Mulder is very excited to try ! I am extremely picky when it comes to what I feed and Viva Raw caught my attention through . Mulder has been raw fed for more than half of his life now. The benefits are seen everyday in him; He turned 8 this year and you would never know it. Nutrition is key to optimal health, especially behavior!

New Non-Profit Offering Low-cost Spay and Neuter Services



Hudson Falls, N.Y. – A new non-profit aims to address to the over-population issue of cats and dogs in the area. ADK Spay and Neuter, located at 100 John Street, Hudson Falls, is now open, offering low-cost spay and neuter services.



The clinic is the brainchild of veterinarian Dr. Sarah Jensen, who was inspired back in 2019 to provide assistance to pet owners who struggled to afford spay and neuter services at a traditional veterinarian practice. “There is such a large demand,” she said. “People are coming from relatively far away.” In addition to individuals seeking care for their pets, many of the animals brought to the clinic come from rescue groups. “I was not anticipating how many animals would come from these groups,” she commented.



The ADK Spay and Neuter clinic is open on Mondays and Tuesdays. All appointments need to be made through their website at www.adkspayandneuter.com. Fees are based on a sliding scale. Those who qualify for the lowest fee are required to provide income verification, either with a pay stub, food stamp card, WIC card or Medicaid card.



Dr. Jensen is currently volunteering her services at the clinic, and is seeking to hire an additional veterinarian. In addition to her work with the non-profit, she is also a partner at the Granville Large Animal Veterinary Service. The clinic also employs a licensed vet tech and a veterinary assistant, along with several volunteers.



ADK Spay and Neuter is currently holding a fundraiser for the clinic. Donations of any amount are being accepted. For each $100 raised, a hand-painted Christmas ornament will be placed on a tree in the clinic’s lobby. To donate, go to the ADK Spay and Neuter page.

Do you feed your dog breed specific food?

What makes you get it?

Do you go to the pet shop and think “ah food for labradors” and grab that bag purely due to the marketing?

There is no way to research breed specific nutrition, dogs are all the same on the inside. There is nothing in a dogs digestive tract that would be different than another dog. Let me ask you this.. Do you believe the same for people? Perhaps different nationalities, races or sexes should have different diets? Use your head, don't be so gullible!

Of course within each breed, every dog is different for example there are breeds which are more prone to allergies such as West Highland Terriers but not every Westie is prone to allergies. There will be Westies who are energetic and do lots of activities and others who are couch potatoes. All breeds…all dogs…require the same nutrients but individual dogs, irrespective of their breed, will have different energy and health requirements and as such will do better on a certain food than others. One size definitely does not fit all!

Don’t fall for the b*******. It’s purely a marketing gimmick!

October is "Adopt a Shelter Dog" Month!

Many dogs are looking for homes through local shelters and rescues. I always advocate for adoption, as it can be very difficult to find an ethical breeder who produces healthy puppies. I never recommend purchasing a puppy through a Pet store or "Backyard breeder" (Someone who breeds dogs without health screenings and churns out litter after litter to make a profit).

I adopted Mulder (my pug) through a Pug Breed Rescue when he was only 10 weeks old. It is entirely possible to adopt a purebred puppy through a shelter or rescue organization.
