Today we are celebrating our beautiful Kimber's amazing weight-loss success story! Kimber was returned to our care in May of 2024 after her "Dad" passed away. Unfortunately Kimber's owner demonstrated his love for Kimber by greatly over-feeding her and she came back to us as a 110 pound girl. :( The ideal weight for a dog of her size and age is between 65 - 70 pounds.
After a $400+ vet visit ruling out any medical reason for her weight gain, her foster family started on a strict plan to help her regain her health.
Yesterday this wonderful girl achieved her goal and weighed in at 68 pounds! She has lost a whopping 42 pounds in just 9 months! Not only does she look so much better, she feels like a new dog! She is happy & energetic and enjoys her activities again.
Congratulations Kimber and special thanks to her foster family for being so diligent in helping Kimber restore her good health!

Yesterday we were lucky enough to be the ones to transport our beautiful Zoe from her long-term Board & Train program with Dan at DBCanineWorks to a boarding kennel / foster home with Brent at Telaka Kennels. All I can say about Zoe is that I would be so proud to call this girl my own!

05/02/2025

We are going to continue to post her until she gets a wonderful foster or forever home! Zoe deserves to find her Happy-Ever-After!
Meet Zoe – A Gorgeous & Loyal German Shepherd Looking for Her Forever Home!

Zoe is a stunning 2-year-old female German Shepherd with a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling. She’s a happy, goofy girl who thrives on pleasing her people and adores playing with her ball. Loyal and affectionate with her family, Zoe is also independent and confident, taking a “watch and wait” approach with new people.

She’s well-mannered in the home—house-trained, crate-trained, and knows her “place” (bed). She enjoys car rides, daily walks, and exploring her surroundings. Zoe is fantastic with older kids (though she hasn’t been tested with babies or toddlers). She’s adaptable in new environments and unfazed by crowds.

What Zoe Needs:
Zoe isn’t a dog-park social butterfly, but she’s content ignoring unfamiliar dogs and will bond with a canine companion in the right home. She’s protective of her space but responds well to direction. With strong leadership, clear boundaries, and a structured routine, Zoe thrives—she’s eager to learn and loves to make her people proud!

Like many German Shepherds, Zoe has a natural prey drive. While she can be trained to coexist with cats or small pets, she’s best suited for an experienced owner who understands high-drive dogs.

Zoe’s Journey:
Zoe was found as a stray and taken in by Manitoba All Shepherd Rescue. Initially, she lacked confidence and expressed fear through loud reactivity toward other dogs. To help her build trust, she entered a board & train program with Dan at DBCanineWorks. Under his guidance, Zoe quickly learned to relax, trust her handler, and navigate new situations calmly. She’s been everywhere—from parks and stores to the airport—learning to coexist with other dogs without issue.

Zoe Needs a Home Now!
This incredible girl has been waiting too long for her forever family. Her board & train stay was meant to be short-term, but without a foster or adopter, she’s been there for two months. Now, Dan is heading out of town, and Zoe urgently needs a place to go.

Can you open your heart and home to Zoe? Whether through adoption or fostering, you can change her life. We provide everything for fosters—you just provide love and a safe space until she finds her forever family.

This is Zoe, a beautiful 2 year old female German Shepherd.
Zoe is a sweet & happy girl that loves to please her person. She is goofy and funny and loves her ball. Loyal and loving with people she considers her family, Aloof & unconcerned with strangers.
House trained, place (bed) trained, crate trained, good in the car.
Like all dogs, Zoe loves schedule and routine but is always up for fun & play. She enjoys walks, exploring & sniffing her world and is unconcerned by crowds or new experiences. Loves older kids, (never been tested with babies or toddlers).
Zoe is NOT a "dog park" type of dog. She can tolerate strange dogs and once bonded, she will play with another dog that she considers her family. She will bark and protect her territory from strangers (both human and canine) but will quiet quickly once instructed.
Zoe thrives with leadership, boundaries and direction. She is happy knowing what is expected and LOVES to please her family.
German Shepherds generally have high prey drive and Zoe is no exception. Given the opportunity she will chase & kill wild rodents. Care would need to be taken introducing her to cats or other small pets in the home. If you are an inexperienced owner and have cats or bunnies, Zoe is not the dog for you. But if you have experience training higher-drive dogs, then you won't have issues training Zoe to leave your small pets alone.
In short, Zoe is the perfect German Shepherd Dog! Beauty, brains and unmatched loyalty. Yet here we are without a home for this wonderful girl. :(
Zoe originally came from a community outside of Winnipeg. Picked up as a stray by rural animal control, never claimed, and then transferred to MASR. In her first foster home Zoe was very insecure and displayed some loud reactivity to other dogs. Zoe had learned somewhere in her short life that the best way to protect herself was to act loud and "scary" and other dogs would leave her alone. We decided that the best way to help Zoe was to put her in a Board & Train program with Dan of DBCanineWorks and, within hours, Dan had her learning to relax and trust HIM to keep her safe. Once she learned that she was always going to be safe, her world opened up! Dan has taken her everywhere! Stores, parks, airport, The Forks, everywhere he went, Zoe went. And she meets daily multiple client's dogs that Dan is working with. On her outings, she ignores strange dogs. At "home" with Dan she barks at strange dogs arriving but then quiets and ignores them.
Zoe desperately needs (and deserves) a home and family of her own! Our 10-day board & train with Dan has turned into 2 months now because we have had nobody step up to foster or adopt her. Now Dan is going out of town and when he returns he has several other clients needing his services.
Zoe needs help NOW. She is a great dog and she deserves a great owner! If you can't commit to adopt at this time, can you commit to fostering this sweet girl? We supply everything and you provide a safe home until her forever family comes along.

This beautiful female German Shepherd (left) is Zoe and she has NOWHERE TO GO.
Zoe is a 2 year old girl currently in a board & train situation and she needs a place to lay her head THIS WEEK. (Dan is going out of town.)
Zoe is friendly and very sweet. She does very well with her person/family following the NILIF (Nothing In Life Is Free) protocol. She craves the leadership which allows her to feel confident.
Zoe can get along with another dog after sufficient time getting to know them. She would not do as well in a multiple dog environment unless her person is a very knowledgeable leader. She is a German Shepherd so does have a strong prey drive. Cats & bunnies are "prey" so care & training are necessary if these smaller animals are in the home.
We have nowhere to put this sweet girl so PLEASE step up if you can help!

Our beautiful Ginger is soon to be adopted so her current foster family took her to visit with, and say goodbye to, her first foster family.
Ginger had a wonderful visit with the people who made saving her a possibility, and where she first learned about love & kindness. This is what fostering looks like....
