Regarding dog parks...

Some dogs may be incredibly extroverted and love playing with new dogs. But for the most part, it can be a lot of work and potentially stressful to figure out the play style of each new dog, and many dogs are happier making specific friends and sticking with them. A great option to consider is forming a playgroup for your dog, or carefully evaluating a doggy daycare.

DOG AUCTIONS are common in the puppy mill industry, and are particularly prevalent within Amish communities.

A dog auction is essentially the same as a livestock auction but is limited to selling dogs, dog housing and breeding equipment.

Dog auctions are held for several reasons:
1. A commercial breeder may going out of business and wants to sell all of his breeding stock.
2. A breeder may be interested in culling old breeding stock and purchasing younger, more fertile breeding dogs.
3. New breeders may go to dog auctions to purchase their start-up breeding stock and equipment.

Dog auctions usually have 100-450 dogs of all ages listed for sale. They are sold in an auction-style format, to the highest bidder. The dogs are lined up on a table usually four at a time, then the auctioneer starts the bidding.

Auctioneer highlights the ages of the dogs, whether or not they’re in heat, whether or not they're proven breeders who produce large litters with good motherly instincts.
The auctioneer will say anything to sell the dog for the highest price.

The dogs are sold “as is” and most are sold with chronic untreated painful conditions such as ear infections, rotten teeth, urinary tract infections, sores on their feet and more.

Behaviour we find as unacceptable is perfectly acceptable to the dog.
Misbehaving is your dogs way of saying something is wrong.
Instead of correcting him try understanding him.

Here is a video of Fidget learning to hold still while I put the harness on. He needs to hold still and stay on the rug and can only look forward when my hands reach back to clip it. This is a very old harness so the neck piece is a solid loop and they don't like it when it comes off over their ears. The new harnesses have a clip so it's easier to remove without bothering them. This is the 3rd time working with the harness

I'm so sorry for this man's loss. This is just one reason I always tell my clients that their pets need to be secured when in the car. This was not the dog's fault, it was the people's fault for allowing their dogs to ride loose in the car. It also would have helped if she'd been wearing a seatbelt.

"Welcome to MuttMix, where what you get might not be what you see!

We rely on our knowledge of breed features to assess “what a dog is,” and therefore what he might be like.

About The Project
Darwin’s Dogs , a project of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, and U-Mass Medical School, has been conducting heritage research on thousands of dogs, analyzing DNA saliva samples to tell us the genetic history of our canine companions.

In conjunction with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), the team is launching a “citizen science” survey. The data collected will tell us a lot about how people perceive breeds and mixes, how different breed mixes affect the appearance of a dog, how well people can guess their canine friends’ ancestries from looks alone, and how that might affect our lives with dogs. This information is vital to many future projects throughout the scientific world."
