Who needs a running buddy?

Well hello beautiful Spaz! Spaz is approximately 1.5 years old lab mix and has been at the Noble Animal Welfare and Shelter for over 170 days. She can climb a 6’ chain link fence so will need a wood fence to hold her energy in the yard. She is very energetic and people friendly. Loves attention and walks fairly well on a leash. Spaz has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. The shelter is open Wednesday-Sunday 9:00-6:00. Closed 1:00-2:00 for lunch. $25 adoption fee.

She’s perfect for a companion!🖤🐾

Meet Tippy!

Where are all the dog lovers who prefer a mature lady?

Tippy is approximately 7 years old and has been at the Noble Animal Welfare and Shelter for 52 days. She is about 60 pounds and a black lab. 🖤

Tippy is very sweet and does fairly well when on a leash walk. She loves to fence run with the other dogs in the shelter. ♥️

This older gal is very gentle & sweet with people. She has not shown aggression to the dogs in the shelter. She showed interest in our shelter cat but has not aggression towards her. 😻

Tippy is fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. $25 adoption fee!

Noble Animal Shelter is open Wed.-Sun. 9am-6pm
(Closed 1-2pm for lunch.)

PLEASE like and share this post so we can find her a forever home! 💙

Fabulous news! Six shelters in our state!

Six Oklahoma animal shelters achieved a 90% save rate, for the first time, for cats and dogs entering the shelters in the past year. Blanchard Animal Control, Glenpool Animal Control and Shelter, Purcell Animal Shelter, Tuttle Animal Shelter, Holdenville Animal Shelter, and Wynnewood Animal Shelter all received recognition for reaching this milestone by Best Friends Animal Society and Common Bonds. Best Friends and Common Bonds Oklahoma are working across the state to provide support for nonprofit animal services and increase shelter engagement to help end the needless euthanasia of shelter animals

So excited to see this dialogue!

So excited to see this dialogue!

I met with some concerned constituents about Oklahoma’s pet overpopulation problem.

Thousands of stray and unwanted pets are destroyed annually because there are not enough homes for them. I listened to their ideas on better ways to reduce the number of stray and unwanted pets in Oklahoma. Here are a few of their suggestions, and I’d like to hear yours too:

Pet Overpopulation Ideas for Oklahoma:

🐾 Create a Statewide Agency or Task Force: Establish an Oklahoma Department of Animal Welfare or a dedicated task force to oversee pet protections, spay/neuter programs, and the enforcement of humane treatment laws.

🐾 Statewide Spay/Neuter Program: Implement a low-cost or free spay/neuter program funded by state grants or partnerships with local veterinarians and animal shelters. Consider creating mobile spay/neuter clinics to reach rural areas.

🐾 Strengthen Laws Against Puppy Mills: Enforce stricter regulations on commercial breeding operations to ensure animals are treated humanely. Require regular inspections and impose stiff penalties for non-compliance.

🐾 Public Awareness Campaigns: Launch campaigns to educate the public about the importance of spaying/neutering pets, adopting from shelters, and reporting animal cruelty. Promote the sale of Animal Friendly License Plates, with $20 from each plate going into the Pet Overpopulation Fund. Individuals or families who qualify for low income will be issued a voucher that can be submitted to participating veterinarians for a sterilization procedure. Animal Friendly License Plate Applications can be picked up at tag agencies, from the Oklahoma Tax Commission, or printed from here:https://okvma.org/wp-content/uploads/OK-State-License-Plate-Application-Animal-Friendly.pdf

Investing in solutions to address Oklahoma’s pet overpopulation problem is a win-win-win situation for everyone involved. Pets benefit because it will effectively reduce pet overpopulation and fewer unwanted animals will be destroyed in the future. Veterinarians benefit because they are assisting with a community issue. The public, state, and local government benefit because costs associated with stray animals are reduced. These costs include capturing, housing, caring for, and euthanizing stray animals; medical costs associated with human bites; expenses related to stray animals injured by automobiles; and property damage caused by stray animals.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas in the comments. 🐾

Maizy is here with an important request!

Our food pantry is critically low right now😟. Many community members rely on occasional assistance from us for dog and cat food.

While it may not seem like much, having this resource keeps many owners from being forced to surrender their animals which lessens the burden on our overwhelmed shelters and rescues❤️. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations. Gallon ziploc bags are also appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support🥹.

Why neuter your male cat?
It might save his life. 😿

Unfixed outdoor male cats often fight for territory. Bites are often how cats contract F.I.V.

This is ‘Rocky’. He was left behind to live outdoors when his people moved away. He contracted F.I.V. Sadly he lost his battle with the disease.

You are missed. We are so sorry your life was cut short.
🩶

To avoid this sad fate, please neuter your male cats and keep them safely indoors.

ADOPTED This big beauty has been in the Noble Animal Welfare and Shelter for over 7 weeks! Any guesses on breed? She is listed as an "Airedale Terrier".

"Daega" is a big sweety and gets along with people and other dogs well. She is leash and potty trained. She is also completely vetted and the adoption fee is only $25!

Please visit her at the shelter between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday to see if she could be the "right fit" for your family and space...lol. 720 S. Front Street.

As always, thanks for sharing Daega home! 🐾♥️
