Lalo First Swim session
Teaching Lalo the #greatpyreneeslabmix how to swim so he can build some strength to better move around on his 3 legs. This session was about 25 min long with the first 10 min just focusing on him getting in the pool on to the shelf and then back out. I was told that Lalo was not a fan of water so it was a big accomplishment for him just to get his feet wet willingly. Then we did a lap or 2 at a time and I let him exit onto the shelf for a break and then we'd do another round and rest and so forth. I edited the video down for timesake so you don't see as much of him getting to rest in between rounds. By the end, of the session, Lalo was getting the hang of paddling versus hopping in the water like he does on ground and was even figuring out how to turn smoothly. Very proud of this boy 😊
Sully at Bass Pro
Sully the #terriermix took a trip to Bass Pro to work on her skills with some distractions and then we stopped off for lunch on the patio at Torchy's Taco.
Rally style heelwork with Sully
Sully the #terriermix has been fine tuning her on leash heelwork this week using some Rally Obedience skills. May be hard to tell in this video but we had some loud thunder and loud vehicles as distractions while we worked (all of which is tough for little Sully).
**Disclaimer: I do go a bit off script at times and may not perform all the signs shown in the video as I would for competition as I'm just using these skills as a guideline to increase her ability to respond as asked in a variety of heeling scenarios as we work on prepping for other advanced skills for the future.

Doing some on leash review with Sully the #terriermix and starting to work on downs in motion while heeling. As she gets quicker, we will start doing faster motion and eventually practice emergency stops while recalling or running away from me. I also practice recalling her from the down or I return to her and release her. She did really well for her session of this, especially with it being a thousand degrees outside. Sorry for the hard to see camera work...it's like trying to film a black guinea pig in the shade, and being able to see what's happening, lol.

Awesome Rally Novice title
My puppy Awesome got her Rally Novice title! Here is her first run ever in the ring with a first place and 96. Her other runs were 88 and another 96. She was 6 months and 12 days old for her title run.
After taking a summer break this past month to focus on competing with my dogs, I'll have some client dogs starting their board and trains very soon!
Stewart the #doberman is loving this cooler summer day we are having. Great time to get out to run in the field and work on some recalls!

It took a couple weeks to teach Sully the #terriermix how to ring the bell but she finally figured it out. She has also learned how to hang out around the cats and be able to recall off of them during a chase. Hopefully some of her kitties at home will like to play with her as she really wants a friend.

Sully the #terriermix working on her heeling and stay skills in public at Academy and Petsmart. Learning to walk nicely on leash was a necessity as she was a major trip hazard darting in front of me when we first started, which could cause both of us to get injured. Now that she knows more, she gets to go do more fun stuff!

Sully the #terriermix got to practice her heeling at Petco where there were lots of dogs, including an unruly German Shepherd Dog who kept barking at her. She was a good girl though and even though there were so many cool things to sniff, she was able to listen and work for some yummy cheese.

Here are some of the Rally runs we did over the weekend. I tried to choose some of the most interesting courses to show. Triple and Sequel are pretty serious when they compete whereas Savvy is a happy tail wagging fool most of the time which is cute but it stresses me out more as it is a 10 point penalty if you knock over a sign or cone!

Lots of Awesome learning at just 10 wks old with my new Doberman puppy. This was a 15 min session I edited down and her focus is fantastic. She always wants to work longer than I will let her. She's already learning some Rally moves as we hope to get her in the ring this summer when she is legal age to compete.

Deezle the #doberman has had some extra time with us while his owner is traveling so we took advantage to work on challenging his skillset with some off leash work and recalls to both front and heel positions. For his young age, he has done remarkably well with all the new skills he has learned and with more practice and time, his precision level should increase on his position changes. He's really come a long way since we first started.

Training isn't just about learning how to sit or stay. Conquering something scary and building confidence is a critical skill. Agility and obstacle training can help with coordination, focus, and confidence and it's fun for most dogs. Deezle the #doberman was a bit unsure the first time he tried this new obstacle so we took it slow. But after he succeeded he was ready for more and much quicker on the 2nd attempt.
