Sterilisation & vaccination of reduces rabies - Delhi had 37 rabies deaths in FIVE years. While even one death is not acceptable, please see this against Delhi population of 32,941,000. Rabies infected 0.00002276797% of population in a year.

Compare Delhi's annual rabies deaths which are averaged at 7 amongst a population of 3.2 crore people, with that of India's average (WHO estimates) which is 3 in 1,00,000 population a year. That means 300+ people in Delhi would have died of rabies WITHOUT Animal Birth Control Rules.

USA estimates annual rabies related deaths of 1-3 per year. The population of entire country of USA is approx 33 crore.

We can safely say that if sterilisations & vaccinations of dogs continue, Delhi is moving towards USA average of rabies deaths, and eventually 0 rabies deaths.

In December 2022, we floated a survey amongst Gurgaon households and aimed to get 200 responses atleast. We received 196 complete responses and some interesting data points - including the fact that dog loving people alone have managed to sterilise thousands of street dogs from across Gurgaon! And that while only 17 respondents were currently animal rights activists, now 135 respondents would like to become more involved in animal rights protection!

Cheers to you all wonderful people who are part of a solution and working tirelessly to reduce street dog population in a humane manner, while working to make this world a more humane place.

Today more than 200 street dogs have been vaccinated against rabies in parts of Gurgaon where we feed. We aim to try and conduct anti rabies drives monthly in all parts of Gurgaon. This would help keep our communities disease free for both dogs and humans.

In addition to running our shelter and rescue service in Bhondsi, Gurgaon, we support a small shelter and rescue in Almora, Uttarakhand. This is Bhomik Pashu Sewa Samiti and is managed by a local activist Kamini Kashyap ji. In addition to rescuing and homing street animals, Kamini ji also saves animals from slaughter by going after illegal smuggling of animals, stopping sacrifice slaughter of animals in temples (a practice in decline thanks to local activism), fighting cruelty cases and also working closely with police.
Here are some pictures taken today sent by Bhomik.
We wanted to thank all our supporters and mention that when you support us, you support multiple animals across locations.

New Delhi: July 15, 2022. We sponsor feeding of some dogs in Ajmeri Gate Premium Parking of New Delhi railway station. The feeder who goes there informed us of some pups covered in tar. We got in touch with Delhi based Karan Puri Foundation who sent their ambulance and the three pups have been picked up and taken to the vet. The mother dog also has tar but was aggressive and did not get caught in the morning. The ambulance will be going again today evening for the mother. Meanwhile, we seek your support to help us in this and other emergency medical cases we come across on a daily basis. Every paisa counts as we need funds to pay our medical bills. Donate to:

Today's video from the shelter. We have about 52 dogs in our shelter. Most of them are former pets. A few are accident cases who are handicapped or unable to go back to their original location. Do visit our dogs whenever you can as they crave human contact. Also, bring them some dog food or some nutritious meal to help improve their nutrient intake.

Some good children of have been spending their at our shelter for past few weeks and have done a tremendous job of improving it and making it more cheerful. Not just with their presence, but also with their efforts and their art.
This was much needed as our shelter was completely destroyed by a storm on May 23.
Thank you lovely children. Thank you

We have always tried to do the right thing at our shelter and so even when there is no one coming to check in our back and beyond, we decided to have a sewage pit dug which had a drain flowing into it. This pit used to capture all the sewage and water waste and stop it from leaching into the soil (save the soil 😁) and once in fifteen days the sewage truck would be called to empty out the pit. But on May 23, the drains overflowed and somehow the pit, which was 10 feet deep filled out and then broke. That resulted in sewage water flowing back into the grounds and leaching into the soil. So repairing this was crucial and critical. Happy to report that the new pit is more than 15 feet deep. Digging is complete and now cement etc is being put in place. Drains are being improved too. Thank you to all of you who donated and keep donating us. Our repair work is slow as we wanted to make sure to be most frugal as we have only managed to raise 1/4th of what is needed. However, we are slowly moving forward on it. Here is a video from two days ago.

On May 23, 2022, Gurgaon experienced a morning storm which destroyed our animal shelter which houses 52 dogs and 7 staff members. Both dog rooms and staff rooms have been damaged beyond repair amongst other damages across the shelter.
Thankfully our very alert team ensured that all the dogs were moved to a safe area and so no dog or human was hurt.

We need to immediately conduct repair work. The estimated cost is about Rs. 2 lakhs. Please help us do this. Our poor staff and some of the shelter dogs have no roof until the repair is done. Our kitchen is used to cook for almost 1500-1600 street dogs daily and needs to be repaired urgently. Our boys who do the feeding and caring do not have any place to stay until we repair.
Please help us and donate. Please donate via the Milaap link in our bio.

