Pupdate: I LOVE getting updates from clients months and even years after our training program has ended. Even better when they include video of the dog applying the skills they learned in lessons!
Check out Townsend making great, calm, choices around a surprise street rooster. Would your dog be able to control their excitement? (Psst. with training they could!). For those of you who have taken lessons with me to work on reactivity and arousal issues, you'll recognize the skills being employed!

Tuesday Tips: End with Success!
I went to a Funmatch in September where I was a little dissapointed in myself. Arry showed me she was DONE by run 5. Yet I pushed her and asked her to do another run even though all she wanted to do was nap. After looking at the videos I was scolding myself for not listening to my dog's signals and being a better teammate. BUT, At least I ended with something easy and fun that Arry could get right! Even though I now see she was tired and I asked too much of her, she still had a smile and a wag throughout so I can be happy about that.
Today's tip is simply stated but a bit harder to apply when you have a goal or expectation stuck in your mind. End with success! If you see your dog struggling, let go of what you expect them to do (based on yesterday or your own goals), let go of repeating what they are showing you they can't do, find the next thing your dog CAN do. And celebrate that success!
Happy National Black Dog day from the OG Pawsitive Change Dog Training “employee” Star! Show me your black dogs in the comments!
Star is the best big sister and has always been a great sport about sharing her home with ill mannered younger siblings 😉
Just a little bit of fun that Arry and I had at a practice during our staycation!
Millie's people originally reached out for loose leash walking training. With my 6 lesson loose leash walking program they were able to transform walks from yo-yoing from Millie either pulling or planting to an enjoyable stroll down the street. Thanks to the personalized nature of private lessons we were also able to teach her this super cute Glen sit trick. She's now a Glen sit master as well as a loose leash walking champion.
