Greetings everyone!

Your NOVA Executive is excited to bring you NOVA 2024!

We are very happy to have Laurentian Lodge (just north of Elliot Lake), host us once again this year. Those who attended last September can attest to a gorgeous northern setting and beautiful venue.

Please come join us this September 5th to 8th, 2024.

Our speaker this year is … Dr. Seanna Swayne, DVM, Dipl. ACVS-SA, she is returning to NOVA for a second time, and along with our own Dr. Olivia Stone will be enjoying her 20 year OVC reunion with us-congrats Seanna and Olivia!

Stay tuned for Seanna’s lecture topics, small animal surgery enthusiasts will be rewarded!

FORE! That’s right, the coveted race for the Brown Jacket returned in 2023 and we will continue the tradition at the gorgeous Stone Ridge Golf Course.

The Sudbury Youth Wellness Hub is excited to announce we surpassed our goal and raised over $4400 during the Feed Youth in February Campaign! 👏

A big thank you to everyone who donated! Your generosity and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of so many young people in our community are deeply appreciated!

Fun was had by all at the Ernie Heikkila Memorial Curling Bonspiel this weekend! Congrats to the Eh’ Team who nabbed first place. Over $600 was raised for the YMCA Youth Hub!!!! Thank you curlers, we can’t wait for next year!!

Almost recovered from an amazing Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) Conference. Thank you to everyone who came out to the NOVA hospitality sweet and special thank you for Dr. Matthew Richardson for hosting us in the OVMA President's suite!

FORE! That’s right, the coveted race for the Brown Jacket is back. Cost is $55 on top of registration.

We will be having a couple special meetings this year. Dean Jeffery Wichtel of OVC for a brief presentation and Q&A session about the upcoming Thunder Bay expansion. Good news for the North!

A round table discussion will be held as part of a CVO discussion regarding after hours care in the North all are welcome to attend and help brainstorm this crucial concern.

Finally, please find attached a letter from our dear friend and college Dale Scott. He will be fundraising for NOVA by cycling to the conferences this year! Those we wish to are invited to join him on Thursday September 21 in Elliot Lake to complete the last 30km.

Hello Everyone! I hope you had a great Monday!

I want to thank everyone who participated in the Bonspiel this weekend, and I hope everyone had a great time! It was so nice to see everyone again and have our first full year of events under our belt in our post pandemic world. I am pleased to say that this year we raised $285 which we have donated to the Veterinarians without Borders efforts in Ukraine.

I also want to thank our speaker Dr. Graeme Doodnaught for coming out and delivering a fantastic talk!

Our next event will be the 2023 NOVA Conference September 21st - 24th, 2023 being held at Laurentian Lodge in Elliot Lake!

Exciting news!!!
The University of Guelph and Lakehead University are proposing to expand
veterinary education in Ontario through a new Collaborative Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine (DVM) in Rural and Northern Community Practice Program (‘DVM North’).

A Q&A session regarding the project at Lakehead University on March 23rd, 2023 at 7:00pm. The session is also going to be available by Zoom.
