Gryphon was proving a bit of a handful, I was called out to work on ground work so his owner could do a bit more with him. He is only young and was so willing to do what we were asking despite the mud and ice on route to the school!

And what is a “Horse Whisperer” anyway?! I think what we’d all love is to have a seemingly effortless “gift” with horses (and in an ideal world why not with people as well?) But is this possible? At Intelligent Horsemanship we think it IS and it CAN be taught.

At the beginning of my IH journey I read this book. It made me want to be a Recommended Trainer, after reading it I emailed the authors and eventually after the persistence test worked with them for 4 years. If your thinking about becoming a trainer I would give it a read or even if you just love horses.

She aced the groundwork we asked off her, looking forward to the next session.

Punk out for his first hack since we restarted his training. We did lots of leading and long lining to build his confidence and having Pongo his field mate out with us is making all the difference. Well done team!

I love this exercise, it really tests your timing and concentration.

Can you and your horse do this One Foot Over The Pole exercise? We teach so many ground work exercises on our Five day Foundation course - which then translate to ridden work. I think it’s extra clever in this case as he has Very Big Feet!

We started of with this bunting at the top of the uprights for Lujfur to build his confidence, and gradually took them lower when he was happy to go under them.

This was part of a fun ‘beach themed’ 🏖 ground work day. Well done everyone.
