With the temperature close to 40 degrees C (a yestreday afternoon photo), water is our absolute ally. It helps to cool the cement as well as the places where the dogs prefer to rest, so that the hot night will flow more pleasantly. Many of the dogs choose to play with the water in the buckets to cool off and need to be refilled again and again until we leave, to be sure that the dogs will have enought water until the morning

June is Debbie's month.
Since 2011 Deb is visiting Trikala shelter. Not even covid stopped her from visiting the dogs, but this year, for the first time due to obligations she was forced to postpone her trip.
And she may not have come, but once again her priority was Trikala dogs. With her donation, the annual vaccination of the dogs inside and outside the shelter was carried out, as well as for the purchase of bravecto pills. Thank you, so much dear friend.
We miss you a lot and can’t wait to see you in a few months.

SIBA at the vet
With acute pain in the mouth, a visit to the vet was necessary. Retrobulbar abscess is what caused the pain and the swelling under his left eye. He was hospitalized for 1 day and returned to the shelter.
He is on medication with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for 10 days as well as warm compresses on the head.
Simba turns 11 years old this year and Trikala shelter has been his home since he was a puppy as he was not lucky enough to be adopted.
Please for your help. With the debt for the medical care of our dogs exceeding 3000 €, it is impossible to continue providing them with the necessary anymore.

We must provide food and medical care for 48 shelter dogs each day. Victims of abandonment or abuse are aged 10 to 15 years. Trikala shelter has been their home since the beginning of their lives. We rely solely on your donations.

It's quite hot for the season, with all the dogs looking for shade to get through the day. They certainly can't stand it like they did in their youth.

Here he is, relaxed and handsome. He had to undergo major surgery to remove masses from his stomach and leg last December. We haven't been able to pay back the cost of surgery yet.

after the stroke with appropriate medication she reverted to the good old Carmen. The only thing left to remind us of the recent health adventure is a slight bend of the neck. Carmen adapted perfectly and that does not pose any problems on her daily life.

Trikala Shelter warmly wants to thank B Class students B1, B2 and B3 Sections of the 2nd Trikala High Scholl, as well as their teacher, the Head of the Second Grade Skills Workshop, under whose guidance they decided and from their pocket money, collected the amount of 58€ and allocated it to help a stray of Trikala Shelter. Continue like this, on the path of empathy beautiful creatures, and we wish others to follow your example

4 years ago today …

4 years ago today … We were notified… Of the Veterinary Directorate’s decision that Trikala Shelter Dogs, which at that time housed 127 dogs, would be closed and all the dogs should be put out onto the streets… Our plea for help rallied 23,175 supporters and animal lovers from all over the world. They dynamically declared their presence by signing our petition and left wonderful words of support for us. With this petition we achieved what we had hoped and prayed for… To be allowed to keep the dogs safe in the only place they have known since puppies, with the condition we could not take in any new animals, until their adoption or natural death. Today at Trikala Shelter Dogs we have 84 dogs, ranging from 9 to 14 years old. All under the care of just 2 volunteers of Trikala Animal Welfare Association “O Argos” and your financial and emotional support.
