“Hope was rescued from a mountain in Sarajevo last December as a young dog with a very badly broken front leg which was subsequently amputated.

She had been on the mountain for around five weeks before a lady called Edina rescued her. She came to live with us in March 2021. We think she’s incredible and gives us “hope” every day ❤️”

From a terrifying start to a loving home - Hope certainly lives up to her name and no doubt her story of how she found you inspires everyone she meets. Thanks for sharing Jo x

My Dear Mammy Rita passed away on 2-2-22.

Sincerest thanks to all of you for your kind wishes for me and my brother and sisters these past few days.

I loved my mammy beyond words. She believed in me when nobody else did and encouraged me late at night with my studies when I felt all alone.

I have felt all alone these past few days… but then I remembered that she and I had the most wonderful past Christmas day together. She couldn’t look upwards anymore, so I lay at her feet by her chair where she could see me. She knew she was passing soon. She held my hand and whispered that she would always be inside me. I would never be alone.

I asked her if she had ‘her bags packed ready to go’ and she told me… ‘Sure Noel, where I’m going nobody needs any baggage at all….. In fact, you’re better off without it.’ How right she is.

Mammy never needed ‘anything’ – because in her serenity and her faith, she already had ‘everything’.

Mammy was never one for ‘grand’ gestures and nor would she want a fuss now. It was ‘never about her’ – but rather about ‘what she could do for you’. She elevated everyone with her kindness, compassion, empathy and bright wit. Her humility in the face of her greatness is an example to all of us.

Mammy had absolute faith that she would be reunited with Daddy in heaven and she has been looking forward to ‘perpetual peace’ in her resting place beside him, where we ‘tucked her in for a good sleep’ on this past Friday.

As she said to me when she was tucking me in at night as a child – ‘Nite nite now… Tomorrow will be a lovely day’

And so, now I give thanks for all the love you gave to our world Mammy Rita. As we give you back to the eternal light, your bright light remains with all of us who were lucky enough to share the magnificence of your smile. May you rest in perpetual peace. Thank you for everything Mammy. I will love you forever. Nite nite now…Tomorrow will be a lovely day. Because of you. X

This is so sad 😢 I feel for him. Love for Kiera 🌈

It is with profound sadness I share the news that Keira, my beloved companion of nearly 14 years, has passed away.

My heart is truly broken. She was my best friend in the whole wide world.

My friend Amy and her son Kyle are broken-hearted too since they have shared her guardianship with me all this time.

We were so very blessed and lucky to have had her in our lives, lighting the way with her magnificent unconditional love.

We were especially lucky to have been gifted magical further time with her when she nearly lost her life too soon a year ago.

I am so thankful for your kind wishes and support at that difficult time and for the incredible love you have shown us.

I know that she touched many lives with her light. With great love comes great pain, but her love will be inside me forever.

She inspired everything I do for animals and her legacy will be eternal.

I will pay full tribute to my little girl once we have had some time to grieve.

Thank you my beautiful baby girl. I give you back to the starlight. You are forever by my side. I love you beyond what words can say.

On the 30th anniversary of the ineffective , we've joined forces with Battersea, Blue Cross, British Veterinary Association - BVA, RSPCA (England & Wales) and The Kennel Club UK to fight breed-specific legislation, which punishes dogs due to the way they look. BSL needs to be repealed and replaced with breed-neutral legislation.

Kiwi came to Battersea after his owners were unable to cope with the responsibility of caring for a puppy. At Battersea, he was able to receive the training and love he needed before finding a wonderful new home! 🥰

We urge owners to think carefully before getting a puppy, and if you do need to give one up then please take them to a rescue centre rather than abandoning them or selling them online. 💙

Thank you very much to everyone who has asked after Keira. It’s deeply appreciated.

She’s slower and more cautious now, as you would expect from what she’s been through in the past few months.

She bears some scars of her trauma but her tail still wags with excitement when I come back into the office after every surgery – and she finds the opportunity for love and cuddles everywhere –

‘Even when Daddy is busy doing paperwork at his desk, I can sit up on his knee and look out the window at the wonder of the day ahead.’

No matter what life has thrown at her, she gets up and greets each day with an smile of ‘bring it on!’

Every moment is an opportunity for joy in her world and she’s living her best life.

My Little girl gulps down every drop of rain or of sunshine - whatever the weather – and whatever ups and downs life may bring

She’s a wonderful teacher for me every day of my life and I love her beyond words.

Thought everyone would like to see this update from Professor Noel Fitzpatricks page. Lovely to see and I’m sure we all wish little Keira well ❤️

Thank you to everyone who has shared your kind thoughts and wishes for Keira while she remains in recovery after her accident.

Medication and physiotherapy is ongoing whilst water and food are being given to her by a tube in her neck. But she has been able to sleep in my room at the practice at nights, so that’s wonderful for her and for me.

She is by no means out of the woods yet, but my brave and magnificent little girl continues to astonish me with her resilience at 13 years young.

The love and concern you have all shown for her has been remarkable and I feel truly blessed – thank you – I can’t express properly in words how profoundly grateful I am to everyone across the globe who has asked after her and sent words of kindness, comfort and hope.
