Happy Tails Rescue & T-N-R Project Owego A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit rescue organization affiliated with, and a subsidiary of Happy Tails No-Kill Animal Shelter, Towanda, PA.
(16)

We have helped cats, dogs, farm animals and even exotic animals and birds since we formally organized in 2009, but our focus, locally, is to trap/neuter/release (or re-home) feral or abandoned cats. In 2017, we've gone from a hands-on rescue group to one that supports independent rescuers, financially, by raising funds. Annually, our fundraising efforts include rummage sales, book sales, plant sal

es, and an ongoing can and bottle drive. Occasionally, for expensive vet cases, we run online fundraisers on Facebook.

From Owego, NY...

After a month of looking for this sweet boy's owners on the Lost and Found page, we decided no one wants him anymore, so we got him vetted (he's healthy -- FeLV and FIV negative) and last week, got him neutered, and now we're looking for an indoor home for him. He's too nice to be outside with the traffic and other outdoor hazards.

We named him Stinky, but after neutering, he now needs a much nicer name and a family who will love him.

He had an earmite infestation. They've been treated, but might have to be monitored and treated a little more. I think we got rid of the worms, successfully. No more issues that we see.

Overall, he's a really good boy. He'll need time to get to know you, but once he's comfortable and trusts his people, he's wonderful. A laid-back dude. He uses a litter box with no problem.

There will be an adoption fee and we will do a Vet check on potential new parents. I don't know if he gets along with other cats or dogs. We will take him back, no questions asked, if he doesn't work out.

To those who might remember Sox, when we needed some financial help for his stomatitis surgery.... HERE HE IS! Mouth's all better, still spunky and sweet, and now, he has a new mailing address! A rough beginning with a happy ending! Enjoy your new home, Fella.

Our boy Sox has been adopted! After a hard start to life he has finally found his person! Sox we will miss your silly self very much but we are excited to see you go off to your new home!

PLEASE snip all rings off cans, bottles, etc. This is so unnecessary and awful.

Our Story

Happy Tails Rescue is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group affiliated with Happy Tails No-Kill Animal Shelter in Towanda, PA. Ken Willet and Don Woodard run the rescue, and both sit on the Board of Directors of the shelter.

We have helped to rescue or or re-home cats, dogs, farm- and exotic animals and birds since we formally organized the rescue in 2009. Our focus is Trap / Neuter / Release (T/N/R) of feral cats. Since 2009, over 2500 cats have been trapped, neutered / spayed, vaccinated, and either released (ferals) or homed (strays.) Every year, the request for our assistance increases. We deeply depend on the community to help us raise money. We run a full gamut of sales annually -- rummage-, book-, and plant sales, so we’re always looking for donations for those sales. We also run an ongoing redeemable bottle and can drive, and scrap-metal recycling project.

Separately, we have a small thrift store, and we sell donated items online. Our page for the store is Happy Re-Tails.
