I think we need some feel good Friday content!!

Last Thursday I executed a well planned mission of trying to secure 2 cats and 4 kittens. I am always very mindful that I may end up with another cat or two so I make sure I have the space and resources to take on an extra couple of felines.

2 cats and 4 kittens very quickly turned into 6 cats and 15 kittens! All kittens are under 4 weeks of age, so trying to work out which kittens belong to which Queen has been challenging.

On Wednesday morning, 3 more kittens were secured. I had them caged separately. This morning I caged all felines in the sanctuary so I could open all the doors to let some air flow through. One of the boys began to cry, then I heard one of the Queens in the other room responding to him! I knew immediately that the 3 new intakes belong with the ‘Party of 9’

Our Party of 9 is now a Party of 12!!

Due to this massive intake, behind the scenes I have been making arrangements for some of our sanctuary cats to head off to their forever homes earlier than I had anticipated. Included in this group are Forest and her kittens.

Dear Alvin has reached his final destination safely, he wishes to thank each and every one of you for all the love and support you have sent his way.

Alvin is young again, pain free and enjoying chasing the butterflies which are plentiful over the rainbow bridge 🌈 🦋🕊️🐾

⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️

I’ve held off writing this post as I needed a couple of days to try and process this absolute tragedy.

Over the weekend Alvin had chronic diarrhoea, he had lost all interest in food. By Monday evening he had eaten a couple of mouthfuls of food and the diarrhoea seemed to have resolved. I thought he was feeling better and was on the mend.

On Tuesday morning when I switched the lights on to start my rounds in the sanctuary, Alvin was half in and half out of his litter tray, as our eyes locked, I knew immediately something was seriously wrong. Then I saw all the blood, SO much blood!!! A sight that I think will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Alvin was haemorrhaging from his bowel. I scooped him up in a towel and held him as tight as I could. He didn’t growl, hiss, swipe, bite or try to fight me. He didn’t have aeroplane ears nor were his pupils the size of saucers. He was completely calm, completely relaxed, lying in my arms with his eyes locked with mine.

I knew I had to get Alvin to the vet as soon as it opened at 8am, but I couldn’t bring myself to put Alvin in a carrier, I just needed to keep holding him!! Completely distraught I rang my friend, Alanah, who picked Alvin and I up and took us to the vet as I was in no condition to drive.

The vet practice hadn’t opened yet, but Alanah had managed to make contact with them and given them a heads up that Alvin was coming in and needed urgent help.

Alvin was promptly sedated, on examination he had a bowel full of tumours which had ruptured (lymphoma). There was nothing that could be done to save Alvin.

Alvin was humanely assisted over the rainbow bridge.

A BIG thank you to Alanah Day and CareVets Kilbirnie for all your love and compassion on Tuesday.

I’m so sorry you had to endure such a miserable life Alvin, through absolutely no fault of your own.

Rest in love mate, your life mattered!!

Run free with Grandpa Buster and Rodney The Cats Legacy they will give you all the love you deserved but sadly never received here on earth.

After securing a litter of 5, two week old kittens yesterday, I was getting desperate trying to locate and catch their Mum.

Imagine my surprise when not one but two Queens were caught! I arrived home just before midnight. Due to the cats not being friendly I couldn’t physically pick them up or touch them to try and work out which Mum had the litter of 5!

After humming and harring, I decided to spilt the litter up, I weighed the kittens, giving 3 to one Queen and 2 to the other Queen. I then left them to it, returning 2 hours later to weigh the kittens again. All kittens had gained weight, which meant they were all being fed!

I weighed the kittens this morning and they are all still gaining.

This is such a big relief for me!!

Four more kittens secured 🙌🏼

25/11/2025

This little one was found near a public walkway close to the property I’ve been trapping on at around 5am this morning.

He’s much younger than the kittens from the party of 9 already in care.

A trap was set and despite him crying out for his Mum, she didn’t return for him.

His eyes were sealed shut, filled with pus. I’m now bottle feeding him, hoping his Mum will return at some stage!

I will head out again on dusk to search for more of his siblings 🤞🏻

Our gorgeous party of 9 are settling in well!

All sorts of yuck is coming out of them after I treated them all with a broad spectrum wormer yesterday.

Tomorrow, this blended family’s accommodation will be upgraded to our deluxe condo suite. (Photo in the comments).

Donations towards their care would be greatly appreciated.

I thought there was another Queen, I was over the moon I’d decided to re-set the traps!

Then, just as I’d packed up all my gear for the night, I heard a tiny meow!

This wee kitten has no idea how lucky she is, she was nearly left behind all by herself!!

It was quite a mission to secure her!! I certainly don’t recommend climbing rugged terrain, in the dark while wearing jandals 😆

Heading home now to reunite these girls with the rest of their family ♥️

I hope this beautiful Queen enjoyed a couple of nights off, I’ve just found the rest of her kids 😳

Poor wee scared girls, I am so pleased they have each other as they are definitely a bonded pair.

Both are allowing me to pat them and treat their eye infections which is a great start.

Please no messages enquiring about adopting them at this stage as they have a long road ahead of them.

I’ve had a very busy morning securing and bringing another 5 felines into care.

I had a feeling I’d only scratched the surface after securing the two girls yesterday.
