It has been quite a while since we shared any information about our beautiful Chief.
Chief has had quite a journey to arrive at where he is now. He came into our care as an older pup from a rural community. Chief enjoyed the company of other dogs but struggled with trusting human beings. As he matured, his insecurities with people increased and he began acting very threatening & aggressive to scare people away and keep himself "safe". Thankfully, we were able to see past the fierce performance that Chief displayed and see the scared, insecure puppy begging for help.
Realizing that Chief's behavior issues were more than an average foster family could safely handle, we engaged the services of a professional dog trainer, Dan Buenaventura of DBCanineWorks. Dan took Chief into his facility and started immediately to provide Chief with the stability, direction & leadership he so badly needed. Within a couple of short weeks, Chief was confident enough to enjoy the many outings that Dan took him on and he continued to build confidence through his positive socializing experiences with a leader at his side. From Dan's care to a knowledgeable experienced foster home, dedicated to continuing the structure, leadership and socialization, Chief continued to shine!
Today our beautiful boy is a happy, calm and confident young man, very well behaved, who enjoys all of the positive attention he attracts. <3
Thank you to all involved in helping our beautiful Chief overcome his past and find the happiness he deserves!

Beautiful Pearl!
Pearl is a 13 month old female German Shepherd / Malinois cross. She comes from a neglectful background where she never received any socializing and never learned any doggie manners. Originally picked up as a stray and never claimed, we were contacted by the northern humane society where she was not doing well in a kennel environment. Flown to Winnipeg at the beginning of December, poor Pearl was extremely friendly & sweet but also terribly anxious and VERY poorly behaved. No leash manners, very mouthy (excitement), and zero idea of how to contain her excitement and anxiety. After a few weeks of settling into her foster home, Pearl had made huge changes in some areas but still exhibited very high anxiety and alarming reactivity to other dogs and basically anything "new". Once assessed by a professional dog trainer, we realized that her anxiety needed immediate medical help and we started her on a low dose of sedatives.
Pearl has done amazing in the last several weeks. She lives with a resident dog and cat and has managed to learn how to behave around them. She would still like to chase the cat but understands that it is not allowed. She would really like to play with the dog but he is not yet comfortable with her "energy". Pearl still needs to learn better doggie communication skills as her pushiness is alarming to other dogs.
Pearl is still a work-in-progress as many rescued dogs are. She is extremely bright and understands sit, down, crate, backup, etc. She walks nicely and is seldom reactive on her walks. She is a good eater and has learned to take treats gently now, instead of grabbing/biting as she once did. Loves people - a very sweet girl that really enjoys giving & receiving affection.
Pearl is not an easy dog - understanding her can be challenging. But she is very much worth the extra effort and one day, she will make an outstanding family companion for some lucky family. <3
Unfortunately Pearl's current foster family are unable to keep

From Storm's foster family:
Storm is crate trained. He sleeps at night with zero issues as soon as you say bedtime. During the day, he will settle after a few minutes with a choice chew. Generally he walks really well on the leash with martingale collar as long as you get the energy burst out. He doesn't pull or react to other dogs or people on walks. He has seen cats on walks and is inquisitive, but is not proven with one in the home. He does not bother the rabbit in its cage. Storm love, love loves being in the truck and going for rides. He will actually pull to the truck at the beginning of a walk. He is an excellent passenger. Storm has good house manners. He knows back up and will usually wait for treats/food when asked. He loves to be around people and it is not an outdoor on a rope kind of guy. He does like to carry around a shoe or two, but has never chewed them. Storm took about 2 weeks to learn he can relax and he doesn't need to pace. I would say older kids in the home as he can be overexcited at times and he is a big boy. He knows down and sit. He sticks close by and doesn't travel far from his people. He likes to play and is good with grooming.
