Second update: we are happy to report that our handsome boy has gone home with his dad. It turns out the person who originally was thought to be the owner and who was not returning our calls was the dog sitter. As soon as the true owner got home they came to get him and he was sooooo happy to see his person!!! ❤️

Update: we have been able to track down guardian information and it appears they are not interested in claiming him. We are getting to know him and he will be up for adoption soon. More info at lapsbc.ca

Please Share!! It is that kind of day at LAPS where lots of animals need help. This stray Akita came in just today but he is incredibly stressed and we are worried about him being comfortable in the kennels. Please help us find his owner by sharing. He is an intact male, no ID and found at 209st/57a

Financial support is available for northern Canadian residents for veterinary and animal care courses and the deadline to apply is approaching quickly!

We providing:
- One $10,000 scholarship for a northern veterinary student, with priority given to Indigenous candidates
- Five $5,000 bursaries to put towards animal- or one-health related diplomas or certificates
- Ten online pet first aid training with an accompanying first aid kits available for applicants living in current Veterinarians Without Borders partnership communities

Throwback Case 🩺 From Dawn Buskey Brown: "We took these out of a 90lb dog's stomach, the only reason the owner brought him in is because she saw him swallow a ball. Took x-rays and there was 6 of them, not sick absolutely no symptoms.

“How the Kong ball was invented.

The Kong toy was invented by accident more than 40 years ago when Joe Markham needed a way to prevent his German Shepherd Fritz from biting on rocks and sticks. Fritz, who Markham adopted as a shelter dog, had worn down his teeth to one-third of the size they should have been.

He was working on his vehicle and tossed an axle stop with an attached bracket on the ground. His dog got hold of it and loved it. He was playing with it joyously, much to Markham’s amusement.

He said to his friend, “What do you think of my new dog toy?”

His friend replied, “Actually, it’s not too pretty. It looks like an earplug from King Kong.”

And the Kong toy was born.”
