Jefferson Working Dogs is a team of K9 handlers and trainers in the Southern Oregon and Northern California region whose mission is divided equally between Search and Rescue, and rescue and rehab of dogs capable of work placements. We give priority to Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds as they are often misunderstood in shelters.

Hello friends! Who is possibly interested in fostering a rescue mal? We have been inundated with requests for urgent placements and we are at capacity here. These 2 youngsters (a male and a female) are at Stockton, CA shelter and are at risk for euth because of human wary behaviors. Please let us know if you are able to help.

Tracker BRN 47864 is available. 5 year old healthy intact male. He was a civilian PPD until family circumstances forced them to move him. He is a fairly easy keeper, but strong temperament and would NOT be appropriate for a first-timer or basic pet-type home. Service dogs for disabilities are not part of our primary purpose here at JWDs. But a couple times a year we meet a dog that is just the perfect temperament for that work, and accept applications from disabled veterans in need of a service dog. This is Taervys. He came to us back in September and has been in full time training since. He was matched with Lila Sundari Devi Dasi and has been learning the tasks he will be doing to mitigate her combination of disabling conditions. Even considering her daily difficulties, Lila has been working incredibly hard and putting in the hours to learn handling, training maintenence, and make changes to her home situation in order to have the highest chance of success with her new partner. We are so proud of both of them as they finish their final sessions of school and start their new life together this week.
This is an expensive and time consuming process that also includes lifetime support to our veteran beneficiaries which we provide free of charge. We could NOT do it without donations, sponsors and public support. Please consider contributing to Jefferson Working Dog Project 501c3 to continue making these placements possible.

Some of you may not know that JWDs is also the permanent home for a number or retired dogs. Lucas is one of 3 at the moment.
