happiest little girl. She absolutely loves people and wants to be near you as much as she can. She is great with other dogs, and would be fine for children. Mollie is very quiet, so she could even be an apartment or condo dog. There is nothing bad we can say about Mollie, she even enjoys the kiddie pool. Losing sight in one eye, does not hinder her at all. Mollie is ready to spend the rest of her days as a cherished family pet.

Brandy is a 5 year old, smooth red, mini Dachshund. She’s a small girl weighing 10 pounds. Brandy is very shy and timid in new situations. She needs a patient family that will show her there is nothing to be scared of. She is fine with other dogs, sorry no cats or kids. Brandy is still learning the ropes of her foster home, but she is adjusting well. Brandy is crate trained and she has learned the doggie door. Brandy is very treat motivated, so that has helped her with training. She has also decided she loves the hand that holds the treats, so that’s help with her fear of new people. Brandy is ready to start her new life as a cherished family member.

Joe is the sweetest 13 year old, black and tan, mini Dachshund. He is a small guy weighing 10 pounds. Joe has lost most his teeth, but that doesn’t slow him down. He loves his meals! Joe is happy happy happy! Joe LOVES everyone. He is great with other dogs. He does not do good with cats so no cats for him. Joe is quite active for his age. He missed the memo that he is a senior. Joe is crate trained and quickly learned the doggie door. Joe is a great travel companion, he just grabs his seat and enjoys the ride. Joe is looking for a loving home to live the rest of his years spoiled and loved.

Adoption includes his first vet exam, vaccines to date, dewormer and microchip. Adopter will be responsible for following their vaccine and deworming schedule with your vet. Adopter will be responsible for his neuter when he is of age, since he is much too young now. We recommend six months old. This is not included in the adoption fee unless you use the rescue vet. If you use the rescue vet in Hesperia to neuter, the $100 deposit will be used towards the cost and the rescue will cover the rest. Bucky, now known as Jimmy Dean, living his best life with mom Trish and Dad Greg. 😆💕

This was Bucky when we first got him. He was crying and shaking in pain and he could barely eat anything, so he went in for an immediate dental. He had such SEVERE dental disease, his jaw was broke from the infection eating through the bone. The video is him in miserable pain before the dental. He is much better now and time will help his jaw heal. Bucky recently found a forever home with a special family but his medical care took a big chunk of our funds. Please consider donating in honor of Bucky so we can have the ability to help the next dog like Bucky that needs us. We picked up this doxie that was found on highway 18 in Lucerne valley. He was crying in pain anytime he tried to eat, so he went in for an immediate dental yesterday. Just a reminder that we have these collectable plate sets we’ve decided to put in a drawing in order to help raise funds for our rescues vet expenses. There are 3 sets, one long haired doxie, one wirehaired doxie, and a black and tan smooth. There will be 3 winners selected. I will reach out to the winners as they are selected and see which set you prefer. There is a dinner plate, bowl, salad plate, and cup with saucer for each set. They are very cute and would look AMAZING on display. We’ve taken in a few dogs lately that have needed quite a bit medical care. Rather than just ask for donations, we like to hold these types of fundraisers because it allows our supporters an opportunity to win something fun in return. If you would like to be help our rescue and be entered to win one of these beautiful sets, all you have to do is donate at least $5 to our rescue. For every $5 you donate, you will get an entry in the drawing. As always, as a thank you for your support, if you donate $25, we will throw in an extra entry and you will get 6 entries instead of 5. We will do that for every $25 increment you donate. The fundraiser started, Thursday 10-12-23 and will end at midnight pacific time on Friday 10-27-23. Dachshund Paws and Pals Rescue

Dachshund Paws and Pals Rescue is based in Southern California. We are a registered 501(c)3 non -profit organization. The rescue founder, Tara, had a dachshund named Peewee when she was younger. He was her best friend and companion for many years. Peewee helped Tara through many of life’s difficult challenges. When Peewee gained his wings, Tara decided to start this rescue in his honor. Since then, over 1000 dogs have been saved and placed into loving forever homes in Peewee’s memory.

All of the dogs in our rescue are in loving foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Should a dog never get adopted due to behavior or long term health issues, they remain with us their entire life. We specialize in dachshunds but do recognize that all dogs need a helping hand. From time to time, we do take in other breeds as part of our pals program.

While the dogs are in foster care, we work on things such as house training, crate training, and walking on a leash. Foster homes also allow us the opportunity to learn things about the dog such as, if they are good with kids, cats, and other dogs. We share that info with potential adopters. Being able to utilize the foster homes to learn more about the dog, allows us to better match dog and forever home which in turn, increases the adoption success rate.

All of the dogs in our care are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro chipped prior to adoption. Any known medical issues are addressed prior to adoption as well. Some dogs require hundreds, even thousands of dollars in medical care before they are healthy enough for adoption. In this event, we NEVER raise adoption fees. Adoption fees remain the same regardless of how much a dog may cost us to rehabilitate. If a medical issue is life long, we may put the dog up for adoption, but will insure potential adopters are well aware of the special needs that dog may have for years to come.

Our rescue is made up of all volunteers. They volunteer their time and love in order to help these animals that cannot otherwise help themselves. From time to time we hold raffles, sell T-shirts, calendars, and other fundraisers to raise money for our rescue. One hundred percent of all money raised goes towards the dogs. The money goes to pull fees to get the dog out of the shelter, vet bills, food, toys, beds, flea and tick prevention, collars, ID tags, microchips, etc.

We are primarily Southern California only. However, we do make reasonable exceptions from time to time. As long as we have a volunteer available, Las Vegas and Northern California could be a possibility. Approved adopters will have a home check scheduled prior to adoption which is why the adoption would need to take place within reasonable driving distance. We never ship dogs and we never allow someone we do not know to conduct a home check. Our primary responsibility is to the safety and wellbeing of the dog, which is why we do not transport or ship cross country. As well as, if for any reason, an adopter finds themselves in a position they can no longer keep the dog, we require the dog comes back to us. The further away the dog is, the harder it is to get them back and we do not want them to end up back in a shelter because a family feels they have no other choice.

Rescue is not always easy but, we love what we do. Seeing a dog that looks so helpless, taking them in, caring for their needs, and watching them blossom, is one of the most rewarding things we will ever do. We have met some amazing people along the way and feel truly blessed to have crossed paths with each and every one of you. Thank you, for helping us. We are forever grateful to you.
