Guess how many treats were LEFT in the jar after I got to groom this cutie this morning.
There’s a lot of positive reinforcement, AKA “bribery,” behind a puppy’s first full groom. Not to mention those puppy eyes 😍

You got offended that people decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving... Jokes on you because I am already celebrating New Years over here.
We have to get more than ONE day out of a cute bandana like this!

What a fun transfurmation!
For this #smallbuisnesssaturday we wanted to share more about our family:
I have almost a decade of experience in the animal care industry and started as a certified veterinary assistant working at private practices.
While living abroad in Italy, our family’s love of animals morphed into a lifestyle and ultimately a career path. Sicily has over 750,000 stray dogs and I quickly answered my calling by joining a local nonprofit animal welfare organization.
You may often see co-owner, Justin, at the door or behind the tub. Justin jokes that I live by the saying, “Dogs welcome, people tolerated.” He has supported my passion since we married in 2013, adding a dog to our family at each duty station.
In 2016 we opened our first home based grooming salon. Home based salons offer a less stressful grooming experience by allowing for one on one appointments, a cage free environment, and less time at the groomer.
In 2019 we moved to South Carolina and joined the amazing Park Circle Community. I continued my nonprofit work and became the Executive Director for local animal shelter, Dorchester Paws. However, grooming offered me a creative release and allowed me to see the animals of our community in happy and loving homes. I continued to groom and formed a partnership with Link Mixson Apartments, who graciously allowed me to groom their residents dogs from their dog wash area.
In 2020 the apartment amenities temporarily closed due to Covid, so we brought our business outside and in August of 2020 we applied for a home based business license through the city. In 2021 we renovated a room in our home to accommodate a professional home based salon.
In 2021 our family grew by two little feet instead of four furry paws as we welcomed our son, Lucas, to the pack.
While I am proud of the work I have accomplished in the nonprofit sector, we are excited to announce that our growing clientele has allowed me to transition to grooming full time and expanding “Maddie’s Do
If I have ever sent you a photo of your pup in the tub… just know there’s 🎵five hundred twenty-five thousand-six- hundred 🎵bloopers.
Doggy Doorbell
Look what we installed!
We want your pup to be excited to come to Maddie’s Dog House! So we installed a doorbell with a treat dispenser. This positive reward makes the trip to the groomer a happy experience from the moment of drop off.
Want to test it out? Hit the button on the side and let the treats fly! (Feel free to just press it on your walks as well- we want them to associate our home as a happy place to visit).
Short haired dog problems: You get jealous that your brother gets more attention from the groomer than you. 😂🤷♀️
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Puppy kisses and Valentine’s Day wishes ❤️😍
Come take a tour of our grooming room!
Some of you haven’t seen our new salon yet, so we wanted to share a quick virtual tour!
At Maddie’s Dog House it is Important to us that we give your pup the comfort of home without sacrificing professional quality.

A Little Bit More About Me
I have over 7 years of experience in the animal care industry and have worked for veterinary clinics as both a veterinary technician and as a dog groomer.
In 2015 my little family moved to Sicily, Italy and my love of animals morphed into a lifestyle and ultimately career path. You see Sicily has over 750,000 stray dogs and I quickly joined a nonprofit animal welfare organization called S.A.W.S.
In 2016 I officially opened my own home based grooming salon!
We moved to Charleston, SC in 2019, and I now work full time as the Interim Executive Director for a local animal shelter. I was missing the creative outlet that grooming provides. So, in great anticipation I teamed up with Link Mixson Apartments to offer dog grooming services to residents.
WHY ENTER “The Dog House”?
Convenient location: I will be operating out of the Link Paw Spa, which makes your pup less anxious about that dreadful car ride and easier on your busy schedule! Not a Mixson Resident? Have no fear, I am still able to accommodate you from either your house or mine! That’s right, I am mobile as well!
Competitive prices: The personalized care you and your pup receive, combined with the convenience of location, and a streamlined process, my prices are compatible with that of local groomers.
Knowledgeable: Extensive backgrounds in many facets of the animal care industry.
Attentive care: It all started with me grooming my own dogs at home. I did this because of the anxiety they had when brought to the local groomers. It started with that dreaded car ride which only built when we walked into the loud, unfamiliar environment. From personal experience, I worked at a Vet Clinic that offered grooming, most groomers have multiple pups in a confined room, which means a stressful environment. The unfamiliar sounds of blow dryers and clippers can be stressful enough for your Pup. Combine that with multiple strangers and new dogs, it's not a calm environment. It’s also not uncommon for a groomer to leave pups to sit in kennels to dry and wait while they finish with another client. That is why I love the one-on-one appointments. Your pup becomes part of my family and it is my goal to make sure that they never have to wait in a kennel!
Compassionate: I am an animal lover and people pleaser. I am the proud Momma of a Caviler King Charles/ Cocker Spaniel Mix and Sicilian Mutt. I deeply care for the well being of my clients. A one on one appointment guarantees that your pup will be well watched with undivided attention and free from ensuing chaos of a kennel. This makes that dreaded trip to the groomer more like a trip to the spa! I believe in the use of aromatherapy in my work space, not only does it help eliminate pet odor for me, but is proven to help soothe the central nervous system of pups, so they have a more enjoyable time.