Happy to share that our most critical case currently is a senior dog who had met with a bad accident and was lying in the roadside for some days before she got medical care thanks to a very kind lady.
This dog had come to us from our partner-vet as she is now permanently disabled and would need permanent care. At the end of the video is an image of the condition the dog was in when she came to us. We are happy to report that the dog is eating and drinking water. We make sure to give her paneer one time and good quality dog food one time along with timely water. Her mattress is changed every morning. She has some wounds where medication is applied daily. Please send her your good wishes. Also pl donate to us so we can continue to help dogs who need care.
You can donate via the link in our bio. Or can send via UPI to 9717488333@PayTM
You can also send us dog food, rice, medicines, supplements and other things in kind if that is more suitable to you. DM for details.

Please consider donating in funds or kind. Our daily rice consumption is 125 kg x 24 rs. per kg = Rs. 3000 which amounts to approx Rs. 90,000 per month. Our daily auto costs = 1400 + 1200 + 1200 + 500 = Rs. 4300 per day which amounts to Rs. 133,000 per month. Our daily chicken waste cost = 60 rs. * 50 kg = Rs. 3000 per day which amounts to Rs. 90,000 per month. Our monthly salaries costs @12000 per month per boy = 9 staff members * 12000 = Rs. 1,08,000 per month. Firewood cost has risen to Rs. 30,000 per month approx. Food for staff + Supplements for dogs + tick treatment + other similar costs are another Rs. 50,000 per month. Rent + electricity + water = Rs. 20,000 per month. These are fixed costs that we have to pay amounting to Rs. 5.25 Lakhs per month. Our payments for feeding give us about Rs. 2.5 lakhs per month at best. We manage to get another Rs. 30,000 per month in donation. So our shortage EVERY MONTH now is Rs. 250,000 per month. None of us are in such high salaries that we can afford this on our own. We need help for our 52 animals in the shelter and 1000+ dogs we feed at our costs daily (some 600 more are sponsored).

Tick season has started at the shelter earlier than usual. Today complete disinfection is being done of entire shelter with neem based anti-tick treatment. This will be followed by Fipronol spot on application of all dogs. Today we have managed to source 12 spot ons only. So today only 12 dogs will get the treatment. Over the 2-3 days the remaining dogs will also get spot on treatment. This treatment is effective for 45 days in pet dogs to keep them tick free. In shelter settings it is effective for only 20 days but that is also a relief. Each spot on costs upwards of 200 per vial (to be used on one dog). If anyone wants to donate these, you can buy on Amazon and courier. We will need them every month now.

Update from today, April 16. Today was vet's visit to the shelter. The team has checked each and every dog for skin issues, fever and any other issues. Vitamin deficiency related issues are seen in some dogs. This is an issue with a shelter as in a shelter environment the dogs can lack nutrients which they could get better in a home or even on the street as the variety of food items is wider there. So to make up for it, we provide one meal as dog food + also try and get more frequent check ups and supplement through syrups and tonics. Some of the dogs will need repeat meds so oral meds have been left behind + injections will be repeated in a few days.

Yesterday, March 1, was a sad day cause we have lost three dogs in our feeding route. We want to share about them so that their soul can get your prayers too and because their lives were important to us. One of the dogs we lost yday was Buddha Kalu. He was a 8+ year old German Shepherd mix that had been abandoned by someone in Marble market, Sector 33-34, Gurgaon. We had started feeding him starting first lockdown as one of our team members who went for a round that side realised that with entire Marble market shut, the food source of the dogs had closed. We continued to feed Budha Kalu and others post lockdowns also as the Marble market is still not fully open. Budha Kalu was the gentlest of dogs. For the past 7-8 months, a separate team of ours used to go especially to check on him daily. He also had developed a recurring wound at his backside and that needed medication off and on. Yesterday when our feeders reached there, they were informed that Budha Kalu had been run over and died. He has been buried by the local people.

We also lost another sweetest and mildest dog yesterday. He was called as VMC dog by our team. He had been survivor of an accident in the past and had a bad leg. He also had recurring skin issue. But he was a happy dog and lived in a small office complex and was generally liked. However, before Holi, he met with an accident which cut off his leg real bad. The owner of a nearby gym admitted him at CGS. We were informed yday that he did not make it. I feel especially sorry for this case cause I wonder if the guy who ran him over used his brains and was not drunk, he would not have ran VMC over as that is a very small complex and very low possibility of accidents..

Another elderly dog from Iffco chowk has died yesterday. This was due to aging related issues. Again another gentle dog, who lived on the streets. Thankfully, he was never sorry for his life, was provided water and food daily and also met humans who loved him daily.

May the Universe help these fine souls in their journey forward. May we find their friendship in all lifetimes, across all time and space. 🙏😓💔
