This is Amos! This boy is absolutely gorgeous and has the personality to match.

He is a playful, loveable, tripawd. Poor guy had an amputation at a very early age but it hasn't slowed him down one bit. You know those people who just make everything more fun? That's Amos, in a dog version. He shows up and things just get fun! He loves to be by your side, whether it's running around or cuddling on the couch. He loves respectful children, other dogs, even the sassy cat that was in his temporary foster home. It's true, Amos is an equal-opportunity lovebug!

Whew! These dogs all nailed it at today's adoption event. SIX dogs were in attendance and they all did great from start to finish! Puppy Duchess was very popular, and now has an application. Andrew poured on the labbish charm and he has an application. Hattie, Grove and Kobe each met potential forever people. Amos was too busy playing with all the other dogs to really promote himself to people, but we're pretty sure every dog there would vote yes to have him as their playmate. And dang, that boy is gorgeous!

Applications can fall through so if you are interested in any of these guys and gals, keep an eye on our website for status changes. A huge thank you to our volunteers, our fosters and to this amazing group of dogs for making today SO MUCH FUN for everyone!

It's Saturday the 15th, today's the day! Come meet Andrew, Grove, Kobe, Hattie and new to the lineup - DUCHESS at our adoption event from 11-2 at Pet Quarters in Scarborough (Payne Road). Kobe and Grove may be in competition for who has the most fun tail - my money is on Grove but Kobe's tail is no slouch itself!

A couple of reminders: We do not adopt on site, so please fill out an application and go through the adoption approval process. Also, some dogs do not enjoy the energy at adoption events, in the interest of not stressing anyone out, some dogs may leave early.

Hounds in tha house!!! Kobe (tri-color) and Hattie (brindle) will both be at our adoption event this Saturday at Pet Quarters in Scarborough. The event runs 11-2 but sometimes these things are too much for some dogs, so we can't be sure everyone will be there until the end. Kobe and Hattie hope to see you this weekend!

Andrew is a sweet, happy, and well-rounded boy who’s ready to find his forever family. He loves everyone he meets - dogs, people, and even cats! Andrew is happy to share his toys and treats with the other dog in his foster home and loves to play, always adjusting his energy to match his playmate’s. When recently fostered with a senior pup, he showed us how gentle and respectful he can be. As we are coming off the high from the party for the pups, we received this wonderful One Year Gotcha Day update from Olive's (originally from Mississippi) family. This was a timely reminder of why we do what we do, for dogs like Olive. We want all dogs to be adored by their loving families, like Olive is.

"Just over a year ago, we welcomed our second rescue dog, Olive, into our family—thanks to the amazing team at Almost Home Rescue in Maine. From the moment she arrived, Olive was shy but quickly bonded with our larger rescue dog, Rosie. Their friendship blossomed instantly, and now they’re inseparable—running and playing together outside like lifelong pals. Olive is a vocal, spirited pup who loves walks, hikes, and backyard adventures. Whether she’s playing ball solo or herding Rosie with playful determination, she brings endless energy and joy to our home. She’s a fan of treats, chew toys, and greeting every family member with tail wags and excitement—especially when our kids bring their friends over. Her sweet nature and lively personality have made her a perfect addition to our family—and to Rosie’s life too. We’re so grateful for the love she shares with us every day.

What a great turnout for last night's 12th Annual Party for the Pups fundraiser, it was a huge success! Oh yes, we partied for the pups, we partied hard for those pups!

We want to thank all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, bidders, winners, raffle-ers, heads/tails participants, and EVERYONE who came out to support the past, present and future dogs of Almost Home Rescue! The community support is overwhelming and gives us goosebumps. There aren't even enough words to express our gratitude (though we're considering making up some fun, new words just for this purpose).

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! THE NIGHT IS TONIGHT! We put the FUN in fundraiser!

Let's recap: SO MANY of raffles, including one for a limited-tickets-sold-so-one-in-25-chance-to-win an iPad. Over 140 silent auction items to bid on (I believe 147 is the magic number, actually). DJ and dancing, yummy slider station and appetizers, cash bar and a very enjoyable heads/tails game where you put your hands on your head, or your butt and can win prizes depending on a coin toss. We'll have ALL NEW short and long sleeve T's, 1/4 zips, hoodie and crewneck sweatshirts for sale too.

ALL THIS and more starting at 7pm tonight at Dunegrass Golf Club in Old Orchard Beach, ME. The event goes until 10pm, auction ends at 9pm. While we do take cards and venmo, cash is always super quick and easy for raffles, and transactions in general. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!

Almost Home Rescue of New England is an all-breed canine rescue group located in Maine and New Hampshire. We are 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs.

Most of AHR’s dogs have come from overcrowded shelters in Arkansas and most recently Mississippi; however, we also take dogs from local shelters, veterinarians, and other situations that require rescue. All of our imported dogs arrive with a current Health Certificate, meet Maine and New Hampshire state import and vaccination requirements, are wormed, micro-chipped, and transported on an U.S.D.A. approved transport. We are an all volunteer run organization. All the dogs listed are either still waiting in Arkansas, Tennessee, or Mississippi Shelters, or they are in New England Foster Homes waiting to be adopted
