Did you know that section 3 of the DDA can apply to ANY dog dangerously out of control in a public area (your car is regarded as a public space). BUT this doesn't apply to incidents involving other animals, only people or assistance dogs!

So if a small dog attacks your dogs and your dog bites back, the police can't prosecute you or destroy your dog under sec 3 of DDA.
If you have a banned breed, under section 1 of the DDA, things get a little bit more complicated and you will to still prove your dog is not a danger to the public.
A lot of police and even solicitors are not experts in this legislation. Have a read of this from a barrister who has had cases acquitted and we hope it helps you.

It’s sleepover Saturday here today! The blankets and pillows are out, Halloween movies all day, and snacks til we fall sleep 🍿

XL Bully’s are wonderful companions, and great family dogs with a kind and gentle nature around children - like ANY dog that’s trained and living in a appropriate setting 🐾

Meet Boss and his mommy 🐾

Chelsea asked his groomers Bether’s Dog Spa their feelings about Boss and the proposed ban, and this is what they had to say:

“Boss comes in for his groom and is the sweetest boy.
Jumps straight into the bath, only time I ever hear him make a noise of some sort is because he cries to lick me 😂, he jumps straight on the grooming table (most dogs need to be picked up!)
The whole time he's on the table he's happy and excited because he can hear my dog Frank.
After his grooms I happily let him play with my dog, and I am confident to let him play with my excitable crazy border collie, Other dogs I won't feel as confident to do so.
They play so nicely together, chase each other around the garden, lick each other run around etc.

I believe we shouldn't have the xls banned because, they didn't do nothing wrong to deserve all the hate and threats.
Ban the owners that don't bring their dog up to be a nice dog!
At the end of the day, these are peoples babies and it's not fair.
Anyone can make a dog Vicious if they don't bring it up correctly, if you don't know anything about how to raise a dog, DONT GET ONE!. any dog can turn/ be unpredictable but why is that the only view on xl bullys?
I've had more cockapoos and chihuahuas bite me than any sort of bully breed, I love all dogs and this xl bully situation is disgusting and not fair on owners and the dogs.”

Little Luna loves nothing more than sofa snuggles or playing with her cuddly toys. 🥺

The six-month-old puppy is a gentle, affectionate soul and although she has a wonderful temperament, she potentially has a matter of weeks, if not days, to live unless we find her a loving home. 💔

This is because her looks resemble an American bully XL – soon to be added to a list of banned dogs. While the implications of this law are still uncertain, we do know that owners of dogs deemed to be of this type will need to apply for their pet to go on a register of exemption.

But the situation is far bleaker for homeless XL bully dogs. It will soon become illegal to rehome them, even if assessments find they are good natured and no danger. Devastatingly, the only option will be euthanasia.

However, there is still a glimmer of hope if Luna can be adopted before the law changes. 🤞 But it’s a race against time to find her a home.

“Gus came to me as a lifeline. Back in February, I was saved and given a second chance from an attempted su***de. My wonderful housemate agreed that getting a dog would be beneficial for my mental and physical health.
He's my reason. My reason to wake up in the morning, my reason to go on a stupid walk for my stupid mental health, he motivates me to stay focused on achieving our training goals as we work towards him being a service dog to mitigate my multiple conditions and disability, he reminds me to take my medications to remain healthy so we can continue to spend our days together however we please, exploring the world one step at a time together
Gus is under threat by the XL Bully ban in the UK at the moment. The effects of this are obviously devastating. If Gus has to wear or muzzle (or is seized) he will not be able to carry out his medical alert tasks.
Gus is my soul dog returned to me as a Boerboel xXL Bully. He is kind and loving, gentle and snuggly. He is mischievous and playful, smart and eager to please.
I've never met an animal like him and I'm forever grateful he came to me.
Gus has saved my life everyday since he came home and I don't want to think about what could happen if he is taken from me.
Gus and I are fighters, and we won't stand down! We will keep fighting, keep advocating and telling the world about the beautiful, pure and innocent Bully Breed.”

Meet JJ and Cerberus 🐾

“So this is my son JJ. He is autistic and non verbal. My boy Cerberus is his best and one of his only friends.

We have to fight for everything for him. From additional support to speech and language therapy telling us they can't help us anymore despite him still not talking to SEN Placements.

He struggles to make friends due to his disability. And my dog is someone he can play with who is gentle and kind to him. He also loves the sensory texture of his fur. They often lie and cuddle each other.

This proposed legislation is telling me that that dog is aggressive. That that dog is another thing I need to fight for on top of the support I need to fight for daily for my son.”
