Most recent project on the farm is trying to deal with drainage issues in front of the barn. Dana trenched and installed boxes to catch the water. Cemented around the boxes and then connected to pipes to direct the water where we need it to go. Then stonedust on top paying attention to the grade of the land. Still a work in progress but we are slowly getting there.

Wow, just now looking at our page and while I knew it had been a while since posting, i had no idea it had been since 2017. Yikes!

We've had quite a bit of sadness at the farm since the last post which is probably why there hadn't been much to share.

To sum it all up, in 2017 Gillian's baby was stillborn. Quite devastating to all of us as she (it was a filly) would have been the first born on the farm.

Fall of 2017 through 2018 we had a barn full with 7 horses and 1 mini donkey. Needless to say, managing all of that in addition to both of us working full time jobs and 2 active kids kept us super busy.

On top of that, Renaissance decided to break his lower jaw bone early in 2018 so lots of extra care needed for that for a good 6+ months.

2019 brought more sadness as we had to have 2 horses put down, only a few months apart. One of them being my beloved gelding Beau. He was the first horse I ever brought and lived to the old age of 34.

Here's to 2020 being full of happier times. I'll post some pics separately of some of the recent things we've been working on.

Busy day on Bryley Farm today. Hired someone to pull our stallion, Renaissance de Roul, out of the path of Irma. Need to make room for him and his "friend" Raison in the barn. Unfortunately, we only have one stall for two stallions. Clean up and create day here.

It's so hard to be a barn cat at Bryley Farm.

It is with great sadness and tears streaming down my face that I wanted to let everyone know that Gillian had her baby early this morning, a filly, but it was unfortunately stillborn. As you can imagine, this has been an unimaginably hard morning and I would just like to ask for a little space as we work through this difficult time. Gilly is doing well but dealing with the loss also.

I know so many of you have been reaching out on a regular basis lately to check on Gilly and the baby so I felt I should share this news.

Good job protecting the barn from mice, Fiona.

Still no baby..... Waiting, waiting, waiting ....

29/03/2017

Mama Gillian. Only 3 more weeks to go until Bryley Farm has its first foal born on the farm. Very exciting!!

29/03/2017

Must be doing something right. Pretty good looking for 32 years old!

Bryley Farm has barn cats!! Meet Fiona and Cassidy 🐱

Today was the day we tackled hanging our massive front barn doors. Each door is 8 x 16 and weight a ton (not literally but you get the point). Hand made by Dana. For weeks we've been saying we had no idea how we'd get them hung. Today, Dana, Cindy and the Kubota got it done! 😄 Go Us! And no one died. 👍

The last major project we hope to pay for. After this, it's all on us. No idea when there tack room gets built, but the concrete pad is done!

01/11/2016

Its been a little while since we've posted but we've still been working away. Track up on front of barn and one of two massive front doors built. Once the second door is ready, we'll get them hung 😀🐴

29/08/2016

I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever get lights done...

10/07/2016

No photos because I didn't think about it, but waterline is done! Added two water hydrants so now we don't have hoses running all over the property.

We did have some help putting fence boards back up.

02/07/2016

Trenching has begun but as it seems to go for us, equipment broke 🙁. So its back to the rental place to swap equipment. Wouldn't be a big deal but rain is coming tomorrow so we have limited time to get this done. The fun never ends here 😃

02/07/2016

Trenching has begun as we work to run water lines to the last 2 fields that need water spigots. The equipment we rented has to be back by 5 pm Saturday night so lets hope we can get approx 600 ft trenched before then :)

01/07/2016

And that is a baby horse in Gillian's belly🐎😆. So excited!

12/06/2016

Finally finished the perimeter fence. Still need gates but those are easy.

27/03/2016

And then we hit the septic line...

27/03/2016

Today started out looking like it was going to be a very successful day. Rented equipment so we could blast through drilling lots of holes for a new field

23/01/2016

Updated photo of the back fields. Almost covering the second fence board.

16/12/2015

It's been a while since we've posted an update so here are a few pics. Electric has been run to the barn. Did the trenching ourselves and everything. Working on putting in some dry lots off the side of the barn now. Never a dull moment here...

03/11/2015

A few updated pics of the inside of the barn and the residents of Bryley Farm. Still plenty more work to do though 😊

08/09/2015

Three day weekend. We spent over 12 hours a day digging the trench. About 575 feet dug and we laid 400 feet of water pipe in the trench. We still need to connect the pipe to the water line and the hydrants, but pretty proud of our family for pulling together to get this far. Photos tomorrow.

06/09/2015

Day 2 of trenching begins

05/09/2015

Daddy's big helper!

05/09/2015

We've got three days, an excavator and 600 feet of trench to dig. This is what they meant by Labor Day weekend, right?
