Let's talk hairless vs drex vs patchwork/werewolf...
So hairless is created by a true hairless being bred to a carrier or another hairless however true hairless females have an issue with location so many prefer to breed a hairless male to a female carrier.. now a carrier can be normal fur, rex or any other combo. But the only way you will get a hairless is the recessive gene..
So like Apollo he carries recessive but he's a rex..when he was bred to a normal furred girl who carried he produced some recessive, some rex and some.normal furred... now I had 2 of his offspring who's moms were siblings and I bred them 1 was recessive hairless the other normal furred .. I got 2 rec hairless and 2 normal furred because the female was a carrier..
Now drex is a rex bred to another rex.. if there are no recessive you could get drex who are hairless or with peach fuzz, or some can be thin furred or even look like a rex, while others look like they have mange and their hair grows in and falls out in patches. (HENCE why they used to be called patchwork, Before they started calling werewolf patchwork) which can be very confusing when older breeders still call them that.. however these hairless are not recessive which means they do not carry the gene...( but do to many like myself who may have not known there was recessive Ina line may have crossed it into a rex there for making it very hard to prove without alot of effort.)
Now patchwork/werewolf... I've never worked with but from those I have talked to it is a completely differnt gene. And they molt in a circular pattern vs rex or drex that molt in patches. Other then that the only way to breed them is to have the werewolf gene and/or carriers. However there are not many who work with them but there are more now then there was a few yrs back but they can be on a more pricey side due to the difficulty to breed... like I said I don't know much about them other wise then what I've been told.
I know there are many other coats that combined can get various furs but I've only worked with rex, drex, rec hl, normal fur for a decade and I've only had velveteen for the past year.. I couldn't tell you anything about satin, Harleys, teddy rex ( other then it's rex bred to a velveteen) I don't work with as many genes as others do because I don't understand them as well as I do the ones I've been working with. So I apologize I may not have things that some look for but I'd rather have solid good temperaments with what I do work with then trying to figure out others.
Hope this information helps with those who have asked the difference. And never be afraid to ask questions if I don't know an answer I will try my hardest to find out or send you to a group page to ask where there are those who work with many other genes then I do.. :)
As always have a blessed day!
