Students often share their anxiety about starting, fearing that they will be laughed at or judged when they make mistakes or fail. My response is that we all start somewhere, and I will never laugh at you. I will be there to support and guide you, celebrating your successes and helping you learn from failures. Everyone makes mistakes, even top horsemen,we are only human.

Being teachable is crucial. Use failures as motivation to seek knowledge and improvement, and remember to be kind to yourself. Keep moving forward, and you will achieve more than you ever imagined. Make it fun along the way too!

Sending lots of love and good vibes to everyone who needs it today. 🦋💕🫶

The horses I've worked with have been my greatest teachers, revealing parts of myself that needed growth and transformation. They've taught me the power of communication, the art of listening, the virtue of patience, and the importance of perseverance.

Each horse has been a mosaic piece in my heart, and their lessons have been invaluable.

One of the most significant lessons I've learned is that giving up is never an option. Instead, we must rest, reevaluate, and try again. Here are some of our horses and their inspiring journeys.🐛🦋

Graphic image warning:

This is why you do not feed horses you do not know even if you have the best intentions.

Max is an old man he's not allowed sugar, he can't properly chew anymore and therefore is more at risk for choking.
Due to Max's age he was at risk of his oesophagus rupturing not to mention the significant amount of pain he endured. After an intense endoscopy and a great effort by our wonderful vet at Perth equine Hospital Max safely moved the stuck carrot.

Thankfully Max survived and is now in recovery although still in pain. However this whole scenario could have been avoided, the carrot found was cut perfectly round which is very dangerous to horses especially ponies.

The rescue is already overfull and with the hay shortage due to the drought the rescue is already struggling. This is one of the hardest seasons we've faced so far.
We could really use help from the community by not adding unnecessary stresses and bills.

Please help us keep our rescue horses safe.
How you can help rather then feeding treats over a fence:

Pony walkers
Grooming rescues
Mucking stables
Helping to feed out.
Horse and pony cuddles.

Additionally I've added the correct way of cutting carrots for choke awareness to hopefully help someone else avoid this situation.

Warm regards
BHR

Remembering our beautiful little Hope who was a great therapy mini to many and continuously provided us all with so much joy! Cannot believe it's been a year, your presence is missed daily. Your favourite client refuses to work with any of the other miniatures.I hope you are enjoying yourself on the other side as you certainly deserve a beautiful place in heaven for all the good you did for others on earth.

Your hoof prints are forever in our hearts little Angel!

Pumpkin was a sickly, bot infested wild rescue filly. Fast forward 2.5 years later, she has healed and grown into a head turning mare enjoying her best life. Found her forever home and couldn't be happier.

Was the rescue and rehabilitation hard? Yes, many hours of hard work, tears, sacrifice and uncertainty was needed to get through to the beautiful destination of a happy, healthy and fulfilled life.

No matter what you are facing today, don't give up. Just like Pumpkin, if you commit to your own growth and healing journey, invest in yourself, leave behind what doesn't serve you. Soon you will find yourself living your best life. 💖

My dream was to create a safe haven for horses and humans. ❤️
Reflecting back on 8 years of hard work which is impossible to fit into a short video.
Seeing how far all the horses have come throughout the years and how many lives they have touched is all the motivation I need to continue working towards growing BHR.
I am looking forward to continuing walking alongside humans and horses while they embark on their healing journeys together.

Thank you to my "healing team" of volunteers, supporters, clients and like minded professionals that contribute to every rescue horse's rehabilitation journey.

I would like to know what this herd was discussing at this little meeting tonight.

Maybe they were plotting to find my horse treat stash? 🤷
