Abstract :: The known species of Allacta Saussure & Zehntner, 1895 in India are reviewed. Three , A. sp. nov., A. sp. nov., and A. sp. nov., are described. All are placed under . The new species can be differentiated from other members of hamifera species group by the pronotal and facial markings, the structure of the male genitalia and other morphological characters. Additional reports to A. and A. are provided. A key to the known species of Allacta is provided. ||

Abstract :: The genus Myotis is a diverse group of found on nearly every continent. One clade in this group, the subgenus , is characterized by reddish to yellowish fur and, in some cases, visually striking dichromatic wing pigmentation. Here, we describe a new dichromatic species of Myotis (Chrysopteron) from the in Guinea. The new species is superficially similar to Myotis , but phylogenetic analyses based on cytochrome b data indicated that it is actually more closely related to M. . Discovery of this new taxon increases the number of Myotis species known from mainland Africa to 11 species, although patterns of molecular divergence suggest that cryptic species in the Chrysopteron clade remain to be described. This discovery also highlights the critical importance of the Mountains as a center of and in sub-Saharan Africa.

Etymology: Myotis nimbaensis (“from Nimba”) is named in recognition of the mountain range in which it was discovered. As an epithet referring to a place, is spelled the same way whether applied in combination with either a masculine or a feminine genus name. Woodman (1993) argued that Myotis should be considered feminine in gender, but Pritchard (1994) disagreed. Both of these authors overlooked a 1958 ruling by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature that fixed the gender of Myotis as masculine and placed the name as such on the Official List of Generic Names in Zoology (ICZN, 1958). So in this case, nimbaensis is masculine.

novataxa.blogspot.com/2021/01/afroedura.html 🤘🏽 🦎
DOI: doi.org/10.3897/zse.97.57202 🔓

Abstract :: Four new species of flat in the Loveridge, 1944 are described from south-western and west-central Angola. The description of these new species significantly restricts the distribution range of typical A. bogerti, a morphologically very similar species, from which they differ genetically by 5.9–12% divergence for the mitochondrial 16S ribosomal RNA gene. Morphologically and genetically, Afroedura are divided into two main groups: a mostly south-western coastal group and a west-central inland/highland group. These two groups are further divisible into three and two subgroups respectively, all geographically isolated, differing by a combination of the following features: , average adult size, number of mid-body scale rows, number of scale rows on dorsal and ventral surface of each tail verticil and if nostril scales are in contact or not. All five Angolan species are morphologically distinguishable and in agreement with the molecular results. An updated dichotomous key to the Afroedura group is provided. The new discovery adds to a growing number of Pro- reptiles described from Angola in recent years. ||

ABSTRACT :: We describe a new glandular terrestrial frog of the Pristimantis ( : Craugastoridae) genus. The new species inhabits the high of the Cañar province in southern Ecuador. It differs from other terrestrial frogs by having a striking dark gray and red dorsal coloration, dorsal skin with a corrugated texture, a small tubercle on the eyelid and heel, absence of vomerine odontophores, and large glandular patches on the supratympanic area, arms and limbs. Our molecular analyses show that the new species is in a clade with P. orcesi and P. erythros. Based on our results, we redefine the orcesi group and suggest that it contains only three species ( , P. erythros, and the new species); the group is diagnosed mainly by exhibiting conspicuous dermal on the head, body and legs. ||

Abstract :: The New Zealand gecko genus Toropuku is currently monotypic, but the sole member of the genus, T. stephensi, is distributed in two disjunct, geographically distant regions of New Zealand – the islands of (which includes the type locality, ), between New Zealand’s North and South Islands, and the , in the northeastern North Island. Previously published results, based on three total individuals, recognized substantial—possibly species-level—diversity between these disparate localities, although no taxonomic decisions were made at that time. More recently, additional animals have been found on the Coromandel Peninsula. We here present phylogenetic and morphological evidence based on this expanded dataset to formally describe the populations on the Peninsula as a , Toropuku sp. nov. The specific epithet refers to the species’ surprise discovery in a herpetologically well-surveyed area. The recognition of T. inexpectatus sp. nov. as a distinct species has implications for the status of , which is now considered restricted to three islands in Cook Strait. ||

Vo veku 51 rokov zomrel bývalý policajný prezident Milan Lučanský. Prostredníctvom sociálnej siete o tom informovala bývalá ministerka vnútra Denisa Saková. Úmrtie potvrdil aj rezort spravodlivosti.

„Dnes o 15.55 h ošetrujúci lekár konštatoval smrť pána Milana Lučanského hospitalizovaného vo Fakultnej nemocnici s poliklinikou J. A. Reimana Prešov.
