Orchards Feed was established in 1889, making it the oldest existing business in its original location in Clark County Washington. It originally started out as simply a country feed store where surrounding farmers bought feed for their cows, rabbits, chickens and pigs. The Carlson family bought the business in 1989 and began to expand the store by including supplies for dogs, cats, horses and wild

life. While we may not stock elephant feed or alligator chow, we know where to get it and what it sells for. Our main focus of products falls into five major categories. Those include horse and livestock, pets, wild bird, lawn and garden, and heating fuel. We carry a broad spectrum in each category to take care of a wide range of customers. We pride ourselves on not only carrying and having in stock those items you need, but also if we don’t stock what you want we will get it for you. And if you want it brought to you, we will even deliver it. We are a business that prides itself on consistency, history and community. We have been here for over 120 years and expect to be here for another 120 years. The Orchards Feed team has more experience in this business than any of its competitors in the area. With management having a combined 50 plus years’ experience, we are unequalled in the industry. Customer Service is also a cornerstone of our business philosophy. Clifford getting his 4th "halter" lesson today by Tom. He was.....not thrilled. He's quite the opinionated youngster and is growing leaps and bounds. We're trying to get him trained so we can walk him around the property like his parents, and meet his fan club, but boy oh boy he was stubborn as a "donkey" today. He might be jealous of all the love the baby "Andrews" are getting.

The baby "Andrews" are loving their new playground built by our Warehouse Guys turned carpenters Paul and Zac. They are too young to spend the night in their outdoor paddocks built by the Nursery "Andrews" but are out there from time to time for you to go and view. At 3 weeks old they are still being bottle fed and just trying some of the new Timothy Hay and Teff hay we carry, along w nibbling at our new Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. "Kid Feed".

We are asked constantly if our animals outside (Donkeys, Chickens, Goats, Ducks, Geese and Pigeons) are for sale, and we delight in explaining to people the answer.

Our Orchards Feed Store Farm Animals are not for sale, but are there for the enjoyment of future generations to see the joys of agriculture and farm life.

We do not charge, there is no fee, we just want young and old alike to enjoy the feeling if seeing the animals run around and play, interact w each other and customers. Get to meet them when we take them in walks on leads. And remember that we are still a family owned store that has been around since 1889 and we realize we are nothing without you, you deserve the happiness that comes from seeing baby goats, fluffy chickens, happy baby donkeys and ornery geese lol.

Our Walla Wallas have arrived! Fresh bunches of 50 to 75 for only $4.99

They are at the front door along w our seed potatoes and other onions sets.

We also have other varieties of onions and leeks in 6 packs in the nursery, each 6 pack cell has 15 to 30 small plants as well $4.99 per six pack.

We are so proud of all the work that both Andrew's (not the goats - the other Andrew's), Josh and Caylee have done thus far to make this reopening of the nursery the best year we have had at Orchards Feed Store.

We look forward to you coming and seeing our progress as this is an ongoing project. Did you know we are planting over 35 trees and shrubs on the property to bring in much needed shade, as well as over 100 roses and fruiting bushes to help bring beauty and food for our wildlife and pollinators. And wait til you see the fence by the end of the summer - 20 different varieties of climbing roses will even make your drive more beautiful as you drive on either sides of the roads around us. We chose a fun variety if colors and styles of climbers.

All these are outside and ready for purchase. Fantastic pricing from $24.99 to $34.99 - for Shrub, Climbers, Goundcovers, Mini's, Miniflora, Rugosa's Floribunda, Species, Grandiflora, Hybrid Tea, Already potted up and pruned and ready to be planted in your garden !

As well as some specialty Tree Roses From $44.99 to $59.99 for the two different sizes and $69.99 for the Double Rose tree's with two different types on the same tree.

Come in quick as we have had some customers getting 5 to 10 at a time. We are in the PNW, the best place to grow Roses in the country - in my humble opinion lol.

Today we were honored to have some of the members of the Longview Public Library Memorial Rose Garden bless us with their presence. They came to check out our newly opened nursery and especially our rose selection. They selected some for the Memorial Rose Garden where roses are bought and purchased by people in honor and memory of loves ones. And these angels here and others tend over and curate the lovely rose garden there. Our staff were so tickled to have these pillars of rose knowledge who volunteer their time and work to prune, fertalize and protect the living monuments of those past on.
A wonderful reminder to reach out to your local library's, community resources and gardens to see if you can lend a hand.

Orchards Feed Store plant spotlight!
Today it's two different plants with unique blossoms, one that tollerates exteme shade and moist conditions, the other extreme sun and dry conditions. Currently we have both in the nursery, which we just reopened today.

