As kidding season nears.. we clean out the ENTIRE barn!! And now we wait for babies next month❤️

I often get people saying on how amazing my life must be to have all these animals. That it must be nice to come home and spend time with all of them. How jealous they are that I am living their dream life.

My usual response is yeah it’s pretty awesome but.. it’s just.. it’s a lot. What do you mean it’s a lot?
Well I mean it’s a lot.. a lot of work, a lot of time, a lot of money, a lot physically and emotionally.

People only see the pictures I post on social media platforms. Which is generally the perfect cute and funny snap shot for likes and hearts. But What y’all don’t see is what is behind the scenes.

You don’t see the time put into our full time job before coming home and starting the second job.

You don’t see the hours spent out in the barn cleaning stalls. Setting stalls for the night.

You don’t see the time spent loading and unloading hay, sawdust, grain bags.

You don’t see the hard work put into building pastures, putting up fencing and shelters.

You don’t see the work put into maintaining and growing pastures.

You don’t see the time spent in caring for these animals in extreme heat & cold.

You don’t see the time spent grooming and maintaining general care.

You don’t see the time spent worrying about them, making sure they are happy and healthy.

You don’t see the time spent sitting with a sick goat or kid for hrs wondering if he/she is going to pull through.

You don’t see the feed bills, the vet bills.

You don’t see all the hard work sometimes ending is tragic heartbreak and tears.

You don’t see the time lost with family and friends. (Not including the family disagreements that comes along with farming.)

The list could go on and on....this is only scratching the surface.

Most people will never see or understand the behind the scenes of owning livestock. It’s not all glamour shots and cute fluffy animals. It’s work and a lot of it. I hope to share some small insight on what goes into it.

But would I change it? Would I give it all up? Hell no. This is the lifestyle I CHOOSE to live. Would I have more free time? Yes. Would I have more money? Yes. Would I have less stress? Hell Yes!!! But.. would I be HAPPY? The answer to that is NO. These animals give me life, happiness, and strength. They are a huge part of who I am.

I am fortunate enough to have an INCREDIBLE support system and family who enjoy this life as much as I do. It’s not a one person job. It’s a family effort. For that im thankful. For them I am thankful! ❤️

Willow and Stella are the two I’m most excited about! Only because they have a lot of udder potential.

They both have the same sire: Eagle Meadows Eternal *B, SD is: SGCH Sans Gene K Cookies And Cream, SS is: Castle Rock Sastrugi. For now 1 or all doelings will be retained depending on color🧡💜

❌ That red light is a heat lamp but not for the goats it’s for the chicks in a cage on the wall❌ my parents were in charge of the goats since I stayed with my aunt.. I walk into the barn to this beautiful girl the sister to a doeling I already have!! I’m super excited but she needs some works just like Molli as she is super skittish❤️

💛Just a goat💛 from time to time people tell me, lighten up, “it’s just goat.” Or that’s a lot money for “just a goat.” They don’t know the distance traveled, the time spent or the cost involved for “just a goat.” Some of my proudest moments have come with “just a goat.” Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a goat.” But I did not once feel lonely. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a goat,” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a goat” gave me comfort and a reason to overcome the day. If you too, think it’s “just a goat” then you will probably understand phrases like “just a friend”, “just a sunrise”, or “just a promise”, “just a goat” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. “Just a goat” brings out the company, patience that makes me a better person. Because of “just a goat” I will rise early, stay in the barn for hours and look longingly into the future. So for me it’s not “just a goat” but a embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past and the pure enjoyment of the moment “just a goat” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day! I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a goat” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human”. So the next time I hear the phrase “ it’s just a goat” I’ll just smile… because they just won’t understand❤️

When I see my goats all together running across the yard I see a big future! I see a big future potentially being in the big dairy industry one day. I’m a young girl with huge dreams, of being being successful with my goats! I have learned so much in the years of owning goats it’s crazy. For me to know I’m gonna have 4 does kidding in a few months is super exciting to me not only for the kids and to see the does udders but because this has been a dream of mine. I started out with only having wether goats with no idea my life would look like this! Nobody understands how much you can love a animal until they own them themselves❤️
