The she-wolf has this habit of wrapping herself around the neck of her wolf because the neck is the most vulnerable part of the animal.

By doing so, she shows him her unconditional love.

For ethologists: Wolves are the most loyal and loving animals: they have only one partner throughout their life. The wolf is known to have an almost extraordinary tenderness and affection towards his she-wolf...which she knows perfectly well to return.

A plan to relocate thousands of burros that live in the San Jacinto Mountains to Texas is coming under fire - as local residents say the beloved animals are a part of their community's culture. 🙁 https://abc7.la/401QhP8

Did you know that in Vermont, hunters can hunt bobcats on your property at night without your permission—using hounds, thermal scopes, and high-tech game-calling devices?

Hunters bait hungry bobcats, luring them into close range, and then hunt them in the dark using thermal rifle scopes. This isn't hunting—it's thrill killing.

Vermont Fish & Wildlife allows this dangerous, environmentally harmful practice, even though it's not supported by sound ecological science.

The good news is, you have the power to take action. It’s not too late to post your land and prevent bobcat and other furbearer hunters from hunting on your property. Email us to learn more at [email protected].

International Wolf Center

Sage first came to Diane Boyd's cabin in Glacier National Park in November 1983. After four years of studying the phantom wolves in the Flathead River region, Diane heard the howl and opened her door to find Sage on the opposite river bank.

During those years, Diane tracked the Magic Pack, named such because of their ability to evade detection. The pack continued to stay away from the research team until Sage became curious and appeared at the cabin.

Over the next month, Sage would visit Diane and her dogs. Sage seemed curious about the dogs, even attempting to interact at one point. Months later, Dick Thiel set traps to capture and collar wolves. Another team member, Mike, radioed in about a two-year-old male wolf, Sage.

Over the years, the team was able to track Sage's collar. One year, Diane and the team found a trap with evidence of Sage having been caught and subsequently escaped the trap.

Following the tracks of a struggling wolf, Diane and the team found Sage alive. They began to pull out the medical equipment to care for the wolf, eventually waiting for Sage to awaken and walk away. Finally, around 4:00 a.m., Diane poked Sage, who jumped up, looked around, and limped off.

Using the tools available, Sage became part of Diane's story as much as Diane became part of Sage's journey.

There is not one good reason to trap and kill bobcats.

As a vital predator species that are beloved by so many Vermonters, they should be protected, not killed for "sport."

Research shows dogs' faces evolved to enable them to communicate with humans:

Dogs differ from wolves in several notable ways, and research shows that these differences often correlate with human ways of communicating and relating to one another..

For example, dogs have a prominent muscle in their face called the levator anguli oculi medialis, which is almost completely absent in wolves. This muscle allows dogs to raise their inner eyebrows, which makes their faces more easily readable by humans.

Dogs also have big, rounded eyes, which are considered an infantile feature that triggers the "cute response," encouraging people to care and provide for the animal — similar to how babies work.