Pictures 1-3 are Hellebores, also known as Lenten Roses or Winter Roses. They are a genus of about 20 flowering perennial plants native to Asia and Europe. They are part of the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae, which also includes clematis, columbine, and anemone. Hellebores are known for their bowl-shaped flowers with five petals that bloom in late winter or early spring, brightening shady areas. Being able to push through the snow and bloom in the middle of winter led people in the Middle ages to believe their roots reached down to hell to keep the plant warm and be able to bloom in the midst of the worst weather.

Caper plant- Native to the Mediterranean, Capers are a highly ornamental trailing plant that can grow to become a small bush. Mature caper bushes can grow three feet high and spread four or five feet. They require dry heat and intense sunlight to flourish. They will be killed by temperatures below 20 degrees F. In the northwest plant on the full sun side of your house and keep on the dry side during winter. Or bring the plants inside during the winter. It is possible to grow capers in pots on your patio in the hottest areas that other plants would not survive, then bring them inside the house and let go dormant til spring.

Being family owned since 1889 means we have definitely been around the block a time or two, so we wanted to show you our street smarts also known as block knowledge lol 🥁

We have so many different blocks to offer you. To help nourish both your animals stomach and mind. Recently we brought in Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. And their variety of chicken, goat and deer blocks is staggering. High quality blocks with delicious flavors, and extremely dense - meaning they last much longer. And their special seasonal flavors are so fun - Candy Apple for winter - Calming Lavendar Willdflower for Spring - Mixed Berry for Summer and of course - Pumpkin Spice for Fall.

The Old Truck smells like fruit just walking around it. We put one of the Henhouse reserve in our Orchards Feed Store Animal Farm chicken pen and it's lasted 2 times longer than others and is still being picked at.

Blocks help keep chickens minds occupied when in the Coop and helps deter picking.

Well, before I could post this post, a wonderful customer of ours came and bought this handsome sweetheart. Beauregaurd is an amazing Bantam Cochin and loves cuddles and watching TV with humans and eating pop corn - Ask Matt, he can confirm.

Did you know we occasionally have full grown roosters for sale to add to your flock (not for food - if you even mention eating we will refuse the sale) - call the store or ask the front if we have any available. Roosters offer several benefits to a chicken flock, including flock protection from predators, maintaining flock harmony, keeps hens calm thus maintaining better egg protection. I love my roo. Not all areas allow roosters, but since we serve people from multiple counties we still wanted you to explore the option.

So much happening at Orchards Feed Store !
We started moving out plants from the greenhouse and setting them up in order in the Nursery.

One of the highlights is the large Daphne plants we got that are coming into bloom, we set them at the front entrance next to our planted Daphne that are blooming their heads off. People always ask us what those bushes are, so we got some to sell. With hopes you can be one to get ones of these, and enjoy the earliest blooming highly scented shrubs. (Supplies are limited).

Also on the move are our 1,700 roses heading out to the display boxes arranged for them. We have so many varieties and so many sizes. All potted up, rooted and boosted w our organic fertalizer blend.

Whew, so much to get done by Saturday with the reopening of our Nursery. Please remember it's a work in progress, just know that every week it will be better and better!

Spring has sprung at Orchards Feed Store and the nursery is springing to life. We have been putting our plants out all day, with so much more to come out from the greenhouse. We plan on everything being out by Saturday morning, including our 1,700 roses and rose trees. P.s. our prices are amazing!

Some fun news - We are doing an entire re-landscape of the nursery area and Orchards Farm. Planting trees for shade as well as walking garden paths and sitting areas to enjoy the plants and our Orchards Farm Animals.....soooooo many fluffy animals.

We are so excited about our partnership with EB Stone Organics and all of their soils and mulches for outdoor use.

But Matt our Manager is so excited about their entire line of organic fertalizers for all things Roses, Roses, Roses -as well as species specific soils and supplements for both indoor and outdoor plants. Citrus, Evergreens, Fruit trees, Camelia, Rhodies, Azalea, Bonsai, Orchids and so much more.

You will be truly impressed with this line we have brought in. It's a change from what we have carried before but we still have a lot of tried and true other items on our shelves and the soil and mulch sections. And our prices are amazing.

Time to freshen up your beds and feed those older faithful friends in your garden.

Today the Andrew's got to go on their second day of Harness and Leash training and got to do the following:

1. Check out the other Andrew's and Paul building their new enclosure and letting them know what was good and Baaaaad.

2. Showed off their jumping skills and ability to bounce everywhere except out of their harnesses, no matter how they tried.

3. Last but not least, they went and visited Wilma, Fred and Baby Clifford and they all did their sniff tests to decide whether they will be friends later on - its promising.

They are growing so fast, it's amazing to think today was their 1 week mark.

Day 4 Unending thanks to Northern Garden Supply for taking on this project of deconstruction and creating of our new Greenhouse and Shade house. Without Chris and his crew we would not be able to create what we are creating here at Orchards Feed Store . Everyday we will reveal more and more of our plans for thos property and the attractions we are planning. We are so happy to find family owned companies like this to work with. The seeds planted now for blooms in spring!
