Sunmoon Ranch would like to express our gratitude for our amazing staff. Their dedication and talent has enabled us to provide an amazing atmosphere that provides to the healthy progression of our horses. We have been very blessed to have the opportunity to work with some phenominal horses. Our most recent project has been rehabilitating and training OTTB horses. The journey has been very rewardin
g to see these horses being able to progress into a healthy and productive life beyond the track. Our goal with all of our horses, performance or just a good trail rider is to give them the skills they need to perform their job. What is also just as is important is to match the horse with the right owner to create the companionship. I have learned that proper communication between rider and horse is established through humans being able to remove themselves from our natural ego and simplify our intentions to the Equus of the horse. Everyone has their own methods of training. but the horse has a simple way of communicating and the basics are all the same. All horses, like humans have a unique and individual personality. Some adapt almost immediately to any enviorment, as some can take a while to acclimate to a new barn, pasture or herd. To ensure a successful transition it is always a positive approach to give a horse time to adapt to not only you but also your training methods. A new enviorment or change in routine, training conditions, etc can create a nervous or resistant horse. When a horse leaves our program it is helpful for the new owner to correspond with our program or advice while introducing the horse to their ways. Sunmoon Ranch has enjoyed all of the positive feedback and success stories from our clients. Some have been in relations with us for years and we always love to share the pictures they send of their horses. Recently we had a mare that was deemed unsafe for a youth rider. I am thrilled that this very same mare is now being rode by a 7 year old child and recently in a competition. Not only was her training successful here at the ranch but her new family is very accomplished in their horsemanship to add. Sunmoon Ranch would like to thank all of the wonderful people that have contributed to the success and growth to our horses and our program. Horses are perfect, there is no truth in putting the blame on a horse, or others for our own failures. It is our job as their stewards and companions to set aside our complicated emotions and become their trusted friend and lead them to success. If we are stable, consistent, and grounded than so shall be your horse and your relationship.
