Holiday Help for Stellar & Bashful

You already know and love our sweet boys, Stellar and Bashful - and we’re so happy to share this little video of them playing in their temporary foster home’s backyard. Their tails haven’t stopped wagging since yesterday - RESCUE DAY! Pupdate from their foster mom, they are sweet and shy. It will take them some time to decompress from being in the shelter.

Next up, they’ll be heading to our vets in Northern California for some much-needed dental work, vet check-ups, and to be neutered. The transport and vet bills will add up, and as a small Cocker rescue that sometimes opens our arms to non-cockers, we could use a little help from our wonderful village.

We wanted to provide an update about Hellie.

When Hellie was relinquished to us, we weren’t aware that another rescue was also involved in helping her. After completing her vet check and full bloodwork, we learned that another rescue has an existing adoption agreement with her former owner and will be taking Hellie back into their care.

Although we have already spent about $500 on her medical care, including the vet exam and full blood panel, we understand that some of our supporters may be disappointed that Hellie will not remain with us. We want to be completely transparent - if you donated toward Hellie’s care and would prefer a refund, we are happy to provide one. You may also choose to have your donation redirected to another dog in need. Please reach out to Elizabeth to let us know your preference.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Your generosity allows us to keep helping dogs in need and ensuring each one gets the best possible care and chance at a loving home.

Tuco, Stellar & Bashful are wagging their tails and settling in at their temporary foster homes tonight. We're still looking for longer-term foster or forever homes. Please share and help us network for them!

These three sweet boys were rescued from the East Valley Shelter today.

Tuco may have a hint of Spaniel, but Stellar and Bashful are simply gentle souls who needed a second chance. Our rescue focuses on Cocker Spaniels, yet compassion comes first whenever a dog is in need.

Tuco - Male, 3-6 yrs, 15 lbs, white Spaniel mix, neutered - He's with a temporary foster north of Los Angeles, CA

Stellar - Male, 7+ yrs, 19 lbs, golden color mix
Bashful - Male, 7+ yrs, 23 lbs, black & white mix

Freedom for Tuco, Stellar, and Bashful!

We’re overjoyed to share that these three sweet boys were rescued from the East Valley Shelter (California) this afternoon! As you can see in the video, pure happiness to finally be free.

Their intake notes said they were “declining,” but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They just needed out.

Tuco may have some Spaniel in him, but Stellar and Bashful are not Spaniels - just beautiful, gentle souls who needed a second chance. While our rescue focuses on Cocker Spaniels, when we see dogs in urgent need, we can’t always turn away. These three boys reminded us that compassion doesn’t stop at breed lines.

Meet Ellie, a 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel / Golden Retriever mix with a heart as golden as her fur. She’s sweet, gentle, and loves walks, cuddles, and cozy nights by your side.

Ellie is house and crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She just needs a calm, adult-only home where she can be the only pet and feel safe and loved.

Her family adores her but can’t keep her with small children, and she urgently needs a place to go.

Let’s find this beautiful girl a warm spot on the couch and love in her heart before the holidays.

URGENT: 3 Dogs Getting a Second Chance!

We’re pulling three sweet boys from the East Valley Shelter (Los Angeles) tomorrow. Two of them are on the euthanasia list simply because they’re declining in their kennels. Of course they are -who wouldn’t struggle in that environment?!

Meet our newest (almost) rescues:

Stellar
Male | Not neutered | 19.2 lbs
Golden Cocker Spaniel mix | 7+ years
Gentle soul who just needs some love and safety.

Bashful
Male | Not neutered | 23 lbs
Black & White Cocker Spaniel mix | 7+ years
Shy but so deserving of a soft bed and a kind heart.

Tuco
Male | Neutered | 15.4 lbs
White Cocker Spaniel (maybe mix) | 3–6 years
We haven’t met him yet, but we can’t wait to give him a new start!

While they might not be purebred cockers, they 100% deserve a happy life. That’s why we’re bringing them into Second Chance Cocker Rescue - and hoping their home-for-the-holidays forever families will see them and welcome them into their hearts and homes.

Meet Hellie - Senior, Blind & Deaf Cocker in Need of Medical Care and a Sanctuary home.

We need your help for this special girl!

Hellie is a sweet senior Cocker Spaniel, estimated to be 10 years old, who is blind and deaf. She was recently rescued from a situation where her previous caretaker realized they couldn’t provide the care she needed. This little girl is extremely underweight and needs urgent medical attention.

Hellie is currently being fostered in Laguna Beach, California, and will be going to the vet soon for a full evaluation and blood work to determine what medical care she needs. Even with her challenges, she’s perky, affectionate, and always up for a snuggle. She's also good with kids, dogs, and housetrained.

We urgently need donations to help cover her vet bills and care, and we hope to find a forever sanctuary home where she can live comfortably. We will continue to provide the medical care.

Every little bit helps this sweet girl get the care she deserves.
